Lyney in Genshin Impact: a guide to the best builds

    Zorthrus

In Genshin Impact Lyney is 5 star character, which belongs to the Pyro element and uses a Onion in battles. In a team, he can play the role of a primary or secondary damage dealer. In this guide, you will learn about his best builds, weapons and artifacts, as well as recommended units for him.

Note: The Great Magician has not yet officially released, so the data presented here is based on information received as part of the beta testing. If necessary, we will update the guide when the Achievement: Hero appears in the game.

    Lyney main features

    How to get Lyney

In the first phase of patch 4.0 (starts on August 16), this character will appear in banner, which will increase the likelihood of it falling out. Thus, it will be possible to get it only with the help of Prayers. Unfortunately, miHoYo has never hosted events where a 5-star fighter would be a reward, so getting this archer for free will definitely not work.

    Line stat progression

The table below shows how a character's base stats change as they level up.

Level Base HP Basic Attack Basic protection Crit chance bonus. hits Crit chance. hits Crete. damage
    1 858 25 42 0% 5% 50%
    20 2226 64 109 0% 5% 50%

    90 11021 318 538 19.2% 5% 50%

    Advantages and disadvantages of Line

Thanks to his abilities, he can effectively fight both strong single targets and large groups of enemies. Its main advantages include:

    • It has a relatively high base attack, which makes it easy to use as a main damage dealer.
    • Pairs well with other Pyro characters, as it gains a damage bonus when attacking enemies with Pyro status. Each fiery ally further increases this buff.
    • With a charged lvl 2 attack, summons a Laughing Cat Hat that draws the attention of enemies to itself, allowing you to keep enemies at a great distance from you.
    • Although charged shots consume the hero's HP, he can independently restore it to himself with an elemental skill. Thus, the team can do without a healer.
    • Able to restore energy to himself with charged shots, so energy recovery (EP) can be given less attention.
    • Critical Strike Chance increases With You Ascension, making it easier to build.
    • Relatively cheap ult, which makes it easier to use on KD.
    • Using a bow allows you to destroy enemies from afar and effectively deal with flying mobs.
    • Useful when researching Fontaine, as his passive reveals nearby curiosities in the Hydro region.

However, it was not without its minuses, many of which come straight from Lini's pluses:

    • The archer's damage prevents him from being used as a hypercarry. It is highly desirable to take a powerful sub-DD to the team, capable of bringing the overall DPS of the team to an acceptable level.
    • The need to create a mono Pyro pack imposes many restrictions on the selection of characters for the team. Plus, there can be great difficulty when fighting enemies that have a Pyro aura or a Noelle: Protector. There are also opponents with their own auras, on which it is impossible to hang Pyro - as a result, the second passive talent will not work.
    • To use Lin as a reactor for Steam / Melt good handheld Hydro/Cryo applicators are required to enable him to close the reactions one by one. However, there are no such sub-DDs in the game yet. Perhaps with their appearance, this character will be able to reveal himself not only in mono squads.
    • The distraction hat does not work on bosses. In addition, it will not constantly protect you from ordinary mobs, so relying on the skill alone is not recommended. If you take a shield to the squad, then this can reduce the overall damage of the squad, which may not be enough without it.
    • Playing with charged hits makes the archer extremely vulnerable to interruption, so you have to be careful not to be knocked down by enemies.

    Lini's abilities

When performing a normal attack "Changing the Power of the Cards" the character fires up to 4 bow shots, and in the event of a falling attack, he fires many arrows and lands on the ground, dealing area damage.

Separately, you should consider a charged shot, which has 2 levels of charge, dialed depending on how long the attack button is held. At level 1, the archer shoots Pyro with an arrow that deals fire damage, and at level 2, the archer shoots a prop arrow that summons Laughing Cat Hat on hit and deals damage to Pyro.

This hat can distract opponents to itself (teasing each mob once every 5 seconds). Its durability depends on the hero's maximum health. When destroyed, the hat expires (4 seconds), or a new one appears, it will fire a Pyrotechnic projectile at the nearest enemy, dealing fire damage to them. Only one hat can be present on the battlefield.

Let's add that when firing a prop arrow, he spends part of his health (if the current HP exceeds 60%), and he gets 1 stack of Excess Props, which can be stacked up to five times and disappears half a minute after Lini leaves the battlefield. In addition, if this projectile hits an enemy, it will spawn a Spirit Breath Spike that deals pneuma damage to Pyro.

Explanation: Lini, like Ganyu or Tighnari, is played through charged shots, and the main damage is not caused by the arrow itself, but by an additional attack - a pyrotechnic projectile (about 30-40% more powerful than the prop arrow). For this attack to happen as often as possible, keep firing level 2 arrows, spending approximately 1.5 seconds to charge each one.

When using an elemental skill "Stunning Light" the character spends all levels of Excess Props and inflicts area damage on enemies in front of Pyro. Lin's health regenerates based on his maximum HP. If there is a hat on the battlefield, it will immediately explode, dealing damage to enemies of the Pyro in the same amount as the Pyro Projectile.

Explanation: The damage from the skill is not very high even with stacks of excess props (demonstrated as a hat with numbers near the character's head), so charged shots and Elemental Burst are still the main sources of damage for the archer. However, this ability helps to quickly restore the health and energy of the hero. Plus, with this mechanic, you can activate the passives of some equipment and quickly remove the hat.

Elemental Burst "Great Focus: Parade of Miracles" turns Lini into a cat in a hat that can be controlled. Upon approaching enemies, flames erupt on them (each enemy takes Pyro damage only once). When the ult ends (after 3 seconds), a firework fires, dealing area damage to Pyro, and a Laughing Cat Hat spawns and 1 stack of Overkill Props is added.

Explanation: Moving near enemies for 3 seconds, the hat deals minor Pyro damage to them (not in an area), and then explodes. You can interrupt the Elemental Burst at the very beginning by clicking on the skill button (the cooldown is not updated). As a result, nearby enemies can take damage with a 900% multiplier.

It is also impossible not to mention the very useful passive talents of the great magician, namely:

    • Trivial Observations - Shows the location of Fontaine's Curiosities on the mini-map, making them much easier to find.
    • Dangerous Performance - The hat has a chance to restore 3 energy and increase damage by an additional 80% of ATK if the prop arrow consumes the character's health. The increase in damage is actually not very large (about 2 thousand units), but the energy regeneration will make it less dependent on the HP indicator.
    • Final Ovation - Grants a 60% damage bonus, and each Pyro character in the squad (except Lina) increases this effect by an additional 20% (up to a maximum of 100%). Damage is also increased when fighting opponents with Pyro status. A very useful passive that fully reveals itself in mono packs.

    constellation lini

To open them, you need the Serendipity of the character, which is issued in the event of the loss of duplicates of the hero, which, of course, is random. Given the low drop rate of 5-star characters, it will take you a lot of money and time to unlock all the constellations.

We highly recommend unlocking at least the first constellation, with which you can increase your character's overall damage by almost 15% per rotation. If you can get to C6, then his damage will increase by an impressive 50-60%. With such additions, it is quite possible to turn him into a hypercarry.

    1. Wacky Miracles - The Requisition Arrow creates two hats at once and grants 1 additional stack of Surplus Props. The bonus appears every 15 seconds.
    2. Engaging Phrasing - Every two seconds, Lin's critical damage will increase by 20%. The bonus stacks up to three times and will disappear if the character leaves the battlefield. With this constellation, you can pay less attention to Lini's crits.
    3. Sleight of Hand - Increases the level of normal attacks by three. Maximum level: 15th.
    4. A Plan Learned and Rehearsed - Reduces enemies' resistance to Pyro by 20% for 6 seconds after being hit by a charged shot. Useful if you have other Pyro damage dealers in the pack.
    5. Insight into Mysteries - Elemental explosion level increases by 3. Maximum level: 15th.
    6. Insincere Smile - After firing a Prop Arrow, Lini fires a Reprise that deals 80% of Pyro Projectile damage. In short, the character begins to fire two projectiles at once, which significantly increases his damage per rotation.

    How to play as Lini

As we noted above, the gameplay for Lini is based on the use of charged shots, and you should shoot level 2 arrows, which charge a little longer, so you need to take a shield to the squad, which will not allow you to shoot down the archer. We add that the radius of destruction of the Pyrotechnic projectile is not very high, so you need to shoot at the places where the enemies accumulate, not allowing them to scatter far.

Charged attacks and ults will also allow you to accumulate stacks of Overkill Props, which increase damage and health regeneration when using an elemental skill. Thus, you need to apply the Elemental Burst BEFORE activating the skill, otherwise you will not be able to deal maximum damage to opponents.

The rotation itself will look like this:

    1. While at a safe distance from your opponents, fire a prop arrow at them to distract them with your hat. Then perform a couple more of these charged shots.
    2. If you are ready, use an Elemental Burst of Lin, and you need to interrupt it with an elemental skill, being close to opponents, in order to deal huge damage, summon a hat, restore health and get a new stack of Surplus Props.
    3. Use charged attacks again. Between these steps, you can use the skills of other members of the squad (you will have about 5 seconds for this).

    Best builds for Lini

    The best weapon

When selecting bows, you should pay attention to those that increase the damage from charged shots, attack power, critical strike chance and / or critical damage (in the absence of C2). The table below shows some of the most interesting examples.

Name and rarity Characteristics (level 1-90) Passive ability

    First Great Focus (5 stars)

    Critical Damage: 14.4~66.1%

    Basic Attack: 46~608

Increases attack power by 12~24%. For each hero of the same element as the owner of the weapon, increases ATK by 8~16%/16~32%/40~80%, and for each hero of a different element, increases movement speed by 4~12%/7~15%/10~18 %. Signature for Linya, which increases all the characteristics necessary for this character. However, it is imprisoned for Pyro mono packs. Exceeds Aqua Simulacra in damage with three Pyro heroes in the squad.

    Aqua Simulacra (5-star)

    Critical Damage: 19.2%~88.2%

    Basic Attack: 44~542

Increases HP by 16%. If there are opponents nearby, it increases the damage inflicted by the hero by 20%. The bonus is given even if the character is not on the battlefield. Health for Lini is very important, as he spends it on the use of the skill. The increase in damage also works if the enemies are no further than eight meters from the character. A great option if you still plan to play from reactions, and not in Pyro packs.

    Thundering Pulse (5-star)

    Critical Damage: 14.4%~66.2%

    Basic Attack: 46~608

Increases attack power by 20%~40% and creates the effect of Thunder Emblem. At level 1, 2, or 3, the damage of a normal shot is increased by 12%~24%, 24%~48%, or 40%~80%, respectively. Levels are given in the following cases: when dealing damage with a simple shot (the emblem lasts 5 seconds), using an elemental skill (the emblem lasts 10 seconds), when the character's elemental energy is below 100% (the emblem will disappear when the energy is fully restored). The duration of each level of the emblem is calculated individually. Similar to First Great Focus, but gives less ATK from the passive talent. Plus, his Thunder Emblems are mostly only drawn from normal shots, which Lini usually doesn't use.

    Skyward Harp (5-star)

    Critical Hit Chance: 4.8%~22.1%

    Basic Attack: 48~674

Increases critical damage by 20%~40%. On a successful hit, there is a 60%~100% chance to deal 125% physical damage in a small radius. The effect occurs every 4~2 seconds. Another good option for Lini, which is a little behind the previous bow, since this character initially has a high critical chance to hit. If you use it With You with the Shadowhunting artifact set, then the hat should be taken for critical damage.

    Amos’ Bow (5 stars)

    Attack Power: 10.8%~49.6%

    Base Damage: 46~608

Increases normal and charged shot damage by 12%~24%. For every 0.1 seconds an arrow fired with a single shot or an aimed shot is flying, its damage is increased by 8%~16%. The effect stacks up to five times. Slightly behind the previous bow in terms of overall damage, however, if the buff from the passive also applies to the Pyrotechnic projectile, then it can significantly increase the damage dealt by the hero.

    Polar Star (5 star)

    Critical Hit Chance: 7.2%~33.1%

    Basic Attack: 46~608

Increases elemental skill and elemental explosion damage by 12%. When any attacks (except falling strike) hit an enemy, a level 1 Star of the Arctic Night effect appears, lasting 12 seconds. At 1-4 levels. effect, attack power is increased by 10-48 percent. Levels created by different attacks exist independently of each other. As with Thunder Pulse, you'll need to build up stacks quickly to maximize the weapon's potential. So we advise you to use a regular shot at the beginning of the rotation, and an Elemental Burst in the middle. If you use it With You with Shadowhunt, then take the cap for critical damage.

Heir of the Blinding Sun (4 stars)

    Crit chance. impact: 4~18.4%

    Basic Attack: 44~565

When hit with a charged shot, attacks with a special arrow that deals an additional 60~120% damage from the wearer's ATK. The enemy gains the Burning Heart status, increasing their damage from charged attacks against them by 28~56% for 10 seconds. The effect occurs every 10 seconds. On the 5th Awakening, it can be called the best 4-star bow, but you will have to spend a lot of money to get it. It is better to use these funds to obtain legendary weapons. Slightly stronger than Melody of Calm when fighting single targets without awakening.

    Prototype Crescent (4 stars)

    Attack Power: 9%~41.3%

    Base Damage: 42~510

When a charged shot hits an enemy's weak spots, the hero's movement speed is increased by 10% and attack power by 36% ~ 72% for 10 seconds. An extremely powerful weapon for Lini, which can be called the most optimal among 4-stars. However, you will have to try to hit enemies in weak spots (not all opponents have).

Barbara: Flow of Peace (4 stars)

    Attack Power: 9~41.3%

    Basic Attack: 42~510

After healing, damage is increased by 16~32% for 8 seconds. The bonus is activated even if the owner is not on the battlefield. This Onion can be obtained for free through crafting. Since Lini is able to heal himself, the passive will work regularly (you can also take a healer to the team). On the 5th awakening, it loses a little to the pumped Crescent.

    Blackcliff Warbow (4 stars)

    Critical Damage: 8~36.8%

    Basic Attack: 44~565

When defeating enemies, attack power increases by 12~24% for half a minute. The bonus stacks up to three times. Increases the required stats for Lane, but stacking the passive will not be easy. When fighting against strong single targets, it will be practically useless.

    Slingshot (3-star)

    Critical Hit Chance: 6.8%~31.2%

    Basic Attack: 38~354

Hitting an enemy with a normal or aimed shot within 0.3 seconds of hitting or shooting increases the damage of those attacks by 36%. Otherwise, damage is reduced by 10%. Can be used early as it increases crits and damage from charged shots. At the same time, it is recommended to take a hat in artifacts for critical damage.

Note: If you are planning to use Lini as a sub-DD to close Vapor, Melt, and so on, then in addition to the above bows, you can also give him a Hunting Trail, Elegy of doom, The Stringless or Sacrificial Bow.

    Best Artifacts

When using Lini as a main-destroyer, we advise you to take a full set "Shadow Hunt", 2 parts of which increase the damage of regular and charged hits by 15%, and 4 parts increase the chance of critical hits by 11% for 5 seconds, if the hero's health decreases or increases. The bonus can stack up to three times. Can be obtained from Fontaine's new dungeon.

An alternative to it can be a full set "Lavawalker", 2 parts of which increase Pyro resistance by 40%, and 4 parts increase damage dealt to enemies with Pyro status by 35%. Combines with Lini's second passive talent. You can get it in the dungeon "Hidden Palace of Zhou Formula".

Another alternative is "Vermillion Hereafter", 2 parts of which increase attack power by 18%, and 4 parts increase ATK by an additional 8% after using the ult for 16 seconds. Attack power can increase by an additional 10% when health is lost. The bonus stacks up to four times and occurs no more than once every 0.8 seconds. It disappears when the Achievement: Hero leaves the battlefield. With this set, the rotation should start with an elemental explosion and apply it every cycle. You can get it in the dungeon "The Lost Valley".

You can also try to build sets consisting of two sets if you are missing one or another artifact:

    • Gladiator’s Finale/ Shimenawa’s Reminiscence - 2 pieces increase attack power by 18%. The first is obtained from elite bosses and the second from the dungeon "Momiji-Dyed Court".
    • Crimson Witch of Flames - 2 pieces increase Pyro damage by 15%. Can be obtained in the Hidden Palace of Zhou Formula.
    • Martial Artist – 2 pieces increase damage from normal and charged attacks by 15%.

If you plan to use Lini as a reactor, then we advise you to collect a complete set "The Wandering Ensemble" (Increases Elemental Mastery and Charged Shot Damage) or "Burning Scarlet Witch" (increases Pyro reactions).

As for choosing the main characteristics for artifacts, then take the hourglass for ATK (or elemental mastery, if Lini is a reactor), the bowl - for the Pyro damage bonus (or elemental mastery), the crown - for crit chance. hit/crit. damage in a ratio of 1 to 2. The priority of choosing additional parameters is as follows: crits -> attack -> Obtaining Energy -> elemental mastery.

    The best commands for Lini

We have already noted above that at this point in time it is best for this magician to collect Pyro mono packs, which will contain the maximum number of fiery characters. However, even now you can use commands where Lini plays the role of a reactor. True, it often takes the place of a sub-DD, and not the main damage dealer. The table below shows all optimal units with him.

    How to improve skills

You have to search and collect many different materials, namely:

    • Teachings, Directions, and Philosophies of Impartiality - Dropped Mondays, Tuesdays, and Sundays from the Pale Legacy Dungeon.
    • Recruit’s Insignia, sergeant and officer - drop out from skirmishers, purchasable with Starglitter or crafted with Alchemy.
    • Primordial Greenbloom - Dropped by a weekly boss Apep Oasis Guardian.
    • Crown of Insight - can be obtained during events, as well as by leveling the Sacred Sakura, the Permafrost Tree, the Dream Tree and the Lucine Fountain.

When it comes to leveling talents, we advise you to level up normal attacks first to increase the power of charged shots. Then go for Elemental Burst or Elemental Skill - it all depends on whether you plan on using your ult in every rotation or not.

How to level up a character

Get ready to search and collect a large number of different materials. Their list and extraction methods are listed below.

    • First Ascension (Level 20; 20,000 mora) - 1 Agnidus Agate Sliver, 3 Rainbow Roses, 3 Private's Chevrons
    • Second Ascension (Level 40; 40,000 mora) - 3 Agnidus Agate Fragments, 2 Emperor's Judgments, 10 Rainbow Roses, 15 Private's Chevrons
    • Third Ascension (Level 50; 60,000 mora) - 6 Agnidus Agate Fragments, 4 Emperor's Judgments, 20 Prismatic Roses, 12 Sergeant's Chevrons
    • Fourth Ascension (Level 60; 80,000 mora) - 3 pieces of Agnidus Agate, 8 Emperor's Judgment, 30 Rainbow Roses, 18 Sergeant's Chevrons
    • Fifth Ascension (level 70; 100,000 mora) - 6 pieces of Agnidus Agate, 12 Emperor's Judgment, 45 Rainbow Roses, 12 Officer's Chevrons
    • Sixth Ascension (Level 80; 120,000 mora) - 6 precious Agnidus Agates, 20 Emperor's Judgment, 60 Rainbow Roses, 24 Officer's Chevrons

You can get Agnidus Agate with Pyro Orchids, Lupus Borealis, Ancient Geovishap, Pyro Hypostasis, Azhdahi, Seniors And APMON. It can also be purchased at souvenir shop. The Emperor's Judgment drops from the boss The Emperor of Fire and Iron. Rainbow roses are a local curiosity of Fontaine - in separate guide we have indicated their location.
