In Sons of the Forest, the crossbow is a silent ranged weapon that can be a good alternative to a homemade or compound bow. In this guide, you will find out where you can find this weapon and how to get bolts for it.
Where to find the crossbow in Sons of the Forest
First of all, you have to get staff key card. Having acquired the specified item, head to the northwestern part of the island. To the north of a large body of water connected to the sea, you will find the entrance to a cave. As a guide, you can use two golf carts that stand out strongly in the forest landscape. The exact location is shown in the screenshots below.
Enter the cave and move forward along the only path. You will reach the hatch - go down into it. Inside you will find a large number of racks with various snacks. Collect them, and then go to the closed door on the right and unlock it with your staff keycard.
Move on to the first hydroponics room. Here you are attacked by baby mutants. You can ignore them and just run to the next room. Walk forward and at about the end of the room, turn right. Closer to the corner, you will find a corpse, next to which lies a crossbow. Don't forget to pick up the crossbow bolts from the wall. We add that in this bunker you can also find VIP key card.
The advantages of a crossbow include the absence of the need to pull the bowstring, the presence of a sight and a higher lethal force, so the projectile can fly a long distance and cause considerable damage (a deer can be killed in 1-2 shots).
Where to find crossbow bolts
Unfortunately, the crossbow requires special ammunition, that is, ordinary arrows will not work for it. Also, you won't be able to handcraft bolts or 3D print them. The only way to get them is to find them in the open world.
The map above shows abandoned camps and bunkers, where you can be sure to find the appropriate shells. In addition, they are randomly generated in cases, suitcases, boxes and containers, so be sure to inspect all these boxes.
Don't forget to pick up the released bolts as well. Plus, you can use cheats and add any amount of these shells to your inventory.
