In Genshin Impact The Red Meanies is a dangerous underwater creature that lives at the bottom of the waters of the Hydro Region. Destroying these creatures, which look like bizarre red "fruits", often involves solving Fontaine's mysteries, and the pranksters themselves are capable of taking away the hero’s HP, as well as recovering in cases where the puzzle is solved incorrectly. From our guide you will learn where all the Scarlet Pranksters are and how to destroy them.
How to solve riddles with the Red Meanies
This motionless creature can cause you a lot of problems if you linger near it for a long time - the fruits are periodically damaged by a blast wave. They can be found either singly or in numbers of 2, 3, 4 and even 5 individuals. The destruction strategy depends on their number, but the main thing to remember is: if there is more than one fruit, then you will have to blow them all up at the same time. There are two very effective tactics:
- Destruction with skills xenochrome jellyfish or short press E-shki xenochrome armored crab : The shock wave of these creatures is capable of exploding an unlimited number of scarlet fruits if they are close enough to each other;
- Combining the explosive skill of a jellyfish + short pressing a normal attack on the nearest Scarlet Prankster: in those situations when you cannot cover all the fruits with one explosion, you need to send a bomb to the distant ones, and swim up to one of the creatures and simultaneously press attack and E-shka ( their regeneration has a small cooldown, so you can first detonate the jellyfish's projectile and then immediately attack the lone fruit).
Although the skills of all xenochrome creatures are suitable for destroying fruits, the most convenient ones will still be the jellyfish and the crab: you can track their location by interactive map of Fontaine.
All Scarlet Pranksters on the Fontaine map
The location of the dangerous scarlet “fruits” should be sought in the north of the Hydro Kingdom: the pranksters live underwater in the area between the areas of the Liffey and the Institute of Kinetic Energy. Of those that will bring players rewards and useful items, we can highlight 17 places. Next, we will consider each of them separately.
There is also a hidden achievement associated with the destruction of the Scarlet Pranksters " The Red Meanies’ Revenge ", which we will talk about at the end of the article.
Scarlet Pranksters No. 1
Let's start from the strait, located southeast of the New Fontaine Research Institute: move to the nearest teleporter and get to the area marked in the screenshot. There are 5 scarlet “fruits” waiting for you, located around the locked chest. There is a jellyfish floating not far from here: get its skill, and then throw a bomb at the center of the puzzle (first screenshot below) and explode it: the wave will affect all creatures and the chest is yours.
We advise you to leave the xenochrome jellyfish skill (you don’t need to get out of the water for this), and use only underwater teleports to move: this way you won’t have to waste time looking for the ability near a new riddle every time.
Scarlet Pranksters No. 2
Now swim along the underwater gorge to the west and turn into a nook to the south: there are 4 scarlet pranksters stuck to the flooded ruins.
To unlock another rich chest, use the second tactic: send a bomb towards the three fruits near the rocks (approximately in the chest area), and then detonate it and immediately hit the fruit on the stone column.
Scarlet Pranksters No. 3
Swim to the nearest teleport to the west: near it there are two pranksters standing at a distance from each other. You'll only find something useful in the one closer to the move point (hit it to get a research item that stores some Mora).
Scarlet Pranksters No. 4
Follow further west: before reaching the sunken tower, the exploration of which takes place as part of the quest " In Search of Lost Time: South ", swim to the southern half above the gorge and destroy three more “fruits”, for which they will also only give you a part with a pestilence.
Scarlet Pranksters No. 5
You can now move from the teleport in the north of the underwater zone (to the place above the arena with seahorse boss ). On the vertical part of the rock there is a Stone Slate with pranksters.
As soon as you destroy the Hurdle (throw a jellyfish bomb at the pranksters), a stream of water will burst out from under the stone barrier, attracting the bubble-fort. For solving this puzzle you will also be given a rich chest.
Scarlet Pranksters No. 6
To the west of the previous place there is a pipe in which not only the creatures of interest to us are located, but also connected with them puzzle with stabilizer : you can see its solution from separate guide.
Scarlet Pranksters No. 7
Three more creatures are located near the shore (north of the previous point of interest).
Blow up three pranksters at once with one shell, or pick up the ability of the xenochrome armored crab swimming next to the puzzle, swim up to approximately the center of the puzzle and briefly press E-shka: the appearance of the shield will cause an impulse that will undermine the fruits and unlock a rich trophy.

The next waypoint is near the steel structure to the south. The solution to this puzzle was discussed in the guide to the task “ Our Purpose Is in Another Canal "
Scarlet Pranksters No. 9
To get to the ninth place, swim west from the previous place (or use the nearby teleporter), and then go down and turn the camera to the south: scarlet fruits are blocking some passage. First of all, destroy the interference with the E-shock from the jellyfish.
In the cave that opens there is a puzzle with switches and hydro barriers. Pay attention to the sequence of its solution:
- Activate the blue Elemental Reaction: Crystallize on the right and swim forward until you hit the field;
- Turn around and, without floating away, switch the same Elemental Reaction: Crystallize from behind again;
- Swim forward a little more to the blocked crystal, turn around and once again switch the one at the entrance to the cave (but this time with the help of a bomb);
- Now all that remains is to hit the second crystal and wait until the bubble fort floats to the ring.
The reward for solving this chain of switch interactions will give you access to a rich chest.
Scarlet Pranksters No. 10
After getting out of the cave with the 9th puzzle, swim to the side Meropida fortress : on the rock on the left there is another barrier with pranksters: breaking it, you will find ousia sphere and a detail with mora.

Now head to the cave in the west of the underwater area, above which is waterfall on the Eastern slope of Mont Esus (passage location in the screenshot above).
Below is another puzzle with scarlet “fruits”. When solving it, use the second tactic for destroying creatures: throw a bomb towards two fruits above the chest, and then swim to the lower one and make a double attack: a successful explosion from above and a blow to the nearest prankster will remove the block from the trophy.

Scarlet Pranksters No. 12
The twelfth location can be found in the south of the exploration area, roughly above the Meropid underground complex area: get to the marked area where there are three scarlet creatures.
We throw a jellyfish bomb towards the two fruits on the left, and then swim up to the far right creature and make a simultaneous attack (strike + E-shka explosion): instead of the destroyed pranksters, one rich chest will appear.
Scarlet Pranksters No. 13
From the previous 12th place, go up a little to the south: on the destroyed ship near the rock there are three more pranksters and an ordinary chest.
Following the example of the previous puzzle, also send a bomb to the left side between two fruits, and then swim to the right one and make a synchronized attack with an explosion: by destroying the interference, you will remove the block from the reward.
Scarlet Pranksters No. 14
Follow further south to the next place marked on the map above.
On the eastern side of the strait, not far from the exit from the water, there are three Scarlet Pranksters: blow them up at the same time with an E-shki shell and get a rich prize.
Scarlet Pranksters No. 15
Now swim down to the opposite side of the area: in front of you will be some ruins with a locked switch in front of it.
First, break the wall with blue cracks using an explosion from the E-shki, and then activate the Elemental Reaction: Crystallize.
Swim inside the ruins, where two Scarlet Fruits await you: one at the entrance, and the other behind the bars on the left. You need to place the jellyfish bomb so that the explosion affects both creatures (approximately in front of the closed passage).
All that remains is to switch the Elemental Reaction: Crystallize at the entrance (without leaving the ruins), and then swim into the room with the precious chest. Note that the actions of exploding fruits and switching the crystal can be swapped.
Scarlet Pranksters No. 16
Swim out of the ruins with the 15th puzzle, in which we received a precious chest, and look around: nearby there are two Scarlet “fruits” that will also need to be destroyed at the same time.
Choose one of the creatures as a target for a bomb, and hit the other with a normal blow to collect the penultimate rich box.
Scarlet Pranksters No. 17
And the last puzzle is located south of the previous 16th place: swim to the underwater clearing where three scarlet creatures live.
To destroy it, just throw a bomb and activate the projectile between the fruits: a rich chest will appear in the place of one of them.
Achievement “The Red Meanies’ Revenge”
This hidden achievement for 5 Primogems is also associated with the destruction of the Scarlet Pranksters, but can only be obtained during the launch Forging press — you can learn about this mechanism and method of obtaining achievements from separate manual.
