The Ornate Box in Dragon's Dogma 2: where to find Sven and should you help him

    Zorthrus

In Dragon's Dogma 2 The Ornate Box is a side quest in which you have to decide whether to lie to Norman about the young man or tell the truth, and whether to give the gold to Sven or not. In this gaia we will tell you how to start the task, as well as all the consequences of your choice and possible rewards.

Walkthrough of the quest “The Ornate Box” in Dragon's Dogma 2

    How to start a task

First, you will need to get to Vernworth - just follow the story quest “The Throne of the Lord”. Captain Brant will stop you near the entrance to the city, and then chat with you in the guardhouse. After talking with him, go outside, where you will immediately encounter a young man being chased by a guard.

The boy will hide in a dark corner, and then Norman will come up to you and ask if you have seen the ragamuffin in a hat. You can tell him the truth or lie. With any option, you can then begin the specified quest, but we still We recommend that you lie to the guard, since in this case you will be able to receive an additional reward for this mission.

Note that the task will not start after this. Wait 2-3 days and then go to the market square. Approach the shop of Oriol, whom you may have met during the mission. "Medicine", and watch the cut-scene where the merchant will try to drive away the young man you know. This is where you will have the opportunity to start the quest - to do this you need to help Sven in one of two ways.

Should I give Sven gold or not?

After watching the video, enter into dialogue with Sven, who will either continue to stand near the bench or move away to the nearest stairs. He will ask you for money to buy a box. Chat with him again if you want to give him 1000 gold right away, but we advise you to hold off on this.

Instead of giving him money, chat with Oriol and buy the painted box from him for 800 coins (if you previously helped his granddaughter on the above quest). Now talk to the guy and give him the purchased item.

The second option is more preferable, since if you just give him gold, he will only reimburse you for this amount over time, and if you give the box to Sven, you will receive valuable items from him, which we talked about below.

How to get compensation for a painted box

Wait 2-3 days, minding your own business or spending the night in a hotel (your home), and then go to the statue standing in the market square. Be sure to go there during the day (to quickly move to the desired time of day, rest on a bench). Here you will see Sven sitting near the fountain.

Talk to the young man and agree to sit with him for a while. He will tell you about his life and then give you 200 gold or a gem Jasper (if you previously bought the box yourself and gave it away), which can be sold for a good price.

Wait again for 2-3 days, and then return to the statue, near which Sven will again sit. Chat with him to get 300 gold or Ring of accumulation (if you previously bought the box yourself), which slightly increases the maximum carryable weight of the owner. Note that the base price of the ring is 6,500 coins.

As usual, go to the fountain after 2-3 days and start a conversation with Sven. He will tell you that he is no longer going to follow his mother's instructions, and will give you the remaining amount of money in the amount of 500 gold coins or give you moving stone (if you previously bought the box yourself).

This will bring the task to an end. As a reward for completing it, you will receive 900 experience points and 4000 gold. Let’s add that if you didn’t hand over Sven to the guard Norman earlier, you will also receive Courtier's Pants and Tunic, which will be useful to you for the masquerade for the story mission “The Stolen Throne”.

    Sven's further fate

In the future, you will learn that Sven is the son of the regent Disa, who usurped the throne by placing her puppet on it in the person of the false Lord. If you complete this quest, then during the evacuation of the inhabitants of Vernworth you will need to persuade the young man and his mother to leave the castle.

However, Sven will refuse to leave without the painted box, which he left in his chambers, since this little thing now means a lot to him. For this reason, you will first have to return to his room and pick up the desired item - only after that the guy will agree to leave the city.
