In this short guide, we will tell you how to open a gilded chest in the Owlbear Nest in Baldur's Gate 3. Below we will take a closer look at the location of the treasure and solve the puzzle, without solving which it will not be possible to get the contents of the chest.
Solving the golden chest puzzle
Location of the lair
The bear's nest is located in the woods, west of the druid grove. We marked one of the entrances to the huge cave in the screenshot below:
Along the way, you can meet a group of cultists who can even be persuaded to go in the same direction to kill the bear itself, which is waiting by the cave. In general, defeating this formidable opponent is not required to obtain loot from the previously mentioned chest.
How to open a golden chest
After passing through the cave, you will find yourself in a huge hall with a statue, in front of which there will be a gilded chest. It makes no sense to immediately try to open it - it is closed by a magical barrier, when touched, the hero receives significant damage.
It is necessary to jump over the water barrier and search the nook behind the statue. As always, you can hold down the left Alt to highlight items that are available for interaction. Here you will find "Leaf with a Selunit prayer" - it is he who is the key to this riddle.
Returning to the chest with the parchment you just found, you can read it through interaction in your inventory. An important point - it should not be Shadowhart reading, otherwise nothing will happen.
At the same time, if the girl is now in your group, when you try to pick up the contents of the chest, she will try to convince you to get rid of the relics. You can use persuasion, intimidation, or insight to change her mind, or you can return here with a different cast of adventurers.
Receiving an award
By reaching the treasure in one way or another, you will receive five items:
- Heliotrope
- Idol of Selûne
- Silver necklace
- Selunite rite
- A green-quality lunar pendant with the Evasive ability.
