In Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree Fire Knight Queelign is a new character with his own storyline, upon completion of which you can receive either a unique summoning ashes or a good two-handed sword. In this guide, we will tell you how to start and complete the quest, as well as which iris - darkness or grace - should be given to the defeated warrior.
Walkthrough of the Fire Knight Queelign quest in Shadow of the Erdtree
Where to find Quiline for the first time
You can first encounter the Fire Knight in Belurath, a tower settlement located in the northwestern part of the Tombstone Plain. Get to a place of grace "Small private altar" and exit through the passage in the northwest, and then go up the steps to reach the ruins.
Next, turn right and start moving northeast until you go down the stairs and find yourself in a small area with a gnarled tree growing in the center. As soon as you approach him, Quiline will immediately invade your world and a battle with him will begin. This enemy is quite good at wielding a heavy piercing sword with fire damage, so be careful.
Once you deal with him, you will get from him Emblem of the sacred campaign, which hints at the place where you can meet him a second time.
Where to find Quiline the second time
This can be done in Temple of the sacred march, located in Shadow Altus. If you do not yet have a piece of a map of this location, then we advise you to get it. So get to the place of grace "Cross by the Road", and then start moving northwest towards the large religious building.
As soon as you approach the Marika statue, you will be attacked again by Quiline, who will use the same attacks against you as last time, so this battle is unlikely to be a problem for you. Now it will drop War Ashes "Burning Skewer" and Prayer room key which you will need later.
Where to find Quiline for the third time (prayer room)
So now head to the Shadow Haven, located in the northern part of Shadow Altus. Navigate to "Church Circle Route", and then move northwest and reach the place of grace "Passage to the Church Circle".
Then go forward, jump onto the roof of the flooded building and start moving northwest. You will need to jump to another roof using the visor and sprint. Next, turn right, climb up the dilapidated wall and jump over to the ledge on the right.
Run west, jumping over to another roof, and then turn left and deal with the fire knight. Go to the left edge of the lower roof and jump onto the stone structure attached to the building - use it to climb up to the roof of the church. Now look for a hole in the roof and jump down onto the cross-shaped bridges below.
Once inside the building, jump down the rift in the floor to reach the floor below. Then start running in a northeast direction and open the small wooden door ahead. Its exact location is shown in the pictures below.
Inside the chapel you will find the Fire Knight Quiline lying on the floor - chat with him. You won't get any meaningful answer from him unless you have the Iris of Darkness and/or Grace with you, so if you don't have these items, you'll have to find them first.
Give Quilain the Iris of Darkness or Grace
So, having obtained both irises or already having them with you, talk with the Fire Knight again and decide what exactly to use on him - your reward will depend on this.
If you give the fanatic the rainbow of grace, you can finally bring him relief, and he will immediately disappear. As a reward you will receive summoning ashes "Fire Knight Quiline". This is a fairly average spirit, so if you were only able to find one Iris of Grace, then we advise you to save it for Yolana.
If you use the iris of darkness on him, you will receive from him Quilain's Two-Handed Hand, which is a heavy piercing sword that can be buffed and given a unique skill using Ashes of War. To upgrade it, regular blacksmithing stones are required. It has the following characteristics:
- Physical Damage: 117-298 (+25)
- Fire damage: 35-88 (+25)
- Scaling: Strength (D->D), Dexterity (D->C), Faith (D->D)
- Requirements: Strength (14), Dexterity (18) and Faith (12)
This is a pretty good blade for those who like to use piercing weapons, as you can easily adapt it to your playstyle. For this reason, we still advise you to use the Iris of Darkness on Quiline. This concludes his quest in Shadow of the Erdtree.
