Silent Hill 2 Remake Difficulty Level: Which One to Choose

What difficulty levels should I choose for combat and puzzles in Silent Hill 2 Remake ? These two settings can have a significant impact on how you play the game, so we recommend that you understand how they work before making any decisions about them. In this short guide, we will tell you about these parameters and give you tips on how to choose them.

What difficulty of combat and puzzles to choose in Silent Hill 2 Remake

    Difficulty of battles

Unlike most other horror games, Silent Hill 2 allows players to change the difficulty levels of not only combat, but also puzzles. The former setting does not change the combat system itself or the weapons available in any way – it only affects how much damage your character can deal and how deadly your opponents’ blows will be.

In short: the higher the difficulty of the battles, the longer you will have to beat the monsters to finally kill them, and the less you will be able to withstand their blows before losing all your health points. Note that you can easily change this parameter right during the game without having to start a new campaign.

In the original, the combat system was quite crooked (especially when playing with a keyboard and mouse), so most players recommended choosing Easy or Standard difficulty. In the remake, the combat mechanics were reworked, making it more convenient, so even for the first playthrough you can select Standard mode , and if repeated, switch to High difficulty.

Note: If you have never played the Silent Hill series or horror games in general before (or just want to enjoy the story), we recommend setting the difficulty to Easy.

    Difficulty of puzzles

This is where things get a little more challenging, as the difficulty of the riddles will directly impact the narrative, as the puzzles will become more complex and will require more steps to solve (looking for extra items or doing more things with the mechanisms), which can directly impact the length of the game.

For your first playthrough, we recommend you select Standard difficulty , which is capable of challenging players, but at the same time does not slide into full hardcore with the need to solve multi-stage puzzles.

If you've played the original a few times on the hardest difficulty, you can easily choose High right away. Those who are playing the Silent Hill series or horror games in general for the first time (or just want to enjoy the story) should choose Low.

Important: Unlike the difficulty of battles, the difficulty of puzzles CANNOT be changed during the game. If you find the puzzles too difficult or too easy, you will have to start over from the beginning.

We hope this information will help you choose the appropriate difficulty level for combat and puzzles in the Silent Hill 2 remake.
