In such a role-playing project, designed for dozens of hours of passage, sooner or later each of us thinks that it would be nice to correct the choices made during the pumping. To try out a new class, or just to freshen things up, players often start from scratch without ever making it to the end. Fortunately, sometimes you can achieve the same right in the process of passing. And our guide will just tell you how to reset skills and change the class in Baldur's Gate 3.
How to reset character level, class and skills
What can be dropped?
Currently, in Baldur's Gate 3, you can reset all the parameters of the hero, including the class - and distribute the characteristics from scratch in accordance with the current level of the character. Reset the level itself and lose the experience gained earlier it is forbidden .
These opportunities are realized through dialogue with NPC Withered, which comes to the player's camp after being found in his crypt during the quest "Explore the Ruins". The player stumbles upon this task literally at the start of the first act.
How to change appearance while playing
It’s a pity, but it’s impossible to change the character’s appearance in the same way now. To do this, you can resort to the Shapeshifting enchantment or the Werewolf Mask (the item complements the Deluxe edition of the game).
Where to find Withered
As we already mentioned, you can get acquainted with a useful NPC that can change the skills and class of the hero in the first act, right after the Nautiloid crash on the beach. On your way to the east you will come across a teleportation point "Overgrown Ruins", next to which there is a closed door to the dungeon - approaching it will start the quest about exploring the ruins. Picking the lock on the door is possible, but you must have a lockpicking kit and roll 20 on the check for this action. There are other ways inside:
- Shoot down the load suspended above the ruins with any long-range attack - it will fall on the ceiling of the building and you can jump inside through the resulting hole;
- Enter through the back entrance behind the cargo (you will need to persuade the guard behind the door or open the lock (here the difficulty is only 7);
- Go around the ruins from the side of the cliff and go down through the hatch on the slope (coordinates x:317, y:357). This option is good because you immediately find yourself in the crypt where the Withered One is imprisoned, in other cases you will have to fight the bandits on the upper level of the ruins (difficulty 20 at the castle). Next, we will consider this particular path, since it allows you to complete the necessary task as quickly as possible and open the Withered One.
All the rooms inside communicate with each other, so that you can bypass the entire dungeon, no matter how you enter it. This is useful: in the rest of the dungeon, occupied by bandits, there is a lot of useful and interesting things for beginning adventurers.
How to explore the ruins
Using a detour from the side of the cliff, you will find yourself in a flooded grotto, which will immediately lead to a gloomy tomb. A button can be seen on the side wall - it opens a secret room, but at the same time several opponents awaken.
We recommend that on the very first turn of the battle, simply go into the opened room and stand around the corner - this way the enemies themselves will soon come running to you and allow you to deal with them one by one (if you stand close enough to the doors, your melee fighters will trigger an "attack of opportunity" when an enemy tries to enter the room).
After the battle, it remains to open a large sarcophagus and release the ancient into the wild. In the dialogue, it seems that you can choose any answer to his riddle (except for the attack) - the result did not differ in our case.
How to change class and reset skills
At the end of the dialogue in the crypt, Withered will hint that you are still destined to meet. And indeed, once again returning to your camp for a halt, you will find this mysterious creature near the boat by the river. Without hiding his selfish motives, the new satellite will announce its price list to you:
- bring a dead party member back to life - 200 coins;
- hire a mercenary - 100 coins;
- change class - 100 coins.
Mercenaries seem like a convenient way to look at a class and upgrade it for specific situations. They take a place in the group instead of one of your companions.
Class change / skill reset is the same option, and it works very simply: you choose a new one (or the same class) and pump it from the first level until all the experience earned by the character ends. In the same way, you can "reset" any of your companions - for the same price.
In the comments, you can supplement our guide with any useful information or just share your impressions of this aspect of the game. Still, the possibility of a full reroll in an old-school RPG is not so common.
