In Atomic Heart there are several types of weapons, and to get most of them you will first have to find a weapon blueprint, and then create it in the Eleanor machine by spending a certain amount of materials. In this guide, we will tell you where you can find all the weapon recipes and how to choose the best ones from them.
Where to find weapon blueprints in Atomic Heart
You can find weapon schematics in special metal boxes that are scattered throughout Enterprise #3826. At the same time, these blueprints drop out randomly, so different players can find various items in the same container, ranging from ordinary materials to the Railgun.
However, there are a few tricks that can help you find the blueprints you need. First, players have noticed that some chests are more likely to drop weapons than others. Often we are talking about weapons of a certain type. For example, in the Vavilov complex, you can get Kalash with a huge chance.
Secondly, although the location of the recipes is randomized, the order in which they appear is not random, but scripted. For example, Kalash is always issued only after Pate, and Krepysh after Kalash. In any case, you can find the railgun only after collecting all the other weapons. The list below shows the drop sequence:
- Fox
- Electro
- PM
- Pate
- snowball
- Kalash
- Dominator
- Star
- burly
- railgun
Thus, you just need to go through the places with the chests shown by us below, and you will most likely be able to collect most of the game's arsenal. If you miss certain models, then we advise you to visit Polygons, since regular boxes located there often contain weapon recipes.
To craft weapons, just go to "Eleanor" (red machine gun), interact with her and go to the "Creation" section. Select the desired item and craft it by spending a certain amount of resources. In addition, by crafting all the weapons in Atomic Heart, you will unlock the "Lord of War" achievement.
Swede
- Type: cold weapon
A good tool for destroying robots in the initial missions, which you will get already in the prologue. However, it quickly becomes irrelevant in view of finding the Fox, so we strongly advise against spending materials on improving it - it’s better to immediately put it in the warehouse, and then get it at the end to open the achievement.
Shotgun KS-23
- Type: firearm
You can get it almost immediately after completing the prologue when entering the Vavilov Underground Science Center. The mission starts there. “Here he got in…”, within which you will need to find a valve for a hermetic seal. You will unlock a passage for a member of the complex, but the tentacles will soon kill him, causing him to drop his shotgun, which you can pick up.
If you don't take it, you can later find the weapon recipe in the nearby break room. We do not advise you to dismantle the shotgun for parts, since after that you will not be able to create it again later (this is a bug that may be fixed in the future).
As for the weapon itself, in the first half of the game there will be practically no alternatives to it, especially with its timely improvement. However, later we advise you to replace it with something more interesting. The fact is that in order to deal maximum damage with a shotgun, you will need to let enemies close to you, which is fraught with damage.
Fox
- Type: cold weapon
With a high probability, you can find this ax in Polygon 1, where you can enter almost immediately after entering the open world. It can be in a crate on the way to the bronze chest. In a separate guide, we have covered this test site in detail.
The fox will become a good noticeable Swede. You can spend some materials on it so that it does not lose its relevance, but remember that very soon you will be able to replace it with more interesting weapons.
Electro
Type: energy weapon
You can get this weapon in the first half of the game as part of the story mission "In hot pursuit". Its advantages include: no need to collect ammunition for it and a very high accuracy. However, it does not deal very much damage and requires recharging.
However, with full pumping, Electro may well become the best energy weapon in the game. We take a closer look at this point below.
PM
- Type: firearm
It can also be found during the passage of the story quest. "In hot pursuit" when you get the task of finding a passage through the door. Go to a spacious area with leaky blocks. Climb over one such block, turn left, and then turn left again. The box you need is at the top.
Crawl between the steel cubes, and then climb up the ledges and bulging beams. As you climb up, you'll almost immediately see a yellow box in front of you - open it and you'll find a blueprint.
At the beginning of the game, the PM can be used as a fallback if you run out of ammo for a more powerful weapon. Although even in this case it is often better to simply switch to cold weapons. Therefore, we do not advise you to spend materials on improving the pistol.
Pate
- Type: cold weapon
It can be obtained as part of the story mission "Into the hell". After solving the puzzle in the boiler room, go through the right passage and climb the stairs to the very top, and then turn right and go forward without turning anywhere. There will be a rest room, inside of which lies a red metal box - in it you will be able to find Pate with a high probability.
We are talking about a good melee weapon for the middle game. However, with the maximum improvement, you may well go with him to the very end. So you can not be afraid to spend resources on pumping it.
Snowball
- Type: cold weapon
It can be found near the Lesnaya station, inside a grocery store. Go to the point marked on the map below and enter the small red building by opening the lock on the door. Go around the showcase-refrigerators, and you will find a black box behind them, which may contain Snowball. Be careful, as a robot will be waiting for you behind the back door.
Note: Quite often, this ax drops from chests located on Polygon 6.
Snowball is much better than Fox, but you will find it either after Pate or almost simultaneously with it. At the same time, it is in many ways inferior to this cleaver, so we do not recommend spending resources on an ax with two blades.
Kalash
- Type: firearm
It is likely to be found in several places. The earliest moment of obtaining it can come during the passage of the story mission "March of Flowers". The Kalash recipe is sometimes hidden in the rest room chest. For more information on where you can find this machine, we told in separate guide.
An excellent weapon, which may well become your main gun for the whole game, if you improve it in a timely manner. The advantages of the machine include high range and rate of fire, as well as good damage.
Dominator
- Type: energy weapon
If you did not get the recipe for this gun from random chests, then you can find it in Baba Zina's house after the start of the quest "Cheat sheet for SDK-2 "Volan"". It will lie right on the table. Be sure to then examine the yellow box to the right of the Eleanor, as it may also contain blueprints.
Note: Quite often, the Dominator is found in Polygon 9 in one of the crates on the way to the silver chest.
At first glance, it may seem that this weapon is superior to Electro in everything. He even has a powerful alternate shot that launches an energy sphere at enemies. But it consumes the battery rather quickly, so the gun still seems to us to be a more versatile weapon.
Star
- Type: cold weapon
If you have already found Kalash, then Zvezdochka can be found near the Lesnaya station. Go to the area shown on the map below. Enter the red building with round windows and go up the spiral staircase. Turn left and exit to the balcony. There you will find a chest, which may contain the item you need.
Next time, you will be able to find the Asterisk not far from Polygon 6. Head to the indicated point and enter the water tunnel near the cistern. Swim forward on it and get out when you see a green container under you. Jump into it and open the iron box.
The asterisk is the most powerful melee weapon, so it is a must to download it, especially if you like to fight enemies at short distances.
Burly
- Type: firearm
With a high probability, you can find it in chests located in Polygon 6 or Polygon 10 (a lot depends on whether you were able to collect other types of weapons before visiting these test sites). In the open world, the recipe for this weapon is less common.
Krepysh is a rocket launcher with huge lethal force. It is recommended to use it only against bosses, without wasting rockets on a small fry. You can upgrade this grenade launcher to make it easier for you to deal with Natashas and other similar opponents.
Railgun
- Type: energy weapon
It can be found in the same location as Starlight - you will find it in this chest only if you have already collected all other weapons. There is another place in the open world where you can find this gun. Head to the point shown on the map below and go to the tower ahead. Climb it, interact with the Shuttlecock, select the indicated chamber and open the door to the Vulture.
Climb down and go right to the device you previously unlocked. Call the "balloon", climb up and zip down to the roof of the checkpoint building ahead. Go down the spiral staircase and look for a box near the beach umbrella, which may contain the recipe you need.
The Railgun is the most powerful weapon in Atomic Heart, dealing massive damage, making it ideal for taking down heavily armored enemies. However, each of his projectiles spends a lot of energy, so it will often fail to use.
How to choose the best weapon in Atomic Heart
Weapon types
First of all, let's look at the main types of weapons in the game:
- Cold - Deals quite a lot of damage and doesn't need ammo, but you will have to get close to the enemies, which will increase the chance of you taking damage. Plus, it's useless against flying drones. But some opponents, for example, Ivy, have a vulnerability to axes, cleavers, saws, and so on.
- Firearms - Deals good damage at medium and close distances, but requires ammo, which may not be enough at a high level of difficulty, especially if there are no ammunition blueprints. With the help of bullets of different elements, you can increase the damage of certain enemies.
- Energy - Does not need ammo and can deal significant damage over a long distance, however, it discharges rather quickly, which is why it needs time to recharge. This disadvantage can be partially leveled with the help of perks from the “Character Energy” category.
Given the information provided, we decided not to highlight one of the most powerful weapons, but to indicate the best options for each type.
Best melee weapon: Asterisk
- Advantages: Deals huge damage and is available for pumping.
- Disadvantages: Requires a lot of resources to craft and has a slow swing.
- First of all, you should improve Swing and Saw.
The asterisk is the most powerful melee weapon in the game, which, although it will spend a significant part of the materials you have in the manufacture, however, will then cause gigantic damage with each swing. If you make a swing in time, you will be able to demolish the robot's head with one blow. So try to pump it to the maximum.
Best Energy Weapon: Electro
- Advantages: accurate and energy efficient.
- Disadvantages: relatively low damage and not very long range.
- First of all, you should improve Damage and Energy Efficiency.
The Electro is a small electric pistol that is powered by the suit, so it doesn't need ammo, but does require reloading occasionally. It has a fairly high rate of fire and accuracy. Although it is noticeably weaker than the Dominator, however, you will be able to use it for much longer, which is why we consider it the best option for the player. The main thing is to completely pump the gun by installing all the modules in it.
Best Firearm: Kalash
- Advantages: universal machine.
- Weaknesses: Relatively low damage and not very long range.
- First of all, you should improve Accuracy and Recoil.
The Kalash is a standard assault rifle that can be used in almost any kind of combat, from gunfights in open areas to battles in tight corridors. It will be useful in battles with both regular mobs and bosses, especially when fully pumped.
However, due to its high rate of fire, you can run out of ammo pretty quickly. In addition, during prolonged shooting, the barrel will begin to twitch a little, which will negatively affect accuracy.
