In Genshin Impact The Strange Eel is an unusual creature that you can find in the underwater area of the northern half of Fontaine. This sea creature is mobile puzzle, for solving which players will receive chests with primogems and Hydro Seals. From our guide you will learn where to find and how to stop the rapid movement of a strange eel.

Solving the Strange Eel puzzles

The strange Unagi Meat looks like a fast-moving plume of water and can be found in numbers of one to two individuals.

In order to temporarily stop the eel and get a reward, you need to send the ability of xenochrome creatures to it: the best option would be jellyfish (since their water Klee: Explosive has a wide blast radius), but armored crabs and razorbacks are also suitable. Regardless of your choice, keep in mind the most important thing: in places where two strange creatures meet at once, you will have to attack two at the same time.

All the strange eels on the Fontaine map

In search of strange eels, head to the north of the Hydro Kingdom: you need to visit 9 points of interest underwater in the Liffey and Kinetic Energy Institute areas. More than half of these places can be found nearby Meropida fortress, and only a couple of eels live in the eastern channel near the New Fontaine Research Institute. Next, let's look at each of them in more detail.

Strange Unagi Meat 1

Location: Eastern Strait in the area of the Institute of Kinetic Energy.
Reward: regular chest.

We suggest starting your search from the strait in the east, above which there are Hydro Cubes (their research can be started as part of the quest “ The Fontaine Research Institute, Stagnating in the Rubble "). From the marked teleport, run to the water and dive, and then move to the area indicated on the map.

At the bottom you will meet the first strange Unagi Meat, and not far from it a xenotemple jellyfish will swim: attack it with a skill and get the first chest.

We advise you to collect the jellyfish skill in the place with the first puzzle and move by swimming or walking underwater teleports, so as not to lose the ability, thus clearing all 9 locations at once.

Strange Unagi Meat 2

Location: Underwater south of the New Fontaine Research Institute.
Reward: regular chest.

From the previous location, swim west to the coastal area: another target is moving in front of the flooded stone column.

Strange Unagi Meat 3

Location: southeast of Meropid Fortress.
Reward: rich chest.

The next point of interest is near the teleport to the southeast of the Meropid prison: two strange eels are circling on the algae-filled bottom. Wait until both creatures are close to each other, and then hit them with the E-shank. For solving this puzzle you will be given a rich chest.

Strange Unagi Meat 4

Location: southeast of the Liffey underwater area.
Reward: rich chest.

Then swim to the sandy bottom to the south: a strange Unagi Meat is circling between the armored crabs and for its “destruction” a rich chest is awarded.

Strange Unagi Meat 5

Location: southwest of the Liffey underwater area.
Reward: rich chest.

From the place with the 5th trophy, swim up to the southwest: two more strange creatures are moving in the underwater clearing in front of the rock. This couple is circling over a large radius and the easiest way to neutralize them is to send a jellyfish bomb in advance and then wait for the right moment to explode. This puzzle also rewards a rich chest.

Location: East of Meropid Fortress.
Reward: rich chest.

Now return to the teleport, near which there were 3 strange eels, and from it head northeast to the building with the pipeline. In front of the iron building, you can find two more individuals, and a xenochrome jellyfish swims comfortably next to them.

Strange Unagi Meat 7

Location: The Fortress of Meropide.
Reward: rich chest.

Now swim straight to the underwater prison building: on the lower tier of the structure there is a protruding part, in a circle of which two eels are moving. Wait until the creatures are as close to each other as possible and use a special skill on them, and then take the chest from the western side of the fortress.

Strange Unagi Meat 8

Location: North of the Liffey underwater area.
Reward: rich chest.

From the prison building, swim north towards the cave leading to boss seahorse. At the marked place, deal with two more eels and take away a rich prize.

Location: northeast of the Liffey underwater area.
Reward: rich chest.

And the last point of interest is northeast of the 8th trophy: swim up to the edge of the map and stop one strange eel circling near the armored crabs. There is also one xenochrome armored crab (short pressing E-shki with a shield is also very suitable for stopping the creature). Finally, take the last rich chest.
