In Honkai: Star Rail, To Rot or to Burn is an Exploration mission and part of the Into the Withering Winter Night chain, in which you have to correctly answer the certification robots' questions in order to obtain permits and defeat Svarog. If you're having trouble completing the tasks, check out our guide.

Walkthrough of the mission "To Rot or to Burn"

    How to start a task

It should start automatically immediately after completing the previous quest chain called "Lying in the Rust". But you can take on its implementation only after you increase your level of development to at least rank 18.

After fulfilling the specified condition, return to Kamnegrad and find the guide selected by Wildfire. They will be Hook. Although a little later, Sampo will appear and say that he will be your guide.

Open the gate leading to the base of Svarog

Soon you will be automatically transferred to a snowy location. Approach the lattice gates and watch a cutscene in which your company will try to open them, but nothing will come of it, since special permissions are required for this.

How to get first level permission (correct answer)

The first car you need is in the right gorge. Approach her and speak. The robot will ask you who is the current champion of the combustion engine rap tournament. The correct version looks like this:

    • Bedrock 88 degrees.

How to get a second level permit (correct answer)

The “traffic light” you need is located nearby, to the right of the first robot. Approach him and talk to him. He will ask you which component to attach the microcrystalline block to. The correct version looks like this:

    • Logic control center.

How to get a third level permit

The next car is a little ahead. Talk to her. Unfortunately, she will not ask questions, but will almost immediately attack you in the company of other robots of the 28th level. If you have characters of level 25-30, you will quickly deal with them. We advise you to take Serval, as she will be able to break through the vulnerabilities of all opponents.

After collecting all the permissions, go ahead and open the second gate. Then watch a cut-scene in which you will be informed that Clara's permission is required to go inside.

How to find Clara in the vault

Return to Zaklepkograd and move to the Abandoned Market teleporter. Then walk forward to the quest marker. There, inspect the broken robot, which will tell you where Clara is.

Go back a little, go up the stairs on the right and engage in a fight with Fire from space level 29, which is vulnerable to physical, ice, and quantum damage. Against him, Clara and March 7 will show themselves well. Having dealt with the enemy, talk to Clara. Then return to the Svarog base.

Use the elevator to go down. Keep running after Clara. After leaving the site, engage in a fight with several robots. Then look for the girl next to the chest and the boiler.

Talk to her again and help fix the power supply. To do this, you will need to solve a small puzzle with terminals. The gif below shows the process of solving it. As a result, Clara will agree to take you to Svarog. Return to the gate and watch a new cut-scene.

    How to defeat Svarog

Before you go to the base of Svarog level 30, make sure that you have chosen the right team. You will need characters that can deal electrical, wind and fire damage. We recommend taking a group Serval, Tribute to Asta and Natasha.

Negotiations with Svarog will fail anyway, so you can choose any dialogue options. Once the battle starts, you need to focus on lowering his toughness stat as quickly as possible. To do this, you will need characters that deal elemental damage, to which the boss has a weakness.

As soon as you break through the enemy's vulnerability and deal about 20-30% damage to him, a new cutscene will begin. Natasha and Sampo will come to your aid. All your characters will be healed and their energy will be restored.

After the second penetration of the vulnerability, Svarog will summon an auxiliary robotic arm that will grab one of your characters. You need to be as soon as possible break his stamina to free a teammate. It is not necessary to destroy the hand.

We advise you to take a healer, for example, Natasha, to restore health to the characters that have been hit the most. When you break through Svarog's vulnerability for the third time, the fight will end.

Watch a long video and find out the whole truth from Svarog. Then talk to Natasha. Eventually the quest will come to an end.

As a reward, you will receive the Shadow of Destruction, the Light Pendant The Importance of Breakfast, 1000 Mastery XP, 80 Star Jades, 10 Adventure Logs, and 5 Condensed Aethers. Then the last mission of the chain called "We don't know how to say goodbye" will begin.
