Walkthrough of the mission "Dream Song" in Honkai: Star Rail
How to start a task
Before you can undertake it, you will need to complete the story quest chain "In our time". Next, go to the City of Old Dreams anchor on the second floor of the Dream Stream Reef and chat with the origami bird Doctor Azure there. After the first dialogue, select an answer "About Mikhail..."
to start the corresponding task.
Question Whittaker and find out the truth
Next, talk to Chasik who appears nearby and agree to go to the gathering place of the dream-makers. To do this, go to the “Family Construction Bureau” on the Dream Frontier and enter into dialogue with Mr. Whittaker. You will receive from him an old photograph of four friends.
Then chat with Whittaker again and ask him about the photo you took. Return to Doctor Azure and ask him questions regarding the Night Thrushes. He still won’t reveal himself to you, so you’ll have to forcibly activate the bird’s Clockwork Mechanism to get into its emotional environment.
Look around and find the child
After going to the new location, chat with the birds sitting on the stairs. Then enter the painting and examine the newspaper on the table on the right. Exit the hotel room and listen to the conversation between Vaughn and Joey. You can choose any answer, as it will only slightly change the dialogue.
Take up the search for the child. Run along the corridor forward towards the marker and go into the spacious hall. Immediately turn right and interact with the dream mosaic. Next you will need to collect its fragments.
Where to find fragments of the Mosaic of Dreams
In total you have to find 3 parts, and they are all marked with markers. They are located on the lower level of the large hall. You will find the first one as soon as you go down the stairs and turn the camera to the left.
The second fragment floats next to the column and the red sofa. The last piece is behind the huge bubble. Once you have collected all the pieces, return to the mosaic and interact with it to begin solving the puzzle.
As usual, you will need to fit the pieces into the correct slots. All fragments will have to be rotated several times. The entire process of solving the riddle is demonstrated in the gif below.
Next, simply tap the frame to move to another area. Then go up to the blue bird and chat with it. Interact with the painting again to move to another location. Examine the newspapers lying on the table.
How to help Barlow
Leave the room and run to the marker pointing to the opposite room with a fireplace. Listen to the conversation between Barlow and the Hound men. Then engage in battle with three opponents. Their vulnerabilities are shown in the picture below.
After dealing with the opponents, agree to help Barlow. Two enemies will stand in your way, but you can try to sneak past them. Once out into the corridor, go to the glowing sign and talk to the dreamer again. Keep running forward. Next, a fight awaits you again. Enemy vulnerabilities are shown in the screenshot below.
To convey or not to convey Barlow's message
Even though you defeat all opponents, the dreamer will still be seriously injured, so he will not be able to go further with you, but he will ask you to tell Orla that he is sorry, since he will not be able to continue the child’s education. You can choose one of the answers:
- I'll tell you that the extermination of the Drozd clan has begun, so Barlow will want us to keep an eye on Orla.
- I will not convey anything - then Barlow will say that we must lie to Orla, saying that the dreamer left Penaconia of his own free will.
You can choose any answer, since in reality it does not in any way affect the ending or reward of the task.
Take Fischer to Orla
Touch the painting again and listen to the conversation between Fischer and the local resident. Then examine the newspapers lying on the bench directly in front of you for an optional objective. Now talk to the guy.
Next, you will need to take Fischer to Orla. The bird will be marked with a marker, so you can easily see it in the distance. Climb the stairs to the fortress and approach the origami bird to start a new conversation. Talk to Fisher again - he will give you a photo that you need to show Doctor Azure.
At the end, you need to decide what to do with Orla: wake him up or let him go. The ending of the task and the unlockable achievement will depend on this, but the reward will not change. Next, we will look at both endings so that you can choose the one that suits you best.
Let Orla go (first ending)
If you choose the second option, you will again be asked if you really think this ending is ideal. Select answer "Let the Eagle Fly"
. The bird will turn into a young man and join his friends, and then thank the Nameless One.
Returning to Dreamstream Reef, talk to Doctor Azure and address him as Orla. The child's personality had completely disappeared, so all that was left was the origami bird. Suddenly other birds appear and become a new family for the doctor. Take a photo of them together as a souvenir.
Return to the Dream Frontier and chat with Whittaker again to give him the archived documents. After the conversation, the mission will come to an end. You will unlock the achievement "Fly" and get “Doctor” and “Famous Five Origamists” stickers. You will also be given the standard reward: 200 Mastery points, 40 star jades, 5 traveler's guides, 360 hour credits, 80 thousand credits and reading items.
Wake Orla (second ending)
Having chosen the first option, you will need to confirm your decision by saying: “It’s all the more time to wake up”
. Talk to Orla a little more, and then return to Dreamstream Reef. Talk to your doctor again. He remembers his real name, but will ask you to call him Azure in the future.
Then other birds will fly in and you will take a photo with them. Orla will not consider them a real family, but this will be enough for him. Then return the notes to Whittaker to complete the quest. This way you will unlock the achievement "The Unfinished Dream Poem". The rest of the awards will remain the same as in the first final.
