Paths in Honkai Star Rail: all character classes and their features

    Zorthrus

In Honkai: Star Rail, Paths are a kind of class into which all the characters in the game are divided. It is they who determine the role of each hero in the squad, which greatly simplifies the creation balanced teams. In this guide, we will take a closer look at all the paths, indicating their features and functions, as well as listing the fighters in them.

    What is the path

According to the lore of the game, the Paths arise from the Aeons, local deities, and are forever assigned to them. Each of them has its own philosophy and essence, followed by some individuals or even entire societies.

In simple terms, the Paths are ordinary classes like the Mage, Healer, Tank, and so on from other role-playing games. It depends on them what function the hero will perform in the group. Therefore, if you, for example, needed a healer, then you need to look for one in the path of Abundance, and if a debuffer - in Non-Being.

Naturally, no one forbids you to try to make a damage dealer out of a buffer by taking relics for damage on it and giving it an appropriate light cone. That's just its basic characteristics and abilities will not change from this, plus, the passive effect of the weapon simply will not be activated. As a result, you will get a slight output from your actions.

So when leveling and using characters, we still advise you to stick to the roles that were chosen for them by the developers themselves. There are currently 7 paths available in the game:

    Icon Name
    Destruction
    Hunting
    Erudition
    Harmony
    Nothingness
    Preservation
    abundance

Let's add that in the media and in the section dedicated to Aeons, there is information about several more Paths, which currently do not belong to any of the characters presented in the game. Perhaps they will be used in the future. These include:

    • Joy
    • Spreading
    • Development
    • enigmata
    • Gluttony
    • beauty
    • permanence
    • completeness
    • Order
    • Memory
    • Equilibrium

Below we have taken a look at each class individually, pointing out their strengths and weaknesses, as well as listing the heroes that belong to them. You will find out exactly what roles the characters of a particular Path can play.

    Destruction

    • Game description: Characters of this class have an excellent attack from the front. They are the strongest heroes in single encounters.
    • Function in the squad: main damage dealer.

We are talking about universal fighters capable of inflicting medium damage, both on single and multiple targets, and with high survivability. In addition, many of them have the abilities of other classes, for example, they can gradually heal themselves, apply shields, or be strengthened by buffs.

These heroes are great for long battles against multiple waves of enemies, such as in the Virtual Universe. It is desirable to keep at least one Destruction character in the team, which can perform the function of the main damage dealer.

Characters on the Path of Destruction

    Clara

    Pathfinder (Physical)

    Arlan

    Hook

    Hunting

    • Game description: Characters of this class are capable of inflicting incredible damage on single targets, which is very important in blitz battles.
    • Function in the squad: primary or secondary damage dealer.

They have relatively low health and defense indicators, so they definitely need support in the form of a healer or defender. But they have the highest speed values, so they often go first in battles.

With the ability to deal huge damage to single targets, they excel in battles with bosses or elite enemies. In such battles, they play the role of the main damage dealers. In other situations, they should be used as a sub-DD.

Characters on the Path of the Hunt

    Zele

    Yanqing

    Dan Heng

    Sushan

    Erudition

    • Game description: Characters of this class are capable of inflicting incredible area damage, hitting multiple enemies at once. They can turn the tide of the fight if you use their abilities at the right time.
    • Function in the squad: primary or secondary damage dealer.

The main parameters of these characters look pretty balanced, so you don't have to worry about their survivability. However, they have the lowest speed indicators, so they often go one of the last in battles. You can try to partially compensate for this lack with the help of relics or support buffs.

Their main task is to quickly destroy large groups of opponents, so they are great for passing dungeons or other tests in which waves of enemies attack you. At the same time, they can also be taken to battles with some bosses, since they are often accompanied by ordinary mobs, which must be killed as quickly as possible.

Characters on the Path of Erudition

    Himeko

    Jing Yuan

    Hertha

    Serval

    Qingque

    Harmony

    • Game description: Characters of this class are able to strengthen their teammates, increasing the overall damage of the group.
    • Function in the squad: support buffer.

They have relatively high health and defense values, therefore they are considered very tenacious heroes, but their attack rate is rather low. However, this can hardly be attributed to disadvantages, since the main task of these characters is to support their allies (increasing speed and attack, flooding energy, and so on).

It is recommended to increase their speed so that they can be the first to move in battle, giving buffs to damage dealers in advance. However, it should be noted that at the initial stages of the game, the Harmony heroes that have not been upgraded will not be of much use, so it is often better to replace them with additional hunters, erudite or destroyers.

Characters on the Path of Harmony

    Armor

    Asta

    Tingyun

    Nothingness

    • Game description: Characters of this class are able to weaken opponents, reducing their overall combat strength.
    • Function in the squad: support-debuffer and secondary damage dealer.

This Path can be conditionally divided into two more subclasses: the first one consists of heroes who impose various debuffs on enemies (for example, reduce their speed or defense), and the second one consists of fighters who deal periodic damage even when they are not on the battlefield. At the same time, both have a reduced health indicator, so they need a protector or healer.

It is desirable for debuffers to increase the speed and hit chance of effects so that they can weaken the mobs from the very beginning of the battle, and the sub-DD - the attack power, since their abilities often depend on this characteristic. As with the Harmony heroes, they will be of little use at low levels.

Characters of the Path of Nothingness

    Welt

    Kafka

    Silver Wolf

    Sang

    Sampo

    Preservation

    • Game description: Characters of this class are able to protect themselves and their allies with strong shields.
    • Function in the detachment: defender (shield).

They have high base indicators of protection and health, on which the effectiveness of their abilities often depends, which greatly simplifies their pumping. However, these heroes are deprived of speed and attack. At the same time, it is desirable that they be able to put shields on allies early, so we advise you to give them relics for speed or apply appropriate buffs to them.

In addition, these characters can also force enemies to attack only certain members of your squad. Thus, you can distract opponents from your damage dealers, who often cannot boast of high defense. We advise you to always keep one defender in the group in the absence of a healer.

Characters on the Path of Harmony

    Pathfinder (Fiery)

    March 7

    Cheetah

    Abundance

    • Game description: Characters of this class are able to heal both themselves and their allies.
    • Function in the detachment: healer (healer).

They have average values of health, defense and speed, and it is desirable to pump over the first two parameters, since, as a rule, the effectiveness of their skills depends on them. Speed is also important to them, but not paramount. Still, healing and resurrecting allies should be done after the enemies have dealt their blows.

In the absence of a defender in the team, you must have one healer. Otherwise, you simply won't be able to win in long battles with several waves of opponents. Plus, you will have to constantly revive and heal your characters after each duel.

Characters on the Path of Harmony

    Locha

    Bailu

    Natasha

These are all Paths that are present in Honkai: Star Rail at the current time. We hope that the information above has helped you understand the essence of this mechanic and understand exactly which characters your squad needs.
