In Atomic Heart, the backpack is your inventory, which holds all the picked up first aid kits, weapon, cassette and other useful items. However, in case of overload, the character's movement speed is significantly reduced, and the inscription starts flashing on the screen "Backpack full"
. In this guide, we will tell you how you can partially solve this problem.
You will also learn how to increase the size of your inventory by unlocking certain skills - this will allow you to carry much more useful items with you without having to constantly carry them to the warehouse.
Backpack full in Atomic Heart: how to fix
If you are playing on a pirated version of the game, then at the very beginning you may encounter such a misfortune as an overflowing backpack - a corresponding warning will appear on the screen, and your hero will begin to walk more slowly. The reason lies in the fact that on the Dev Build, the extra items you collect are not automatically transferred to the warehouse, which is why there is an overload.
To restore your speed and remove the warning inscription, go to any "Eleanor" (red machine gun), interact with her and go to the "Warehouse-Dismantling" tab. Now start moving all extra first aid kits, cassettes, weapons and other materials to the warehouse. As a result, the overload should disappear. Naturally, you should also consider increasing your inventory so that you can carry more items with you.
Note: Note that the vault is bottomless, so you can throw any number of things into it. For the next row with cells to appear, move the item not to an empty cell, but to a filled one.
How to expand inventory in Atomic Heart
Although in the licensed version there is no problem with an overflowing backpack, you probably still want to carry more items with you so as not to constantly run to the warehouse to replenish first-aid kits and ammo. This can be done by unlocking special skills.
First of all, deal with the first boss of WWII-A6 / H "Laborant" as part of the mission "Another Obstacle", and then unlock the skill "Eleanor's Kiss", by interacting with the red machine gun and going to the "Character" section. This will allow you to open access to the ability branch you need.

Next, study the perk "Volume Cassettes", which increase the capacity of cassettes. Now you can open two skills under the same name "Neurocompression paratrooper backpack" from the right and left sides. Each of them gives 10 additional slots in the inventory, which you can fill with additional types of weapons, first-aid kits, cassettes and cartridges.

Where to find neuropolymers
To unlock both backpack perks you will need over 150 neuropolymers, which is quite a lot, especially in the first half of the game. There are two ways to get these materials. The first is connected with the inspection of all racks, boxes and chests encountered on the way. From the latter, from one to five materials you need can fall out.

We recommend that you visit Polygons and open doors that are closed on lock, since in these locations you can find a lot of metal boxes with neuropolymers.
The second way is connected with the destruction of certain enemies. For example, 1 neuropolymer is guaranteed to drop from small flying mutant plants. These enemies spawn from sprouts attached to the walls, so it makes sense to find a room with a lot of such flowers and simply destroy all the monsters flying out of them.
One such location can be found on the 4th floor of Chelomey when completing the quest "Mustachioed Karl stole coral from Clara!". Let's add that 10 neuropolymers immediately drop out from black laboratory assistants.
