Where to find Iris of Occultation in Shadow of the Erdtree
Iris of Occultation 1
Travel to Fort Rebuke, which is located in the southern part of Shadow Altus, southeast of the Place of Grace "Cross by the Road". Go inside the fortress, immediately turn left, go to the wall and jump down the hole. Then go down it into the pit with corpses. Approach the bodies and you will suddenly be attacked by a masked killer.
Be careful, as this enemy can deal massive damage with his big swords, so don't let him attack first. As soon as you deal with the enemy, a white light will appear on the ground - interact with it to get the first iris of darkness.
Iris of Occultation 2
She can be found in Shadow Haven. First, get to the "Church Circle Passage" by teleporting to "Church Circle Route", and then going northwest. You will see that the lower levels of the fortress are flooded, so the first thing you will need to do is drain the water.
Walk forward, jump onto the roof of the flooded building and start moving northwest. You will need to jump to another roof using the visor and sprint. Next, turn right, climb up the dilapidated wall and jump over to the ledge on the right.
Run west, jumping over to another roof, and then turn left and deal with the fire knight. Go to the left edge of the lower roof and jump onto the stone structure attached to the building - use it to climb up to the roof of the church. Now look for a hole in the roof and jump down onto the cross-shaped bridges below.
Once inside the building, jump down the rift in the floor to reach the floor below. Run forward and go through the open passage, then immediately turn left. Once outside, turn left again and go up the steps. Then use the wooden ladder to climb even higher and interact with the lever, which will remove the water from the location.
After watching the video with the water leaving, go down the stairs and go through the passage on the left, and then jump down. Exit the tower and you will find yourself on the lower level of the castle. Turn southeast and enter the cathedral to activate the Grace Place. Continue in a southeast direction and exit the building.
Next, turn left and run along the water along the trees to the stone building ahead, but do not enter it. Instead, turn west and follow the alley forward. After 20-30 steps, turn north, and you will feel an earthquake, and then it will come out of the ground Ulcerated Tree Spirit. Defeat this mini-boss to automatically drop the second Dark Iris.
Where to find irises of grace in Shadow of the Erdtree
Iris of Grace 1
Get to a place of grace "Storage, first floor". To do this, go to the "Main Gate Square" and then go through the passage in the northwest, go up the steps and turn right to the wooden stairs. Climb it even higher.
Next, enter the dining room, where you need to go through the passage in the southeast. Once outside again, continue running in a southeast direction, and then turn northeast, pass the fire knight and use the lift.
Having risen, run forward along the steps and activate the fire you need in the Sample Storage. Now turn left from it, walk along the books on both sides and turn into the passage even further to the left, moving west. Then take the second elevator, which will take you down.
Exit the lift and immediately turn right and then left into the passage from which a pot will jump out. Get out onto the balcony and jump down from it into the main hall of the cathedral. Turn around and you will see a white light near the stone stand, which is the iris of grace you need.
Iris of Grace 2
Important: Some players note that on their first playthrough they found a rainbow of grace here, and on the second playthrough they found darkness. Unfortunately, we do not yet know what exactly is associated with the change of objects, so in your case you may well find a different iris in the location below.
Navigate to place of grace in the church area where you previously defeated the Ulcerated Tree Spirit to collect the Iris of Darkness from it, then go through the southeast passage and head northeast to the large gnarled tree. Turn left from it and enter the building.
Continue running northwest and turn right near the red lights. Move in a northeast direction, passing from one structure to another. Then go down to the door, open it and use the elevator to go down. Here you will find another “bonfire”.
After activating it, start walking along the tunnel to the exit, and then jump off the ledge, walk across the suspension bridge and go inside the building. Here you will find a statue of Marika, next to which there will be an iris of grace or darkness.
How to use Grace and Occultation Irises in Shadow of the Erdtree
Irises are a key consumable that fall into the same item category as Mikella's Needle, meaning you can break them to apply effects on yourself or use them when completing quests fire knight Quiline And night swordswoman Yolana.
Note that if you use the Iris of Darkness on yourself, you will get the same effect as from the runic arc, that is, you will activate your Great Rune, but at the same time you will lose all the runes you have on you. Iris of Grace works in a similar way, except it doesn't burn your runes. However, we strongly advise against breaking these items.
Which iris to use on Quiline
You can find it in the Prayer Room in Shadow Haven. In separate guide on his quest, we described in detail how to get to him. You can give him both the rainbow of darkness and grace:
- If you transfer the Iris of Darkness, you will receive Quiline's Two-Handed Sword - a unique heavy piercing sword that deals physical and fire damage, and is also upgraded by ordinary blacksmith stones. It can be buffed and equipped with any Ashes of War. Overall, this is a good sword for fans of this type of weapon.
- If you hand over the Iris of Grace, you will receive the ashes of summoning the Fire Knight Quilain. We are talking about an average spirit, which is inferior to the same Mimic, so on the first playthrough we do not recommend giving him this iris.
Which iris to use on Yolan
After defeating Ymir, the Mother of Fingers in the Cathedral of Manus Metir on his quest, rest at the nearest "bonfire" and return to the throne room. Here, near the column, you will find a wounded Yolana - you can use one of the irises on her:
- If you give her the Darkness Iris, you'll be rewarded with the Night Sword, which is a cool-looking katana with average stats. It can be strengthened blacksmith stones of darkness. Despite its appearance, we do not recommend knocking it out. However, this can be done during a replay.
- If you give her the iris of grace, you will receive the ashes of the summoning night swordswoman Yolana. She also cannot be called a powerful spirit, but you can significantly strengthen it by combining it with the Anna doll. In this case, you will be able to summon two allies at once, which will be very useful in any battle.
