In Zenless Zone Zero Bangboos are special companions and assistant proxies that assist agents in caverns. These partners differ from each other not only in appearance, but also in characteristics and skills, so among them we can distinguish the best options for certain units.
In this guide, we will tell you what exactly Banboos are, how you can get them and upgrade them, and what abilities they have. Here a tier list of assistants will be presented and the teams in which they will be able to reveal themselves to the maximum will be indicated.
What are Bangboos in ZZZ
From a lore perspective, banboos are special robotic companions or assistants that help people explore caverns. There are several varieties of these creatures in the game.
First Mate Eos
We are talking about the main assistant of the Phaetons, which they use when working with the HDD system. This is what players control while on the playing field in story quests and exploration missions. You cannot add him to the squad. As part of the CBT, it was possible to modify it in the workshop, but in the release version there is no such option.
Battle Banbu
This article is mainly about them. The combat banboo can be considered a kind of fourth member of the squad, who follows the active character everywhere and provides him with comprehensive support with the help of three abilities:
- A (active skill) - banbu is performed with a certain frequency and, as a rule, inflicts damage on enemies, but in some cases provides buffs to agents.
- B (additional ability) – a passive that buffs the banba if certain requirements are met.
- C (chain of attacks) - allows the banbu to infiltrate the chain of attacks of characters and inflict great damage of one type or another on opponents. Not all companions may have this skill.
Let us add that combat banboos have their own characteristics, which determine the effectiveness of their abilities, so do not forget to upgrade them. Access to these robot rabbits will open after reaching Level 16 Internot during the passage "Chapters 1: Interlude".
Banbu helpers
They are found only in the Null Cavern and are in many ways similar to regular fighting banboos, except that they are unable to use chain attacks. You can keep no more than two Banbu assistants with you at the same time. If you decide to take another one, you will have to replace your old companion.
How to get Banbu in Zenless Zone Zero
Banbu Banner
At this point in time, this is the main and only way to get new banboos in the game. Access to "Kanalu Banbu: An Excellent Partner" opens on the 16th Internet level during "Chapter 1: Interlude". To perform spins, it uses banbulets - a special currency issued for completing the Zero Cavern, as a reward for events, when exchanged in the “Register of Signals” store, and so on. You can read more about all the methods in our separate article.
Note that this banner has a number of differences from other signal searches. Firstly, you can independently choose the S-rank banboo you need, and with a 100% probability it will appear to you on the 80th attempt or earlier. Secondly, it only drops banboos with a rarity of 4 or 5 stars and B-rank amplifiers, which means you won’t be able to get other weapons or characters in this banner.
How to upgrade Banbu in ZZZ
Banbu improvement
Banbu, like characters and amplifiers, can be leveled up, which will increase their characteristics. To do this, you need to visit the Turbo tuning workshop, located on Sixth Street, to the left of the video rental store. To upgrade your companions, you will need special materials: patches, algorithmic modules and banbu system widgets, which can be obtained by completing the Zero Cavern, completing story orders or participating in events.
System optimization
Maximum you can pump Banbu up to level 60. However, when you reach levels 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50, you will need to undergo optimization before you can continue to increase the level of the robot rabbit. This can be done by using different types of electrolytes.
You can obtain these materials by clearing the Zero Cavern, purchasing them at the “141” minimarket, or disassembling the liquid conductor.
Logical core update
Note that when performing spins, you will often receive copies of banbu you already have. In this case, instead of the companion itself, you will be given its core. You will need this item to increase the rank of Banbu by upgrading it in the Turbo workshop. This way you can increase the effectiveness of his skills.
The creature's rank is shown in the form of stars. The maximum you can get is 5 stars, that is, you need to get 4 duplicate Banbu. This is quite possible to achieve with A-rank robot rabbits.
Best Banboos in ZZZ: Tier List
Below is a ranking of all Banboos present in the game. At the top are companions that can inflict significant damage and effectively support the squad, for example, constantly supplying it with energy. Below are assistants with mediocre characteristics or that can only enhance the accumulation of anomalies, since this parameter is hardly noticeable during a real battle. The distribution was carried out according to the following principle:
- Tier I: The best banboos, capable of making battles with most monsters easier by dealing significant damage or effectively supporting allies. They will definitely come in handy in the endgame.
- Tier II: reliable partners who have a minimum of disadvantages, so they will be useful during any battles.
- Tier III: good banbu, which, however, can provide decent support only when combined with certain agents.
- Tier IV: highly specialized banbu that will only be viable if a number of conditions are met. In other cases, it is better to avoid them.
Let us add that when compiling this tier list, the usefulness of banbu in the Zero Cavern, Shiyu Defense and Rally missions was taken into account. Thus, the top rows contain companions that will definitely not let you down in these modes.
Shooting gallery | Banbu | Peculiarities | Units |
---|---|---|---|
I |

A useful assistant both at the beginning and at the end of the game. | Suitable for a team from the “Cunning Hares” (Billy, Enby and Nicole) or for physical training. damage (Nekomata, Enby and Piper). |
I |
Majordomo (Phys.) |
Energy restoration is useful for any team in battle. The presence of at least two agents from Victoria further accelerates energy regeneration. The skill sometimes misfires, causing petals to fly out of the barrel. | Suitable for Mono-Physical pack (Nekomata, Billy and Piper). |
III |
Barobu |
Specializes in energy restoration. Accelerates energy regeneration if the team has at least one “Support” agent. | He performs best in mono-Ice (Ellen, Lycaon and Sokaku), mono-Electric (Grace, Enbi and Rina) and mono-Fire (Soldier 11, Kolyada and Lucy) packs. |
III |
