In Genshin Impact Theater Imaginarium is an updated game mode added With You the release of patch 4.7. As part of it, you need to fight with various opponents, using certain power-ups and characters. In this guide you will learn how to open this activity and complete all its levels, as well as what rewards you can get in it.
How to open the Imaginarium Theater in Genshin Impact
This mode is divided into seasons and has its own schedule. The first stage will have to start July 1, 2024 and like Spiral Abyss (updated June 16), will last exactly 1 month. The picture below shows the corresponding timings.
To take part in these tests there is only one condition - to have at least 35 adventure rank. If you have met this requirement, then go to the events menu, find the “Imaginarium Theatre” there, and then click on the “Go to task” button to begin the introductory quest “The Neverending Story”.
Walkthrough of the mission “The Neverending Story”
You will need to go to the Knights of Favonius headquarters, located in the city of Mondstadt, and go to Lisa's library, taking the first door on the right. Then go down to the bottom floor, go to the quest marker and open the door.
You will find yourself in the forbidden section of the library. Watch a short video, after which you will unlock a new mode. To start the first Achievement: Challenger, you need to go to the book on the table and interact with it. The task will come to an end.
Basic Contest Rules of the Imaginarium Theater
In this game activity you will need to assemble teams of several heroes and successively complete combat Achievement: Challenger. There are three marked items that can be used within each season. For example, in the first they are: Pyro, Electro and Anemo.
Heroes that meet the requirements of the elements and levels can be used as reserves. The process itself consists of three main stages: preparation (selecting fighters), Achievement: Challenger (selecting special events and participation in combat performances) and counting (receiving awards). Next, we will consider each phase separately.
Preparatory stage
Before the start of the Achievement: Challenger, you need to select characters who will participate in the tests. Each season you will have access to 6 specific active heroes. Test versions of them will be available to you if necessary.
You will also be able to select multiple characters in idle mode. To turn them into active fighters and replenish your team to participate in battles, you will need to complete combat events and select a companion event.
Characters in standby mode can be taken from three categories:
- Characters that meet the conditions of the elements and level.
- Support characters, which can be provided by friends.
- Specially invited characters who are not subject to the Contest Rules of the current season.
Note: At different difficulty levels, teams may need different numbers of characters.
All heroes start with 2 units of Zeal. To complete one combat event, 1 unit of Zeal is spent. When the entire supply of this type of energy runs out, the character will no longer be able to take part in battles. For this reason, you need to wisely compose your squads and develop a strategy in advance to complete all floors.
Let’s add that each new season of the Imaginarium Theatre, the opening heroes of the show are endowed with Fantastic Blessings, giving them enhancements. These buffs apply not only to this mode, but also to the Twisted Abyss and the open world.
Note: For example, in the first season, after the specified fighters are included in the team, their maximum health, attack power and defense increase by 20%.
Achievement: Challenger phase
As you progress gradually through the challenge, you can activate various events that allow you to invite other heroes or receive bonuses. However, some may have negative effects, so choose carefully.
Select the right fighters for the upcoming battle based on the enemies you have to fight, and complete several rounds to receive your well-deserved reward.
Season 1
Best characters
In addition to the opening characters, there are also 4 special guest heroes: Wriothesley, Alhaitham, Baizhu and Sijwin, but the latter are only available if you have them in your own collection.
If they aren't, don't worry too much about it, as they can still appear in your Support Roster if other players place them in the appropriate roster.
Recommended Alternative Heroes
If you do not take into account specially invited characters, then in this season you will only be able to use Pyro, Electro and Anemo heroes. For this reason, be sure to add them to your Support Roster so that other players in your friends group can use them.
Optimal commands

Electro |
Any | Any |
Aggravation/ Elemental Reaction: Overloaded (boss) |
Clorinda |
Sub-DD | Buffer | Support |
Most of your teams in the first three acts will be made up of opening heroes. We are talking about an Anemo pack, consisting, for example, of the Wanderer and Faruzan, or an Overload squad created on the basis of Clorinda or Arlecchino.
Act 4-6
Team | Character 1 | Character 2 | Character 3 | Character 4 |
---|---|---|---|---|

Sprawl/Vegetation |
Alhaitham |

Sub-DD | Support |
At this stage, you will have to prepare more diverse characters to form more flexible teams. The above are just a few general examples, but in general you can use any composition as long as it allows you to save your best heroes for the Act 6 and 8 bosses.
Let us add that for Act 6 we recommend assembling a squad associated with Dendro reactions, since in it you will have to fight a boss against whom characters of almost any element will be suitable.
Act 7-8
Team | Character 1 | Character 2 | Character 3 | Character 4 |
---|---|---|---|---|
Elemental Reaction: Overloaded |
Pyro |
Electro |
Any | Any |
Pyro-pack |

Pyro characters should be saved for the last two Acts as they will be the most useful in them, especially during the stage 8 boss fight.
How to complete Acts 1-3 (Easy)
Key priorities in Acts 1-2
- Spend most of your fantasy flowers on Companion events, inviting as many characters as possible to join you. We advise you to focus on Anemo and Electro fighters, as well as any available special guest (priority should be given to Baizhu and Sijwin).
- Spend the remaining fantasy flowers on “Amazing Strengthening” or “Mysterious Acquisitions” buffs.
- Save at least 1 Zeal for your best characters (preferably Electro) for Act 3.
Save your Electro characters
Try not to use all your Electro characters in the first two Acts, or leave them with 1 diligence each so that you can take them into the third Act, where they will help you achieve all your goals.
Use two damage dealers or more
Since you won't have access to versatile supports like Furina and Nahida, you can easily use two or even three main damage dealers if they allow you to complete the main and secondary objectives of the dungeon.
For example, a duo of Wanderer and Faruzan can be combined with another duo of one main damage dealer and one support to form a very viable squad.
Feed unnecessary characters to enemies
An effective team can even consist of three or two well-leveled characters. The third and/or fourth slot can be filled with relatively useless heroes who do not make a significant contribution to the overall DPS of the squad. You can also deliberately expose them to attacks from enemies, thereby preserving the health of more useful heroes.
Boss fight
In the third act you will have to fight the Feathered Mold, about whom we have separate guide, so here we will give only a few useful tips on achieving the goals of the Achievement: Challenger. First of all, we recommend that you assemble a squad of Electro and Pyro heroes.
To complete the side objective, you need to cast Electro on the boss to put him in a drained state. This is why we recommended that you save Electro characters (for example, Clorinda).
When the Jadeplume Terrorshroom goes down, use your most powerful attacks to take down its health as quickly as possible. Try to finish him off in one stun, otherwise he will get back to his feet and you will have to refill the Activation gauge.
If you have taken Pyro characters into your squad, do not use their fire attacks until you completely fill the Activation gauge. Otherwise, they will, on the contrary, reduce its filling, which is why you will not be able to quickly stun the enemy.
In the absence of Electro heroes, you can take a squad of well-pumped Anemo and/or Pyro characters. This pack will also allow you to deal with the boss relatively quickly, but you will not be able to complete the bonus goal.
How to complete Acts 4-6 (Normal)
Key priorities in Acts 4-5
- Spend most of your fantasy flowers on Companion events, inviting as many Pyro characters as possible. The fact is that by this moment your Electro and Anemo heroes will most likely either have 1 zeal each, or will be completely unavailable. If there are any free slots left, then give them to the special guests you have (Wriothesley and Alhaitham).
- Spend the remaining fantasy flowers on the “Amazing Strength” and “Mysterious Acquisitions” buffs.
- Save at least 1 Zeal from your best damage dealers for Act 6.
In defense scenes, use Anemo characters with a screed
In this mode, opponents will appear in different parts of the arena, trying to destroy the monolith. To complete all additional goals, you need to prevent them from reducing the strength of the device to a certain value and destroy a specific number of enemies.
The easiest way to do this will be if there is a character in the Anemo squad who can pull enemies to one point. We are talking about Venti, Sucrose and Lynette (C1). The fact is that this way you can collect all the small mobs in one place and instantly destroy them with powerful explosions of the elements.
Boss fight
In the sixth act you will have to fight the Vishap Flock of the Deep, about which we have separate guide, so here we will give just a few useful tips to achieve the goals of the Achievement: Challenger. First of all, let us remind you that they deal Electro and Cryo damage, and are also capable of sucking energy from characters.
Try to avoid the elemental balls released by vishaps at all costs, as they not only prevent you from achieving the bonus goal, but also reduce the energy reserves of your heroes, preventing them from using their elemental bursts.
Do not forget also that you should kill the vishaps at the same time or with a difference of 5-8 seconds, since if you stun one of them and the second remains alive, then soon the stunned enemy will get up again, replenishing almost 50% of his health. So you shouldn't concentrate all your attacks on just one enemy.
How to complete Acts 7-8 (Hard)
Key priorities in Act 7
- Spend most of your fantasy flowers on Companion events, inviting the last remaining heroes from the Support Roster to join you.
- Spend the remaining fantasy flowers on the “Amazing Strengthening” and “Mysterious Acquisitions” buffs, and if you plan to use Arlecchino, Clorinda or Pyro damage dealers, then be sure to choose bonuses that enhance fire attacks or reactions.
- Save at least 1 zeal from your best damage dealers (preferably Pyro) for Act 8.
Act 7 Combat Strategy
In this challenge you just need to deal with several mobs, including elite opponents with a significant amount of health. If you fail to defeat them in time, then try to first group them at one point, and then deal huge damage to them with elemental explosions.
One of the secondary goals may be to defeat enemies by using a certain type of attack. This usually only needs to be done once, so we advise you to reduce the health of some elite enemy to 1-4%, and then use the desired attack to complete the task.
Boss fight
In the eighth act you have to fight with Ice Wind Suite, about which we have a separate guide, so here we will give only a few useful tips on achieving the goals of the Achievement: Challenger. First of all, we note that the game automatically selects the Coppelius's Retribution repertoire, where the boss creates a Cryo Noelle: Protector.
Let us remind you that this Cryo Hurdle is quickly removed with the help of Pyro attacks or blows that cause damage to Usia. Only after removing this shield use your ultimates, otherwise all the damage will go to virtually nothing.
Let's add that the boss will perform the sequence of attacks from the climax three times, after which he will again enter the stationary battle phase, having lost his shield. If you were unable to remove the Hurdle yourself, then this is the second best time to use your most powerful attacks and inflict maximum damage on the enemy.
Support Character Request Board
If you don't have a lot of friends with suitable characters, you can use our request board, where you can find people you know with the characters you need to complete the acts of the Imaginarium Theater.
