    Song of the Night in Baldur's Gate 3: where to find and what to choose

    Fenthick

    The first and second acts of the game lead step by step to this plot junction: after exploring Shar's temple, the player will have to go to Nightsong Prison. In this guide, we will describe the continuation of the Nightsong storyline in Baldur's Gate 3 and possible choices at a crossroads.

    Nightsong Prison Walkthrough

    Where to find the Song of the Night

    The lower tier in the Temple of Shar, which you can go down to by collecting all dark gems and gaining Night Spear, will open the passage to the "Realm of Shadows" in front of you. We discussed in detail the passage of these stages in the articles mentioned above. The “Shadowshore” movement point is located right next to the pond, which is the guide to the hidden location.

    Having plunged into it, you will no longer return to the current region, so it is better to complete all remaining tasks first.

    Nightsong Prisons: Encounter with Balthazar

    Using the pond as a teleport, you will find yourself in a new location, where you will have to make your way between the platforms hanging in the air using jumps. At the end of the path you will meet a girl imprisoned in a magic circle - yes, this is the Song of the Night.

    If earlier in the story Balthazar was not defeated, he will also be here. You can either agree to give him the prisoner, or fight him and win. If you follow the path of diplomacy and give in, Shadowheart will leave the squad forever.

    Be careful with area attacks, they can also hook a prisoner.

    Song of the Night: to kill or not

    Interact with the prisoner - a dialogue will begin that has an important plot background, so it is advisable to save first if you still want to achieve some specific development of events.

    Keep the Song of the Night alive

    You can use the persuasion option (difficulty 21) to persuade your companion to let Nightsong live, but sometimes it's just a matter of choosing the default "Trust Shadowheart" to do the same. Perhaps it depends on the previous choices, on how the protagonist "influenced" the girl.

    In any case, if you choose this outcome, it will result in the following changes:

    • Shadowheart will receive a continuation of the quest about the search for parents;
    • Song of the Night will later join your camp and take part in the story battle;
    • It will be possible to get Jaheira as a companion after assaulting the Lunar Towers;
    • You will receive a Moonglaive spear, and later Nightsong will reward you with the legendary Selûne Nightspear.

    Convince Shadowheart to kill Nightsong

    Selecting "Kill her, complete this ritual" in the dialogue will push the priestess to kill the Nightsong, resulting in:

    • Shadowheart will continue his task, and, becoming a dark justicar, he will have to defeat Ketherik Torm (of course, with your help);
    • Jaheira will die, respectively, she will no longer be able to become your companions in this passage;
    • The tavern "Last Light" will be destroyed, which may lead to the inability to complete the tasks associated with it;
    • Failed to complete the Nightsong quest chain in Baldur's Gate;
    • The romance with Shadowhart (if it was) will be interrupted - there is no longer "there is no place for love" in her life;
    • You will receive Dark Justicar's Halfplates and Spear of the Evening Shar.

    Kill Shadowheart to save Nightsong

    Such an option is also possible. "Do you want a fight? To your health" - if you choose this path, you will have to fight with your companion. After that, you can free the Nightsong and take the Moonglaive. With the exception of the Shadowheart related quest, the rest of the events will be similar to the "good fork" discussed earlier.

    In principle, after killing a partner, you can still try to “kill” the captive with the Spear of Night, but in this case she will still remain alive, because. your hero is simply not able to do it, unlike Shadowheart.
