Clockwork Castellans in Resident Evil 4 - collectible figurines placed in secret places in each chapter of the game. They are involved in two in-game achievements, and as a reward for finding all of them, you will also unlock new weapons - "Primal knife". In this guide, we will detail the location of each of the figures.
Note: clockwork rangers were added in the 2023 remake of the game, they were absent in the original version of Resident Evil 4.
Where to find all Clockwork Keepers
There are 16 watchmen in total, exactly one in each chapter. When approaching them, you will hear the creaky sound of the movement of mechanical arms and legs, and after shooting at the figure, its location will be counted.
These toy dolls are often hidden in the most obscure places, making them easy to miss. Given that the game is linear, you won't be able to go back to the previous chapter and pick up the missing doll, although there are a couple of features here:
- The caretaker counter is the same for all saves, which makes it possible to load at the beginning of the mission and find the missed toy;
- The progress of collecting them also carries over to the new game when using the "New Game Plus" mode with a previous save.
Below is the location of all collectible watchmen figurines.
Clockwork keeper 1
Chapter 1: Lakeside Settlement
The first figurine is hidden on the roof of a ruined village house. This is the closest building to the shore, you can get into it only through a broken window. The caretaker is above the line of sight on the roof, just aim and shoot at him.

Chapter 2: near the destroyed factory
When you move along the road to the estate of the headman, look into the first hut on the left. In the corner at the entrance is the next toy.

Chapter 3: Not far from the merchant in this episode
In the cave with the merchant, you need to jump down to the piers. The caretaker is hidden near the water, behind the boxes in the nook on the right.

Chapter 4: Forest Altar
Behind the large locked doors begins the passage to the forest altar, the toy is hidden behind the far fence. I'll have to take a closer look, because here it's really hard to see it because of the rain.

Chapter 5: Village Chief's Manor
Another clockwork caretaker was lying around in the attic in the elder's estate. To get there, go up to the top floor, where behind the painting on the right side of the room there will be a secret staircase. Climb up and shine around, the toy you are looking for is hidden behind the boxes in the center of the attic.

Chapter 6: near the exit from the village
After you meet the first enemy in this chapter, very soon you will be running along the edge of the quarry. A large bonfire can be seen through the gap to the right, and a small figure of the caretaker is hidden at its base.

Chapter 7: in the room in front of the Treasury
After you use the key in the dungeon to open a new passage, you will soon find yourself in front of a ladder. In the upstairs room, follow the left side along the wall and you can spot another toy on the shelves in the center of the room.

Chapter 8: Castle Battlements
When you make your way along the castle wall, after the cut-scene with El Gigante, climb onto the next tower and run almost a full circle along it. At the dead end you will find the next figurine.

Chapter 9: Courtyard
In this chapter, the caretaker is hidden almost at the very beginning of the location. Once you've made your way into the courtyard through the hedge maze, assess your position on the map. The target is under the northwest stairs.

Chapter 10: sewer passage
When you get out of the "Depths" (Depths) you will fall into the sewer tunnels. The toy is hidden behind bars opposite the room with the merchant.

Chapter 11: Mineshaft Stopover
After riding the first trolley, you will find yourself near the stop zone. Climb to the station balcony and look towards the door, above it you will find the next puppet.

Chapter 12: Clock Tower
When entering the clock tower, stick to the left wall, the clockwork keeper is on a crate under the stairs on the same floor where you entered the building.

Chapter 13: North of the Wharf
When passing through the Wharf zone, at some point you will come to an open area, where an enemy with a grenade launcher will be waiting for you. The figurine is hidden near the place where this group of enemies stood, right under the truck.

Chapter 14: Excavation Control Room
After the scene of Ashley's kidnapping, you will be taken to the camp. Just before the tents, turn right into the tunnel and climb up the stairs. Another toy is waiting for you on the crates in the control room.

Chapter 15: Specimen Storage
While making your way through the ruins in this chapter, you will enter a room that looks like a warehouse. Just before the room marked on the map as storage, look through the north door. The figurine stands on beams in a dusty pantry.

Chapter 16: Underground Passage
After defeating the Saddler, a countdown will start, and during this time you must have time to escape through the underground passage. In a room with several enemies squirming on the floor, take a closer look at the crates to the right of the door you entered through - that's where the last caretaker will be hidden.
Rewards for collecting all Clockwork Keepers
Finding the first caretaker will please you with an achievement "Act of Defiance", and when each of them is found, you will receive an achievement "Clockwork reputation". In addition to the nominal pleasure of the process of finding secret items, a more significant reward awaits you - "Primal knife". After unlocking, you can buy it for 1000 points in the additional content section, and fully upgrading this weapon from the merchant will make its durability infinite.
