In Atomic Heart, the cassette deck is an optional upgrade for weapons, giving it elemental attacks. But the game does not immediately explain to gamers how to create fire, electric and ice cassettes, as well as use them. Therefore, in this guide, we will tell you in detail how to find cassette blueprints, craft them and install them on your weapons.
How to Install a Cassette Player in Atomic Heart
In fact, there is nothing difficult here if you know exactly what actions need to be performed. Next, we will consider in detail this process, which consists of several main stages. We add that you can use cassettes already in the first half of the game.
Place the cassette module on the weapon
First of all, find any "Eleanor" (red machine), interact with her and click on the inscription "Arsenal Modernization". Go to the "Improvement" category, select any weapon you have, click on the "Cassette" tab and install the appropriate module.
Now you can place a fire, electric or ice cassette in the selected weapon. We note right away that not all murder weapons available to you can be equipped with a cassette module.
Create or find cassettes
Next, you will need to get cassettes for your weapons. This can be done in two ways. The first involves finding a blueprint for the corresponding improvement and crafting it in Eleanor - just look for the Cassettes tab in the Crafting category and spend a certain amount of resources.
The second way is related to finding ready-made cassettes, which will allow you to save a lot of materials. To do this, try to carefully inspect all locations in search of chests, which often contain such consumables. More details about the search for these things, we told a little lower.
Install the cassette in the weapon
Pick up the weapon you plan to enhance. In the lower right corner, by the way, you can see if he has a cassette - this is indicated by a slot near the ammunition indicator (if it is empty, then there is no module). Next, press the "Tab" key to bring up the quick access menu and select an empty cell at the bottom center.
An additional section will open in which you can select the cassette you need and install it on the weapon by clicking on the left mouse button. After that, an animation will be shown with the installation of the module on your weapon.
Note: You can greatly speed up this process by picking up the desired weapon, and then holding down the middle mouse button and selecting the desired cassette (or removing the existing one).
How to install a cassette player on an Xbox or PlayStation
On consoles, many players have had problems inserting cassettes, as the game simply doesn't tell you which buttons to press. So, as usual, take the right weapon in your hands, and then open the quick access menu by holding "X" (Xbox) or "square" (PlayStation). Next, select the bottom center empty circle.
Then click on "RT" (Xbox) or "R2" (PlayStation) to expand the additional menu. Here, select the desired upgrade and install it by pressing the button shown on the screen. After this, Nechaev modernizes the weapon.
Where to find cassettes in Atomic Heart
As in the case of weapons, cassette blueprints and ready-made modules drop out of chests randomly. Therefore, if you carefully inspect all the rooms and open the boxes, sooner or later you will find the recipes for all the cassettes.
However, there are still metal containers in the game, from which these upgrades are more likely to drop. They are usually found behind closed doors, in break rooms and on the grounds. Polygons (be sure to visit at least a couple of them). Below we list a few more such places.
Fire Cassette Blueprint
With this cassette, you can set enemies on fire, which is especially useful when fighting mutant plants. Enemies set on fire will take damage over a period of time.
You can find the drawing in a closed room located in VDNKh. To get there, you will need to crack the pattern lock by choosing the right combination of light bulbs. Go inside and open the yellow chest. We talked about this in more detail in separate guide.
Electrical cassette drawing
With this cassette, you can stun enemies and deal electrical damage to them. Such projectiles are especially effective against robots.
You can find the drawing in VDNKh on the second floor of the complex. Here you will find a locked door, which requires you to find three flasks of the moon and insert them into the nearby moon castle. IN separate guide we told you where to find them. In the secret room you will find several chests, which may contain the recipe you need.
Ice cassette blueprint
With it, you can slow down and freeze enemies, which will allow you to temporarily remove them from the battle and make them vulnerable to melee attacks.
You can find the recipe behind the closed doors of the sister's room, located in the Pavlov complex. To open it, you will need to crack the graphic lock by choosing the right light bulbs. To find the code, go down to the floor below and go into the room engulfed in flames. The password is written in blood on the screen. We add that you can find a ready-made ice cassette when searching for flasks with lunar soil at VDNKh. It lies in a black chest located in a round room where flying drones attack you.
Cassette deck upgrade
Cassettes are consumables, meaning they will run out over time, so you'll have to constantly craft and replace them. If you want their volume to be enough for a longer period, then you need to expand their capacity.
To do this, interact with "Eleanor", open the menu of polymer upgrades, go to the "Character" section and learn the skill "Volumetric Cassettes" by spending 27 neuropolymers.
