In Hogwarts Legacy, the broom is a type of vehicle that allows you to quickly move around Hogwarts. However, students do not immediately get the opportunity to acquire their own broom. In this guide, we will tell you exactly how you can get this magical vehicle around the world, and what you need to do to improve it.
How to get a broom in Hogwarts Legacy
To open access to this magical mode of transport, you will first need to go through a story quest called "Broom Flying", which, fortunately, is waiting for you almost at the very beginning of the game, and it is impossible to miss it. Head to the lawn in the Bell Tower Wing and then fly over Hogwarts a little while getting used to the controls of the broom.
After completing the main quest, you will unlock access to a side quest called "Flight Test". As part of it, you will need to buy your first broom. To do this, head to Hogsmeade and enter the Krugoletka sporting goods store, the location of which is shown in the screenshots below.
Talk to merchant Alby Wicks and get your first broom. In total, there will be 5 options to choose from - each of them costs 600 gold coins, since they differ only in appearance. New brooms will unlock as you progress through the story.
How to summon a broom
To summon a broom, you need to press certain buttons (keys) depending on your platform:
- On PC: Hold the "Tab" key to open the quick menu, and then press the number "3".
- On Xbox: Hold the "LB" button to open the quick menu, then press "B".
- On PlayStation: Hold the "L1" button to open the quick menu, and then click on the "circle".
Note that you can fly not in all locations. You will not be able to use the broom in the walls of the educational institution, Hogsmeade, dungeons and other similar places. You can find out whether it is allowed to fly in a particular area by a special icon that may appear in the lower left corner of the screen, next to the mini-map - if there is an icon, then it will not work here to sit on a broom.
How to improve the broom
Broom Upgrade I
Alby Wicks, after you buy your first broom, will offer to improve it, but for this you will first have to pass certain flight tests. Head to the Quidditch pitch and race against the clock. You will need to set a new record ahead of Imelda Reyes (this is not very difficult to do).
Now return to the Roundabout and talk to its owner to complete the quest. Then come back here after a while, and you can buy the first broom upgrade for 1000 coins, which will increase the maximum speed and acceleration of the vehicle.
Broom II Update
After purchasing the first broom upgrade, you will have access to the second task called "Sweeping away competitors". As part of it, you have to break the record in broom racing again (this time it will be a little more difficult).
Return to Wicks and talk to him to complete the quest. After some time, you will be able to purchase a second broom upgrade from him for 4000 gold coins, which will increase its maximum speed and acceleration.
Broom Update III
After purchasing the second upgrade, the third task will open for you "The sky is the limit". During it, you will need to participate in the next race against the clock. Then return to the Krugoletka and report the success to its owner.
Soon you will be able to purchase the last broom upgrade for 7500 gold coins. It will increase the acceleration of the transport to the maximum value.
