At the very beginning of the game, getting out of the dying nautiloid, the player meets a stranger, closed in a capsule of ilithids. Laezel will offer not to waste time on rescuing her, but we will still tell you about all the known ways to save the girl from the capsule in Baldur's Gate 3 and what will happen if this is not done.

How to release from Shadowheart's capsule

With a strength check for a barbarian

A unique option when playing as a barbarian is that he can choose the option to check for strength in a dialogue with a stranger in a capsule. You will have to persevere and insist on this choice twice, as well as successfully pass a strength test by rolling a 10 or higher on a die.

Basic option: open the capsule through the terminal

A control terminal is located next to the capsule, when interacting with which the protagonist will notice some kind of recess for an object or key. You can find something suitable in the next room in the east - the "otherworldly rune" can be taken from the body on the balcony.

Returning with it to the terminal, activate it again. This time, the option “insert the rune into the groove” will appear in the dialog, which is what you want to do. The next phrase will trigger a difficulty 2 Wisdom check, so failing it will be quite difficult, and if successful, the capsule will open, and the girl will finally be free and agree to join your group in the future (along with a mystical item that accompanies her everywhere).

If you're wondering who else can join you on this challenging adventure, check out our guide to all possible companions in the game.

Is it possible not to save the girl from the capsule?

Where to find Shadowheart after the crash

If you successfully rescue Shadowheart and participate in the final battle on the ship, you will find her on the sand near the crash site and bring her to her senses.

If you follow Laezelle's advice and decide to ignore the imprisoned prisoner's pleas for rescue, she will somehow get out on her own after the crash of the nautiloid. In this case, you will be able to meet her at the door of the dungeon on the beach. By the way, in these ruins there is another non-playable satellite for your camp, which we wrote about in a separate article.

And finally, if you miss meeting her in all the places described, she will join the refugees in the druid grove, where you can also call her to your squad.

The murder of a girl in a capsule

Yes, this scenario is also possible. When using something with area damage, such as an acid bomb, you can reduce the girl's health to zero right in the capsule. Then you can take from her that poor set of equipment that she owns at the start of the game, and get a mysterious artifact that is chasing the priestess everywhere - now it will become your burden.
