Although Obtaining Energy in Genshin Impact does not directly affect the damage of the characters, but in the end it contributes a lot to the DPS of the entire squad and allows you to easily go through dungeons, the Abyss and other difficult content. In this guide, you will learn all about the mechanics of energy in the game, as well as the most effective ways to use them.

    What is energy

Energy is a resource that allows a character to charge and use an elemental blast. Its cost can vary from 40 to 90 units: you can find out the exact value for each hero in the talent section in the characteristics of the ultimate.

    Particles and spheres of energy

    They are of two types:

Elemental particles and spheres are painted in the same colors as the seven existing elements. They appear after using elemental skills, as well as when the HP of an elemental opponent drops to certain values. Most effectively restore energy to characters with the appropriate element.

Pure particles and spheres do not have any coloration. They can only be obtained after reaching certain levels of enemy health, as well as thanks to the passives of some weapons. With equal efficiency, they restore energy to characters of any element.

Orbs restore three times more energy than particles, but they can only be obtained after dealing a certain amount of damage to the enemy.

Convert particles and spheres to energy

The amount of energy received depends not only on the element of the particle or sphere, but also on the number of members in the detachment. Also, this factor is affected by whether the character was active at the time of receiving the particles or not. You can see the specific values for each position in the table below.

State Number of characters Type elemental particle elemental sphere pure particle pure sphere
    On the field Same element 3.0 9.0 2.0 6.0
Out of the field Squad of 4 heroes Same item 1.8 5.4 1.2 3.6
Out of the field Squad of 3 heroes Same element 2.1 6.3 1.4 4.2
Out of the field Squad of 2 heroes Same item 2.4 7.2 1.6 4.8
    On the field Other element 1.0 3.0 2.0 6.0
Out of the field Squad of 4 heroes Other element 0.6 1.8 1.2 3.6
Out of the field Squad of 3 heroes Other element 0.7 2.1 1.4 4.2
Out of the field Squad of 2 heroes Other element 0.8 2.4 1.6 4.8

    Energy Recovery Feature

However, how many units will eventually be replenished by the explosion of the elements depends not only on the quality of the received particles, but also on the value of the character's energy recovery (EP) stat.

For example: Bennett's Obtaining Energy is 255%. He was an active character and received 2 pyro particles. Let's translate the percentage of his energy recovery into the number 255/100 = 2.55. 2*3*2.55 = 8.55. In total, Bennett will receive 8.55 units of energy.

    How to Increase Obtaining Energy

Initially, the value of energy recovery for each character is 100%. You can upgrade it in the following ways:

Artifacts. In the main characteristic, it is found only in hours, but as a secondary stat it can be obtained on any type of artifact.

Artifact sets. The 2 pieces of The Exile, Scholar (quality: 3 and 4 stars) and Emblem of Severed Fate (quality: 4 and 5 stars, can be obtained in the Momiji-Dyed Court dungeon) sets provide a 20% energy recovery bonus.

Weapon. A large number of weapons have Obtaining Energy as an additional characteristic. Separately, it is worth highlighting the Ceremonial series and the Favonia line. Ceremonial weapons allow their wielder to re-cast an elemental skill when dealing damage, thereby generating more particles. A character with such a weapon will be an excellent battery for a teammate of the same element who has an expensive ultimate. The passive ability of the Favonia line on a critical hit allows the wearer to create 3 pure particles of energy, thereby effectively pumping energy to all members of the squad. But it is worth remembering that the passives of these weapons only work when the Achievement: Hero is on the field.

Also, for some characters: Raiden Shogun, Mona, Bennett, Venti, Keiyi and Yun Jin, the value of energy recovery increases with ascension.

    Energy sources

Particles and spheres of energy are formed in the following cases:

    • Hitting an enemy with an elemental skill, even one protected by a shield. The number of particles generated by each skill can be seen in the table by following link.
    • When an enemy receives a certain level of damage. Typically, the thresholds for gaining energy are 66% HP, 33% HP, and enemy death. Elemental monsters create elemental particles and orbs. These include slimes, shamachurls, ghosts, jumpers and others.
    • A critical hit with the Favonius weapon mentioned above.
    • Elemental Resonance: High Voltage. If there are two electro characters in a squad of 4 members of the electro reaction, they have a chance to leave an elemental particle.

In some cases, energy can be restored directly to the elemental explosion bar. In this case, the energy recovery stat is not taken into account.

When using normal and charged attacks, 1 unit of energy can be restored.

Some character talents are also capable of flooding energy.

Activation of the bonus of 4 parts of The Exile and Scientist sets.

Activating the passives of some weapons, such as Amenoma Kageuchi and Prototype Amber.

    Who needs Obtaining Energy

Although every fighter needs EP to some extent, the following heroes especially need this stat:

    • The main damage dealer, playing from a stance activated by an elemental explosion. Examples of such heroes are Xiao, Arataki Itto, Cyno (120-140%).
    • Characters with high ult cost: Yae Miko, Kamisato Ayaka, Eula (140-160%).
    • Sub-DD played from ultimates: Yelan, Xingqiu, Xiangling (200-220%).
    • Support characters that buff, protect, or heal damaging characters with their elemental explosions: Kaedehara Kazuha, Bennett, Thoma, Jean (160-180%).
    • Heroes whose damage depends on their energy recovery parameter. These include Mona and Raiden Shogun (160-180%).

    Optimal Energy Recovery Values

The table below shows the recommended HP values for different roles, depending on the price of the Q-piece of the heroes.

Elemental Explosion Cost Main damage Sub-DD/Support
    40 units 100% 140%
    60 units 120% 180%
    80 units 140% 220%

It should be borne in mind that we are still talking only about approximate values, since the actual numbers will directly depend on the hero, the pack where he is, and the mobs he fights. Plus, it is affected by your efficiency in managing the collection of energy particles (procast).

    Procast Tips

All particles generated during the use of elemental skills take some time to reach the character. Based on the features of this mechanic, you can choose the most effective ability procasting and optimal character rotation.

So, for all heroes, energy is reset at different speeds after using the ultimate. For example, for Xingqiu, this happens instantly, so when playing for him, it will be more efficient to use the elemental skill first, and then the explosion of the elements, so that by the end of the animation the energy scale will already be partially filled. Bennet's energy is spent only after the animation of hitting the ground, so in his case, using the elemental skill before the ult is pointless.

To find out exactly at what moment the character spends energy, you need to rest against any obstacle and activate the ultimate. In this case, the animation will not work and you will be able to see when the reset occurs.

To help maximize the damage of characters with powerful but expensive elemental explosions, squads use so-called "batteries", which own the same element as the damage dealer. After using the elemental skills of the battery, you must immediately switch to the damaging hero, so that he will receive all the elemental particles. Examples of such an interaction are: Sucrose - Xiao, Bennett - Xiangling. Thanks to the batteries, it becomes possible to collect damage dealers mainly in offensive stats, and not look for high energy recovery values for them.
