In Hogwarts Legacy The portrait in a sorry state is side mission, during which you have to find a painting with Fernando and decide where to take it. If you're having trouble getting and accepting a quest, check out our guide.

How to start the quest: starting location
- Recommended level: 20
- Rewards: Magic recipe; 180XP
- Unlocked after completing the main quest "In the Shadow of the Mountain"
In order to start this task, you need to move to the School Library, as shown on the map below.
We speak with a painting by Fernand Octavius Pratt. During the dialogue, we find out that the second portrait with him was stolen and a new acquaintance asks for help to return it.
Speak to Astoria Strecott at the Three Broomsticks
We leave for investigation to the suspected Astoria. She is in Hogsmeade in The Three Broomsticks. Finding it is easy if you follow the golden path on the map.
After learning that the painting was "removed" so that it does not spy on the students, the player needs to go to the next location.
Find the ruins where the second portrait of Ferdinand is kept
If teleportation in that zone is already open, then go to the world map and select "Ruins in Marunvim". If the fast path is not yet open, then you will have to get to the checkpoint on your own along the path shown in the screenshot.
The painting can be found on the south side of the ruins.
Find and talk to Ferdinand in the ruins
From the teleportation point, you will need to turn around and go along the winding path. A stone arch will soon appear - this is the entrance.
After the corridor, the player meets with the Peplumba gang. Opponents: assassin, sniper, 2 duelists, 4 scouts. Infernals may also appear.
After the battle, you need to go down the stairs near the barrels.
The last obstacle is the Level 2 Lock, which blocks the path through the bars. To hack you need to use a spell Alohomora.
Combination to complete the puzzle:
Take the portrait of Fernando to the "Three brooms" or the tavern "Boar's head"
Now there is a choice of where to hang the picture. With any option, the task will be counted, and the reward will be the same.
The decision is up to the player. If you take it to the "Three broomsticks", then you will thereby fulfill Fernando's order, indescribably pleasing him.
Having chosen the "Boar's Head" tavern, the main character "takes the side" of the students, because of which the portrait will be indignant: “How are you supposed to understand this? It's not Three Broomsticks!"
. However, this decision will not lead to any negative consequences. This is where the mission ends.
