Walkthrough of the Baghdad story "A Life's Work"
How to start a task
To start the task, you need to go to Abbasiya, namely to the Observatory, near which the old man Al-Makhani is sitting on a bench. He will complain of severe chest pain. Follow him a few steps until he falls and asks you to find three pages of a treatise for him. If you don't wait until the old man falls and talk to him, the quest won't start.
Where to find treatise pages
When using Eagle Vision, only one page of the treatise can be found. Finding all three leaves is more difficult than traditional collectibles such as e.g lost books.
First page easiest to detect. It is located on the roof of a nearby building - to the left of where you met Al-Makhani. When you get close to the leaf, it will begin to fly away. Eventually the page will stop at the corner of the Observatory and can be picked up.
Second page hidden inside the Observatory. The door is located opposite the bench on which Al-Makhani sat. But you can’t just enter the building - the door is closed. To get inside, you need to go around the building and move the bookshelf.
Then you need to stand on it and use a throwing knife to unlock the lock on the door (as shown in the screenshot below).
Enter the building and pick up the next page from the table.
Third page located at the top of the Observatory. From where Al Makhani is, walk along the tightrope and ledges using the vines on the wall. Next, turn the corner to the east side of the building.
There you can land on a ledge where there is a bookshelf that can be moved to the wall. Climb it to get to the top of the Observatory. Here on the table near the huge mechanism you will find the last page.
When you return to the scientist, you will see that Al Makhani is dead, and his son is nearby. In a dialogue with a man there will be two answer options:
“The most important thing to him was the treatise.”
“You were the most important thing to him.”
Whatever you choose, it will not affect the course of the game. Al-Makhani's son will get angry and leave, and you will complete the "Life's Work" quest and also receive one skill point.
