To do this, you will need to find the owner of the poisonous creature, search Flimm's Cargoes and decide what to do with the inventor Red Hammer. Walkthrough of the quest “Avenge the Drowned” in Baldur's Gate 3

    How to start a task

Important: To avoid all sorts of bugs, we highly recommend that you take on this mission after participating in the coronation of Gortash, but before killing him, as well as before visiting the Iron Throne prison and raising the alarm in the Steel Guard foundry.

Head to the House of the Lady of the Waters, which is located in the southwestern part of the Lower City, just below the Gray Bay Docks teleportation point. As you approach the temple, you will be stopped by apprentice Diomira Trellis, who will tell you about the funeral of Servant Holly and note that you can attend it.

Go a little further south, into the depths of the temple, from where the singing can be heard, and talk with Allandra Sera, who is performing the last ritual rites. During the conversation, she will tell you in detail how Holly died and ask you what gifts you will leave to honor her memory. Choose any answer, as Tidal Wave will ask you to find the killer anyway. She will show you the place of death of the servant and tell you about the appearance of “black blood”.

Let's add what you can apply "Talking to the Dead" on Holly's body to question her about the death. It’s true that you won’t be able to learn much from her. She will only report that someone attacked her (a metal monster), hitting her hard on the head, and there was “Black Blood” everywhere. The attack took place in Gray Bay.

Where to find the owner of a poisonous creature

Travel to Gray Bay and find the fishermen who witnessed Holly's death. We're talking about Flair and Goulan (X: -213, Y: -155), which can be found directly opposite the teleport, near the water. Enter into a dialogue with the latter and ask him the following questions:

    1. Oil? Isn't this black blood?
    2. I'm investigating the death of a wave maiden. Do you know anything about this?
    3. Have you seen anything else unusual?

As a result, you will learn that a strange object was in the water and floated towards the docks opposite, where the Flimm Cargoes are located.

    Search Flimm's Cargoes

The building you need is located a little further to the east. You can simply bypass the water hazard by first going north and then going south again. Reach the double metal doors (X: -169, Y: -148), and you will see a trail of oil if you pass the Attention check. Then hack them (Sleight of Hand 20) to open them.

Note: You can also get inside through the roof by going to the east side of the building, climbing onto the roof and opening the door on the metal platform, passing a Sleight of Hand check (15). You can also get here through sewerage or the Accounts Chamber.

Once inside the building one way or another, you will encounter a group of cartilages. These enemies are not very dangerous, especially if you make your way into the building from above, as you can safely fire at your opponents from a safe distance. After defeating the enemies, you will not discover the creature that killed Holly.

However, here you can find a hatch (X: -162, Y: -142), leading to the basement. It is located in the corner of the building and is littered with various boxes and crates, so first you will have to move them to another place, and then interact with the hatch.

Once in the basement of Flimm's Cargo, go to the prison block to the south, and then to the machine parts storage even further south. Having opened the doors, you will see thieves' tools in front of you and hellish iron lying on the floor. Along the way you can open chests to find Water Labor (X: -1091, Y: 326) and the Red Hammer diary (X: -1021, Y: 294), which may further explain the inventor's motives.

What to do with the inventor Red Hammer

Go to the Underwater Dock and go down. On a metal platform installed above the submarine, you will find the inventor of the Red Hammer, with whom you will need to talk.

Note: If the gnome and water transport are not here, it means that you have violated one of the conditions we specified above. In this case, try to take a long rest at the camp and then return. In case of failure, we can only advise loading an earlier save (before the death of Gortash and the escape of the prisoners from the Iron Throne or their death) and try again.

If you select the answer “You killed one of Umberly's servants. Now they want you dead" , then Red Hammer will ask if we came here to fulfill their wish. If you tell me “You are a murderer. Justice must be done" , the dwarf will immediately become hostile to your group, so you will have to kill him.

If you say "I just want to know what's going on in this port" or before choosing the options for Intimidation/Deception (difficulty class 15), then you can get the inventor to talk, and then he will tell you about the underwater prison and his apparatus. You can make a deal with him for protection from the servants of Umberly or simply ask him to take you to the Iron Throne - he will fulfill your request.

If you accuse him of holding back the Gondians or killing him, he will become hostile and you will have to kill him. It should be noted that even if Red Hammer dies you can still go to the Iron Throne on a submarine - you just need to click on its top hatch.

Let us add that if you did not kill the Red Hammer and went with him to the Iron Throne, then after returning from prison you will meet Allandra Sera and other servants of Umberly. They will be unhappy that you did not kill the dwarf and will demand that you hand him over to them.

If you refuse to hand over the gnome to them, you will have to fight with the servants. After the battle, Red Hammer will reward you with 300 gold coins. From Allandra's body you can take a rare Sickle of the Wave Mother.

Note: Even if you save the inventor, later the servants of Umberly will still kill him, since the dwarf’s corpse can later be found in the cellar of the Lady of the Waters. The pictures below show the corresponding location.

If you kill the Red Hammer or give it to Allandra, you will receive as a reward the gorgeous Robe of the Wave Mother, which is great for female characters.
