Mute in True Stalker is a free stalker whom the player will have to rescue from captivity as part of an additional mission called “Masters from Cordon.”

Completing the quest “Masters from Cordon”
How to start the quest
Go to Cordon, which is located behind the railroad tracks. Find Verkhniy Khutor, the exact location can be seen on the map below.
Once you're inside, find the Fierce One. He will talk about a stalker named Mute who disappeared a couple of months ago. This will activate the “Masters from Cordon” side quest.
Where is the Mute in True Stalker
You won’t be able to complete the secondary task right away; first you need to complete the story mission “Devilhood at the Factory” and start the mission “Cache of Freedom”.
In the process of completing the main missions, a new location will open - “Dark Valley”. This is where the Mute is locked up. Below on the map we have highlighted the place where there is a niche in which there will be a grate and through it you can see the prisoner.
How to free the Mute
In order to save a man, do the following:
- Complete the story mission “Devilhood at the Factory” and proceed to the next one – “Cache of Freedom”.
- Help, I'm rotting.
- When Rotten says that he and other bandits will deal with the door to the laboratory, you can go to the Mute.
Next, we will describe and show with screenshots how to find the secret entrance to the basement where the Mute is locked.
Run to the bandits' base and go inside through the entrance shown in the image below.
There will be an iron ladder inside, climb it and walk along the wall.
Next, go inside the first passage and a little forward along the short corridor. This way you will find yourself in a red brick building.
Turn right and then immediately left. Around the bend there will be a concrete staircase. Go down two flights of stairs.
When you are there, jump down and go through the passage on the left.
Go straight and turn into the first opening, which will be located on the left side. Go straight through the sleeping bandit nearby and turn left again.
After walking quite a bit, you will see a staircase - go down it and you will find yourself in the basement.
Below you will find a cage, and next to it on the wall there is a button with which you can open the door of the cell with the prisoner. Do this and release the Mute. There won’t be much time to talk, so the stalker will tell you where he can be found later.
Reward for completing the quest “Masters from Cordon”
You can complete the side quest “Masters from Cordon” only in the fifth chapter of the game.
Go to the "Bar" location that the Mute spoke about and find the Ferocious and other stalkers sitting around the fire. After a short conversation, you will be rewarded with weapons, ammunition, an armored suit and the “Mom’s Beads” artifact.
