Trace to the Source in Zenless Zone Zero: How to Power Construction Machines

    Zorthrus

In Zenless Zone Zero Trace to the Source is an exploration mission and part of a quest chain “Call from the depths of the cavern?..”. In it, you will have to activate three construction vehicles to determine the location of the prototype, and then defeat the Unknown Infestation Complex. If you have difficulties completing the task, then study our guide.

Walkthrough of the mission “Trace to the Source” in ZZZ

    How to start the quest

During the quest “Call from the depths of the cavern?..” you will need to talk with Kolyada and other members of the Belobog plant to discuss a plan to find and return the prototype from the cavern. After talking with them, return to your home by car, and then interact with the HDD system and find the corresponding task in the “Main Line”.

The game will advise you to take ethereal and electric characters at least level 28, warning about High danger. However, the Trial mode will be activated here, allowing you to play for already upgraded heroes, even if they are not in your collection. In this mission you will be able to try out Anton, Kolyada and Ben.

    How to power construction machines

After appearing on the playing field, go left and down to pick up the golden suitcase in the corner. Then go to the wall on the left and contact Grace to destroy the obstacle. You can now reach the observation area, thereby unlocking a new area at the top.

Climb up, picking up the first data packet along the way and standing on the square with the inscription "Sound Only" . Control panels will appear around you, with which you can move boring machine on the main field. Note that she is capable of breaking walls, but is vulnerable to explosives. The second screenshot below shows the optimal route for her.

A passage to the second control panel and a new data package will open on the right. Step on this square to take control grab. On the contrary, he is able to destroy bombs, but cannot destroy walls. The second image below shows the optimal route for him with packing his suitcase.

    Turn off the prototype

After a short cutscene, you will need to go to Grace to help her fight off the ethereals. To do this, go down and to the left. After this, the combat test will begin. In the first battle you will have to fight Plasma Cythorias and Targets. These enemies are vulnerable to Ether. Be careful, as they can launch energy balls at you from afar.

After dealing with them, engage in battle with the plasma farbauti and the flame dullahan, which are weak to Ether, but are resistant to Ice, so try not to use ice agents in this battle. The first one likes to jump towards the player, performing an area attack, while the second one makes attacks with a sword and defends itself with a shield, so it is better to hit him from behind.

We recommend that you deal with the farbauti first, as it is easier to hit due to its size, and its attacks are easier to dodge. If he plans to perform a combo with ground strikes, then immediately dash to the right or left to avoid taking damage. You shouldn't have any problems with the dullahan - the main thing is to constantly go behind his back.

    Turn off the prototype

Listen to new dialogues between members of Belabog. Returning to the playing field, you will find a funnel at the top - jump into it. As a result, you will find yourself in a new area. Start moving left towards the prototype. On the way, grab the surveillance data package, collect the ether drops (which will revive your agent if you die) and take the golden suitcase upstairs.

How to defeat the Unknown Infection Complex

Watch the comic and video, and then fight the boss, who is vulnerable to electric and ethereal attacks. He is a kind of combination of the enemies with whom you fought earlier - Hans, Gretel and Friday, that is, he will attack you with a saw, a drill and a grapple, and many of these blows will be highlighted with a red halo, that is, they will not be able to be parried.

This enemy will also have its own attacks. For example, he will launch rockets at you. They can be fought off if there is a character with a blade (for example, Enby, Soldier 11 or Ellen). Otherwise, jerk from side to side. Let's add that the enemy will also sometimes make jumps - immediately run away from him, since you will not be able to parry this attack.

Try to mostly stand behind the enemy - in this case, he will try to perform a kick with his “tail” (bucket) or one of his legs. This attack is sure to be highlighted with a yellow cross-shaped halo, so you can parry it with a perfect assist or perform a perfect dodge and counter attack. We advise you to use electric heroes to Shock the boss and stun him for a while.

At this moment, use a chain of attacks to inflict maximum damage on the enemy. If you're lucky, also use your ult. When the Unknown Infestation Complex's health reaches zero, a new cutscene will begin. After it, the second phase of the battle starts. The enemy's attacks won't change much, but they will last longer and deal more damage.

When you bring the boss's health back down to zero, it will recover again. There is no need to continue the battle. Just hold on for 20-30 seconds until a new cutscene starts (perhaps one of your agents should leave the battle). Watch it through and the order will come to an end. As a reward, you will receive 550 Internot credits, 60 polychromes, 11 thousand dennies and various materials.
