"The Man Who Killed Jason Foreman" in the Phantom Liberty expansion to Cyberpunk 2077 - This is another order that V receives from Mr. Hands. The main character needs to find out what happened in the coastal slums, find the former mercenary Leon Rinder and decide his future fate.

From our guide you will learn: how to find all the evidence at the crime scene, where Rinder is hiding and what future fate to choose for him.

How to start the mission "The Man Who Killed Jason Foreman"

Order available only after completing the story mission "Old Wounds" and is located in a location called "Shore Slums".

As soon as you approach the slums, Mr. Hands will call you and give you an introduction: you need to meet with the informal head of the slums, Briana, to find out from her the details of the crime.

It is important that you can meet Briana only from 22:00 to 6:00.

At night, you will find Briana downstairs in the "main square" of the slum, she will calm down one of the residents. Wait for the end of the scene and follow Briana to the balcony.

She will talk about herself, and then explain the essence of her request: the residents of the slums want to get justice for Leon Rinder. He committed a mass murder, the victim of which, among other people, was the aspiring fixer Jason Foreman.

Briana will give V the encrypted “sliver.” Hack it and read the archived dialogue. A new goal will appear in the task, and a new point on the map - a motel.

You then have a choice: search the area to find clues, or go straight to the motel where Rinder is hiding.

Walkthrough of the quest “The Man Who Killed Jason Foreman”

    Location of evidence

You can search for them in any order. This guide covers the fastest option for collecting all the evidence.

First is located under the balcony where the conversation with Briana was. Jump down and look to the left. There, on the wall, there will be bullet marks. By the way, Johnny will give his opinion on each piece of evidence, which will help to form an idea about Rinder.

Second evidence – a pool of blood – you will find very close, to the left of the wall with holes.

Then turn around and walk towards the wrecked car. Here it is third clue – traces from army boots.

When searching for evidence, other objects that fell under Rinder's distribution will also be highlighted - a car near which there are traces of army boots, a broken fence on the roof of a house nearby. Using them, you can reconstruct the approximate chronology of events, but finding them is not necessary.

    Go to a motel

Follow the objective marker, which will lead you to the parking lot of the motel where Rinder is hiding.

The entrance is guarded by one bandit. You can silently eliminate him in order to leave yourself the opportunity to pass secretly.

Johnny will appear in the motel lobby and tell you that organ traffickers have settled here. You will be faced with the first moral dilemma in the task: go secretly or eliminate all enemies. Our guide looks at the shootout option.

    Motel Walkthrough

    First floor

There is a convenient shooting position in the hall - cover behind the counter. Before occupying it, eliminate the bandit behind the counter. From the far hall you will be attacked by three opponents with rifles, and on the right, from the kitchen, two more.

After eliminating all the enemies on the floor, you will have the opportunity to look around. On a table in the back room you can find a machine gun, which Rinder most likely fired from.

    Second floor

There will be three enemies in the room to the left of the stairs. Move on and be careful - a bandit with a knife and another with a pistol will be waiting for you in the corridor. Behind them is the door on the third floor of the motel.

In one of the rooms you will find a mannequin with Rinder's body armor.

Also in the room with the operating table and the woman on it (it is nearby after entering the second floor) there is message terminal. They tell the story of Rinder's encounter with organ traffickers.

    Third floor

Rinder's room is at the end of the corridor, on the left. There are no opponents on the floor, only unhappy people watching the brain dance. And to the right of Rinder's room is the place where he was "operated on."

Do not rush into the room, because immediately after opening the door you will be attacked miniboss Yakov Ivanov. Look around to get your bearings better.

Before fighting him, it's worth remembering:

    • Yakov has a decent amount of health points; he will have to shoot a lot.
    • Sometimes he goes invisible. At the same time, his silhouette is visible.
    • Throws poison grenades.
    • You can use your deck on him to make the fight easier.

    Kill Rinder

After defeating Yakov, go into the room. This is where you will have a branching point. : Kill Rinder outright or engage in conversation with him.

You can kill him either by shooting at him with your weapon or by choosing the appropriate line during the dialogue with him. In this case, there will be no continuation of the conversation, and all you have to do is pick up the token and return to the slums to Briana.

    Don't kill Rinder

Listen to the conversation with him. Rinder is a former Barghest soldier who worked for the group for several years, and now, as soon as he fell ill, he was abandoned. Leon decided to sell his implants to one fixer - Jason Foreman. But he also wanted to deceive him. Rinder remembers nothing about the massacre.

Main choice what to do with Rinder, occurs at the end of the dialogue with him.

Select replica: “Death will be salvation for you, not punishment.”

In this answer option, Rinder will silently give you his token. His further fate is unknown, and you can return to Briana for your reward.

Select replica: “I advise you to choose your words.”

After the line “I advise you to choose your words,” V will put a gun to Rinder’s head and another choice will open to you.

    Select: “Give me your badge.”

Finish the dialogue with Rinder and take the token. The former mercenary will disappear from the life of Night City for a while. In a few days, he will send V a message that he wants to help the families who suffered from his atrocity. Regardless of the choice to dissuade him or agree with him, Rinder will still do as he sees fit.

You can find out if he tried to help the families if you come to the slums again. Briana will call you and categorically forbid you from informing the relatives of the victims that Rinder survived, and will ask you not to appear in the slums anymore.

This choice will allow you to save Rinder's life and open his next quest "Les Miserables", for which you will receive iconic shotgun "Deserter".

Select replica: "Call Regina and ask for help."

This option is only available if you previously selected “Let me remind you exactly what you did.”. V will convince Rinder that he has cyberpsychosis.

Rinder will contact Regina Jones to get him out of here and give V his token. And in a few days he will send V a message with gratitude and the coordinates of his hiding place, after which the task “Forsaken” will begin.

    Reward

After any option you choose, collect the token, go back to the slums to Briana and receive your reward. Mr. Hands will call you immediately and close your order.

    The fate of Leon Rinder

Leon Rinder is a former Barghest mercenary. For eight years he killed, gave himself combat implants and, apparently, thought that such a life would never end. But at a certain moment, illness overtook him. Most likely, cyberpsychosis or some form of amnesia, since he was unable to remain mentally healthy after his actions.

At that moment, the Barghest no longer needed him; he was abandoned. Rinder, desperate to find money, contacted Jason Foreman, an aspiring fixer from the slums. During the deal, Jason, according to Rinder, deceived him. Leon doesn't remember anything, but the fact remains that he committed mass murder.

Rinder then contacted organ dealers, where we found him. Now, without his combat implants, barely alive, Rinder poses no threat. Despite this, Yakov Ivanov was still assigned to his security.

Rinder is, as Johnny says, a victim, another life ruined. He repents for past crimes, but not for the massacre in the slums, since for him such situations were once commonplace.

Whether Leon Rinder lives or not is a difficult choice. But what is clear is that if you order him to call Regina Jones and give him a chance to start over, Rinder will change.

We hope our guide helped you successfully complete this task and understand all its intricacies.
