In Genshin Impact The Key to Some Place in the Institute is a special item that can be used to open the locked door in the Institute of Natural Philosophy and unlock the secret achievement "Study in Black". Where to get the Key to Some Place in the Institute

You can get it from a rich chest located in the Ordo Narcissenkreutz. You can get to this hidden location only after completing the world quest "Aqueous Tidemarks". You will be able to get into it as part of the quest "Unfinished Story" or "The Final Question". The screenshots below show the exact location of the chest.

What opens the Key to Some Place in the Institute

After obtaining the above item, move to the northern teleport at the Institute of Natural Philosophy. Then turn around and start running back along the only path, avoiding corridors and water areas. Next, go up the ladder to the top. The road is straight, so you won't get lost. If so, we have shown the entire route on the map below.

Climbing up, you will see a closed door ahead and a console on the right - go to it and insert the key to unlock a new passage.

How to unlock the Achievement "Study in Black"

Go into the opened corridor and run along it forward until you reach the next door. Click on the device again to unlock the secret trophy. You can also enter a secret room with a purple mud hole.

Inside you can find a precious chest. On the left side of it on the table you can find the Mysterious Page V. Go to the next room to take the Mysterious Page VIII from the bookshelf. You will also open a short route to the main hall by clicking on the next mechanism near the door.

As for the mud well, it stands right on Beast Gap, however, there is no way to remove it at the moment. Unfortunately, Lumenstone Adjuvant doesn't work here. Perhaps the continuation of this puzzle will appear in the next patches.
