In Honkai: Star Rail Critter Pick is the main event of patch 1.6, during which you will raise various creatures using the Furnace of Life, giving them special traits. You will also have to discover recipes for growing rarities and solve various puzzles while controlling Pippi. As a reward, you will be able to receive star jade, credits, upgrade materials, and a unique message theme.
How to start the Critter Pick event
The event starts on the release date of update 1.6, that is, December 27, 2023, and will last until February 5, 2024 03:59 (server time). After finishing it, it will be moved to the “Immortal Memoirs” category, and you can complete it at any time. However, to open access to it, you will first have to fulfill a couple of conditions, namely:
- Upgrade your Mastery level, at least up to rank 24.
- Complete the continuation mission of Mastery entitled "Burn, Shine, My Star of Genius", which is part of the quest chain "The Crown of Mortal and Divine".
Having dealt with these requirements, you will automatically receive an adventure mission, the completion of which will give you access to the challenges of the event.
Growing Creatures with the Furnace of Life
At the Hertha space station, they began to analyze the genetic components of the creatures presented by Ruan Mei. However, the sample was not large enough, so there was a need to grow additional creatures. To do this, use the furnace of life - you need to place a couple of parent creatures in it to get new animals.
Creature traits (basic and mutational)
Each creature has certain characteristics that can be divided into basic and mutational. The first includes: shell, pattern and filler, and the second: eyes and decorations.
Basic characteristics are passed on from parents and are chosen randomly. As you complete quests, you will be able to obtain creatures with different basic characteristics.
As for mutations, we are talking about random events that occur during cultivation and depend on what materials were added by players.
Special mutation and rarity
Let’s add that as part of completing quests you will be able to gain access to new recipes for growing rarities. The process for obtaining them is as follows:
Collect all the basic signs, after which the furnace of life will show you a probability analysis indicating the chance of triggering a mutation.
When a special mutation is activated, you need to add certain materials to it to obtain rarity.
Research Level
When you receive new signs of creation or rarity, research points will be added to your profile. Collect them to increase your research rank and receive additional rewards.
Placing Creatures
To improve the life of creatures, divide the Isolated Zone into various functional areas: feeding, resting, and so on. You can apply graffiti to different areas to distinguish them from each other.
If you think that there are too many creatures, you can give some of them to the Ecology Department.
Puzzles with Pippi
You will learn that Pippi has a special synesthesia beacon installed on him, allowing him to speak with others using telepathy. As a result, you will be able to control it while solving various riddles.
Exotic Pet Hunt event rewards
Until the event moves to the “Immortal Memoirs” section, you will be able to receive temporary rewards for completing it, which include 500 star jades, 1 imprint of fate, credits and various materials for leveling up.
Standard remuneration can be received at any time. It includes 250 Star Jades, upgrade materials, credits, and a unique message topic called “Star Petri Dish.”
