Walkthrough of the quest “Vocation Frustration” in Dragon's Dogma 2
How to start a task
To do this, you will need to talk to Klaus at the Vernworth Vocations Guild. The required establishment is located directly under the Shakira hotel. The passage into it is hardly noticeable, which is why it can be easily missed. The screenshots below show exactly where the desired character is located.
Enter into a dialogue with him and choose an answer "Change vocation"
. After which he will tell you about the stolen goods and inform you that the local gunsmith can reveal more information to you. The conversation will end and the quest you need will begin.
Talk to the local gunsmith
Head to the market square and chat with Roderick, who runs the forge in the northwest of the market. He will immediately tell you that the goods were stolen by goblins who set up their lair near the western road. Before going to the desired cave, we advise you to also take on the mission “Cleaning up from monsters”, since to complete it you also need to visit this mine.
How to find the Archstaff
The place you need is located in the northwest of the city, and it will take quite a long time to get there, and along the way you will probably meet dangerous monsters. For this reason, we advise you to prepare well before going there - get enough sleep to restore maximum health and stock up on supplies.
Note: If you select a task as a priority in the quest log, then one of the pawns may offer to escort you to the desired location - in this case, select the command "Act!"
and just follow your companion.
Follow the main road shown on the map above, then turn right near the cart and start walking along the small path. Soon you will reach the entrance to the mine, where you will have to deal with several goblins. Then enter the cave and light your lantern.
Run forward along the tunnel, dealing with goblins along the way. When you reach a wide area, take the left passage that leads down. You will be taken to an even larger area with several enemies. Beware of large boulders that your opponents can throw at you. Next, enter the passage between the two cobblestones.
Continue forward until you see ledges on the left that you can climb up to reach a secret area. Here you can find a chest containing Ring of Frost, reducing damage from fire attacks. Return to the main tunnel and continue forward.
Having risen, you will find yourself in another spacious area. Deal with all the enemies here, and then go through the small passage on the left. Go forward until the very end of the path until you see a chest in front of you, inside of which lies Archstaff Horns of Sorrow and 3000 gold. The exact location is shown in the last two screenshots below.
How to find a two-handed sword
After finding the staff, return to the previous spacious area and go upstairs. Then go into the right or left tunnel (they lead to the same area). Deal with the enemies and enter the passage leading down.
Follow the corridor until you find yourself in a spacious cave with two passages (one of them with a wooden door). Here you will find a chest, inside of which lies the necessary Two-handed sword. The exact location is shown in the pictures below.
Note that if you go through the wooden door and continue forward, you will soon find yourself in a spacious area with a wooden bridge - cross it to meet a group of soldiers. Chat with them to complete one of the tasks of the quest “Cleaning up the monsters”. Let's add that you can also find another chest here.
Hand over the weapon to Klaus
After obtaining the necessary equipment, return to Vernworth, and then head to the Guild of Vocations and chat with its employee. If you don't find him behind the counter, wait until morning. During the conversation, show him the two-handed sword and the archstaff. They will be removed from your inventory.
The quest will come to an end here, and as a reward you will receive 7500 gold coins, 1200 experience points and the opportunity to study Vocations Warrior and Sorcerer.
What to do if you have lost your archstaff and greatsword
Note: If you are in no hurry to open these vocations, then you don’t have to do anything at all, since they will both open automatically as soon as you complete the story mission related to attending the coronation.
Don't rush to restart the game. It is possible that you have previously visited the mine and taken these items, and then you could accidentally place them in your Storage so that they do not get in the way in your inventory. So we recommend that you first look at the warehouse, visiting a hotel or your home.
If you took the weapon, but then unknowingly sold it or threw it away, then go to the cart near the West Vernworth camp in the capital and pay the driver to take you to the Border Town in the west. Having reached the desired location, go around all the merchants in the settlement.
First of all, take a look at the assortment of your local gunsmith. You will need to purchase any two-handed sword and archstaff here. Then return to Klaus with the indicated items and give them to him.
