Ubisoft was developing Prince of Persia 3, but abandoned the project in 2019

It recently became known that Ubisoft had been working on Prince of Persia 3 for a long time, which was supposed to be a direct continuation of the original series from the 80-90s of the last century. As we know, the project was never announced, but the eminent game designer and cinematographer Jordan Mechner, best known for the Prince of Persia series of games, shed light on the events of four years ago in his blog.

According to published information, the game was developed by a subsidiary of the publisher and developer Ubisoft, Ubisoft Montpellier. Work on the project continued until 2019, although it is unknown when exactly development started. Curiously, the project with the same name Prince of Persia 3 had already been canceled 30 years ago - in 1993.

Despite the difficult fate of the adventures of the Prince of Persia, Ubisoft is actively preparing for the release of the 2.5-dimensional platformer Prince of Persia The Lost Crown, which will go to conquer personal computers and consoles on January 15, 2024.
