In a team, she is able to play the role of a secondary damage dealer, dealing damage from the pocket by accumulating anomaly on enemies. In this guide, you will learn about her best build, amplifiers And drive discs, as well as recommended units with it
Burnice's Key Features
How to get Bernice
In the second phase of version 1.2 (October 16th), this hot lady from the "Sons of Calydon" appeared in banner, which increased the probability of her dropping. In the future, this character can only be obtained through Signal Search. Unfortunately, HoYoverse has never held an event in which the reward would be a 5-star fighter, so you definitely won’t be able to get the burning blonde for free.

Bernice's abilities and their development priority
You can read about the heroine's abilities in the game itself, so we decided to add it under the spoiler so as not to increase the size of the article. We also recommend that you study our combat system guide, to better understand it.
Basic attacks
Fiery blend
Press the Basic Attack button (LMB) to launch. Bernice performs up to 5 strikes in front of her, dealing physical and fire damage.
Fire blend (mix)
When Bernice enters the Nitro-Fuel Cocktail state, hold down the Basic Attack (LMB) button to perform this attack. Bernice spins around, spraying flames, and then performs a finishing move that deals Fire damage. Continue holding the button to extend the spray phase. When activated, this attack consumes 20 Heat. Interrupt Defense is increased while using this skill. After performing this move, press the Special Attack (E) button to immediately transition to the enhanced Special Attack, High-Temperature Mixing - Double Shot.
Evasion
Evasion: Flame Phantom
Press the dodge button (RMB or L Shift) to quickly dodge while dashing. The agent is invulnerable while using this skill.

Additional Attack Assist: Burning Dew
To activate, press the Basic Attack button (LMB) after performing a Defense Assist. Bernice jumps and spins quickly, spraying flames and dealing Fire damage. After using this skill, press the Special Attack button (E) to immediately perform the enhanced Special Attack "High-Temperature Mixing - Double Shot". The agent is invulnerable while using this skill.
Special attacks
Special Attack: High Temperature Soak
Press the Special Attack button (E) to activate. Fires a bolt in front of you that deals fire damage. Hold the Special Attack button to charge the attack and increase its power. While using this skill, your Interrupt Defense is increased.
Enhanced Special Attack: High Temperature Mixing
To activate, press the Special Attack button (E) when Bernice has enough energy. The agent fires a stream of flame from her one-handed flamethrower, then fires a fire bolt in a line in front of her, dealing massive fire damage. Continue holding the button to further expend energy and extend the duration of the blast.
While the Flame Jet is active, pull the joystick (or use AD keys) to dodge to the side and move in the corresponding direction. While the Flame Jet is active, the agent's interrupt protection is increased and the agent takes 40% less damage. The agent is invulnerable while the Flame Jet is active.
Enhanced Special Attack: High Temperature Mixing - Double Shot
To activate, press the Special Attack button (E) when Bernice has enough energy and she will cast High Temperature Mixture. The agent fires a stream of flame from her dual-wielded flamethrower, then fires a blast of fire in a line in front of her, dealing massive Fire damage. Continue holding the button to further expend energy and extend the duration of the blast.
While the Flame Jet is active, the agent's interrupt protection is increased and the agent takes 40% less damage. The agent is invulnerable while the Flame Jet is active.
Attack chains
Attack Chain: Fuel Burnout
To activate, select an agent when the attack chain is triggered. The agent dashes forward, spraying flames, and then releases a fire blast in a cone in front of him, dealing massive fire damage. After using this skill, press the special attack button (E) to immediately perform the enhanced special attack "High-Temperature Mixing - Double Portion". The character is invulnerable while using this skill.
Superpower: Fire Rampage
To activate, press the Ultimate (Q) button at max decibel level. The agent dashes forward, then jumps up and sprays flames in a wide area in front of him, dealing massive Fire damage.
Quick Aid can be used during the jump. If Quick Aid is used, Bernice will spray flames longer. The character is invulnerable while using this skill.
Makings
Main Passive Skill: Nitro-Fuel Cocktail
When Bernice spends energy, she accumulates Heat (maximum 100 units), gaining 1.4 units of Heat for each unit of energy spent. After accumulating 50 units of Heat, she enters the Nitro-Fuel Cocktail state and remains in it until all Heat is spent. Bernice starts the battle with 100 units of Heat at once.
When Bernice in Nitro Cocktail hits an enemy with a basic attack, Fire Blend (Mixture), or a special attack, chain attack, or super ability, she applies the Scorch debuff to them until Bernice exits Nitro Cocktail. When other party members hit enemies with Scorch, they activate the Charred debuff, consuming 8 Heat and dealing Fire damage equal to 175-350% of Bernice's AD, as well as causing a stack of Fire Anomaly. This effect cannot occur more than once every 1.5 seconds.
Every 10 units of Anomaly Knowledge increases Charring damage by 1% (maximum bonus is 30%). Charring damage is considered as attack assist damage.
Additional ability: Dangerous Spark
Activates if there are other Anomaly agents in the party or from the same faction. When Bernice hits an enemy with the basic attack "Fire Blend (Mixture)", the enhanced special attack "High-Temperature Blend" or the enhanced special attack "High-Temperature Blend - Double Shot", or when the effect of "Charred" is triggered, the cumulative Fire Anomaly accumulation rate of this attack is increased by 65%. When any party member inflicts Burn on an enemy, the duration of Burn is extended by 3 seconds.
As for pumping up the heroine's talents, the priority is there must be some potential , as they are the main source of her damage. Next in importance are the special attacks, as you will use them most often to activate the special mode and deal significant damage to enemies.
Once you've maxed out these abilities, you can move on to upgrading your chain attacks (ultimate), increasing Bernice's overall damage output. Upgrade Assists, Basic Attacks, and Dodges last, as they don't provide much benefit compared to other abilities.
Bernice's Mental Picture
To open it, you need to accumulate Agent Profiles, which are given out when duplicates of the heroine fall out, which, of course, is random. Considering the small chance of getting 5-star characters, you will need to spend a lot of time and money to unlock all the mental girls. However, even without them, Bernice can easily play the role of a sub-DD.
The table below lists all the mental abilities, their descriptions and benefits for the heroine.
Name | Bonus | Utility |
---|---|---|
Hot unanimity | Increases maximum Heat from 100 to 140. When Bernice enters combat, she gains an additional 40 Heat. Increases Charring's damage multiplier by 140% of Bernice's attack power. Additionally, Charring's Fire Anomaly gain is increased by 100%. | A great mental ability that allows you to keep Char on enemies for much longer, which will start to deal even more damage to enemies, turning Bernice into a more powerful sub-DD that works from the pocket. Brings very high utility. |
Free refill | When Charred is triggered, the enemy is inflicted with the Thermal Penetration effect. The effect stacks up to 5 levels and lasts for 6 seconds. Repeated activations refresh the duration. When any squad member hits an enemy, the penetration percentage of the hit is increased by 4% for each level of Thermal Penetration (maximum 20%). | Slightly worse than the previous mental, however, it can also bring considerable benefit to a sub-DD playing from the pocket, since your main-DD will start to deal even more damage to the enemy with Char. Brings high benefit. |
Innate optimism | Basic Attack, Evasion, Assist, Special Attack, Chain Attack Level +2. | Provides average benefit. |
Bottomless Canister | When Bernice uses the enhanced special attack "High-Temperature Mixture - Double Shot", she stores 30 energy (cannot occur more than once every 1.5 seconds). The maximum duration of the flamethrower strike of the enhanced special attack "High-Temperature Mixture - Double Shot" is increased by 1 second. | For a sub-DD working from the pocket, this mentality will be useless, but if you build Bernice for crits and use her as an active damage dealer, then it can slightly increase her personal damage. Brings average benefit. |
Dance of Fire and Ice | Basic Attack, Evasion, Assist, Special Attack, Chain Attack Level +2. | Provides average benefit. |
An invitation with a sparkle | When Bernice hits an enemy with the enhanced special attack "High-Temperature Mixture - Double Shot", a special Charring is triggered, dealing damage equal to 25% of her attack power. This effect cannot occur more than once every 0.5 seconds and does not consume Heat. The enhanced special attack "High-Temperature Mixture - Double Shot" and Charring ignore 25% of the target's Fire Resistance. | An excellent mental ability that will be useful for both sub-DD and main-DD, allowing to increase both damage from Charring and the heroine's personal damage. Brings high benefits. |
If you still decide to try your luck, you can stop at M1 and M2 , thanks to which you can significantly increase the usefulness of Bernice as a sub-DD, since the damage from Charring will increase significantly. If you have a choice between a starting mental weapon and a signature weapon, then everything depends on the situation. If you have a suitable alternative, then it is better to knock out the M1, and if you don’t, then take the signature.
How to play as Bernice
Basic combinations
The heroine's main feature is her main passive, which allows her to apply Burn to enemies (using a held basic attack, chain attack, ult, and enhanced special attack), which turns into Charring (when they are attacked by another agent) and deals fire damage to them, depending on Bernice's attack power. Thus, she deals most of her damage outside the battlefield, and she can even cause Burning while being an inactive character.
Before she can do all that, however, you'll need to build up her Heat meter, which hangs underneath her icon, to activate the Nitro Cocktail state. The maximum you can get is 100, which is enough to trigger 13 Chars (each activation costs 8), meaning the mark will be able to hang on an enemy for at least 19.5 seconds.
After this, you will have to accumulate the Heat bar again. This can be done as follows:
- Super ability - gives 50 units of Heat at once, but this is a rather situational thing, because first you will need to gain a sufficient number of decibels, so you can’t exactly call the ult the main way to gain points.
- Enhanced Special Attack - Spending 1 Energy will generate 1.4 Heat, so using these attacks will be your main way to build up that gauge.
At the same time, you should not waste energy in vain. If your Heat bar is almost full, you should not use the enhanced special attack. Plus, you should remember that the finishing blow gives a powerful burst of points (fills about 15-20% of the bar), so try to release the ability button or use assistance a little earlier.
How do you gain energy? Regular basic attacks are not very effective, so we recommend using defensive assist, chain attacks, or a held basic attack (if Nitro Cocktail is active), since after these moves you can immediately perform a strengthened special attack with shooting from two flamethrowers (you need to press the "E" key), receiving Heat points.
So your rotation will look like this:
- Build up Bernice's energy by performing basic attacks or the above actions, then use her enhanced special attack to build up Heat and enter the Nitro Cocktail state.
- Apply Burn to enemies with a held Basic Attack, Chain Attack, Ultimate, or Empowered Special Attack. We recommend using the first option, as Fire Blend generates additional energy at the cost of 20 Heat.
- Then switch to your main DD and start hitting the enemy with Scorch to trigger Charring. This will deal additional damage to the enemy, plus they will accumulate a fire anomaly, which can lead to the application of the Burning debuff or even Chaos.
- If you're running low on Heat, you can perform a Defense Assist or Chain Attack to then use Bernice's enhanced special attack to fill up the gauge a little more.
- When you run out of Heat points, simply repeat the first steps.
This information will be enough to deal a lot of damage to enemies. If you want to maximize Bernice's damage, you can learn more advanced tactics for playing her.
Advanced Combinations
If you press and hold the enhanced special attack button once, the heroine will only fire from one flamethrower, but you can press the ability again to use the second flamethrower, but in this case, the energy costs will double. True, Heat will also accumulate faster.
So what are the downsides? Firstly, it is harder to control the accumulation of Heat, which is why you will waste energy more often. Secondly, based on the energy units spent, the total amount of anomaly accumulates from one flamethrower is greater than from two, although this happens more slowly.
Thus, you will need to carefully monitor the situation and adapt to the squads. For example, in a team with two or three fire heroes, the fire anomaly will already be in abundance, so you can safely fire from two flamethrowers to quickly switch to the main DD. Otherwise, you can linger on Bernice longer, shooting from one flamethrower and gaining more anomaly points.
Let's add that the chain of attacks allows Bernice to accumulate a huge amount of anomaly on enemies and use an attack from two flamethrowers, so we advise choosing it last in the order of actions. Also, do not forget to immediately switch to main DD after activating the ult, since Bernice will continue to pour fire on the enemy.
Plus, you should know that when using damage dealers who can attack several enemies at once, you can easily cause Charring on all affected enemies at once, and Heat will only be spent as for one. However, there are few such main DDs in the game so far. Billy is one of the free ones.
Advantages and disadvantages of Bernice
With her unique abilities, this fire-loving creature can deal significant fire damage, quickly causing Burning in enemies. Her advantages also include:
- A great secondary damage dealer who can deal a ton of fire damage outside of the battlefield without taking up much of the main DD's time. At the same time, her gameplay is quite easy to master, so she's suitable for beginners.
- She is not only able to accumulate anomaly from her pocket, but even activate it (at the time of patch 1.2, only Bernice has such an ability), which significantly simplifies the game through Chaos if she is in the squad.
- Pairs well with other Anomaly characters, as having them on the team allows her to activate an additional ability. Plus, she's a great asset for a Fire Mono pack, as she increases the duration of Burn.
- Char damage is not only affected by Bernice's attack power, but also by her Anomaly Knowledge stat, allowing her overall damage to be significantly increased by simply increasing these two stats.
However, it is still impossible to call Bernice an ideal character, since she also has her drawbacks:
- It can be difficult to build an effective build, as in addition to anomaly knowledge, anomaly control, and attack power, she may also require: energy regeneration (to use her enhanced special attack more often) and crits if you plan on turning her into a main DPS.
- When using the flamethrower, Bernice has to stay in one place - dashing from side to side does not always allow her to effectively dodge attacks, especially when fighting large numbers of enemies or bosses with area attacks.
- She is a rather narrowly specialized character that requires either a fire main DD or another Anomaly hero. She can be combined with damage dealers of other attributes that deal direct damage from crits, but her usefulness will drop significantly in this case.
Best build for Bernice
The best amplifiers
We recommend choosing a weapon that can increase the attack power and knowledge of the heroine's anomaly, and also, if possible, speed up her energy recovery. The table below shows the most interesting options.
Name | Characteristics | Ability and benefit |
---|---|---|
Shaker-firemaker |
Base Attack: 48-714 Attack Power: 12-30% |
Accelerates energy regeneration outside of combat by 0.6-1.2 units/sec. When the owner hits an enemy with an enhanced special attack or assist in an attack, the agent's damage is increased by 3.5-7%. This bonus is triggered no more than once every 0.3 seconds, accumulates up to 10 times and lasts for 6 seconds. While the wearer is out of combat, accumulation occurs 2 times more effectively, and repeated launches refresh the duration of the effect. When an agent receives a bonus to damage dealt, if the number of active charges of the effect is not less than 5, the agent's knowledge of the anomaly with this item increases by 50-100 units. This bonus does not stack and lasts 6 seconds. Bernice's signature weapon, which increases all the stats she needs, so it will be useful as both a sub-DD and a main-DD. If you have a choice between the M1 and a signature weapon, then take the first option if there is an alternative, as indicated below. |
Electro Lip Gloss |
Base Attack: 40-594 Anomaly Knowledge: 30-75 |
If there are enemies with attribute anomaly on the battlefield, the attack power of the agent with this item increases by 10-16%, and the damage of the target agent increases by 15-25%. At the 5th rank of improvement and with all active bonuses, it lags behind the signature weapon only a little, since it significantly increases the damage from Charring, so if you have this weapon with a full upgrade, you can skip the Shaker-Firemaker, focusing on getting the M1. |
Built-in compiler |
Base Attack: 46-684 Penetration chance: 9.6-24% |
Attack power increases by 12-24%. When launching a special attack or enhanced special attack, the agent's anomaly knowledge with this item increases by 25-50 units. The effect stacks up to 3 times, lasts for 8 seconds. The duration of each level is calculated separately. Bernice's chance of piercing is not very important, but she will benefit from the attack power increase and knowledge of the anomaly. She will activate the passive without any problems, since she often uses special attacks. Overall, this is a good amplifier, which, however, is inferior to the signature by 15%. |
Crying Twins |
Base Attack: 40-594 Attack Power: 10-25% |
Whenever a squad member casts an attribute anomaly on an enemy, the agent with this item gains 1 additional level of the effect, increasing their knowledge of the anomaly by 30-48 points. This effect can stack up to 4 times and disappears if the target is released from the stun state or is destroyed. The duration of each effect is calculated separately. Can be purchased in the toy store, and at rank 5 of the upgrade it lags behind the signature by only 20% (if all conditions are met). Stacks are collected quite quickly, especially in packs on "Chaos". |
Roaring car |
Base Attack: 40-594 Attack Power: 10-25% |
When an enhanced special attack hits an enemy, one random effect out of three is launched for 5 sec. Triggers once every 0.3 sec, identical effects do not stack, repeated launches reset the duration. Different effects can exist simultaneously. Possible effects: - the attack power of the agent with this item increases by 8-12.8%; - the knowledge of the anomaly of the agent with this item increases by 40-64 units; - the efficiency of accumulation of the attribute anomaly increases by 25-40%. Bernice often uses her enhanced special attack, so she won't have any problems with activating her passive. All three effects will be useful to her, as they will increase her damage. |
Tropical Gourmet |
Base Attack: 40-594 Anomaly Knowledge: 30-75 |
For every 10 energy spent, the agent with this item gains a 2.5-4% attack boost for 10 sec. The effect stacks up to 10 times, with each level's duration counted separately. It will be able to gain stacks quite quickly due to the rapid energy consumption, which will significantly increase its damage. However, it is worth remembering that the bonus only lasts 10 seconds, meaning it will only last for 6 Charring activations. |
Best Drive Discs
Name | Bonuses | Advantages |
---|---|---|
Chaos Jazz (4 parts) Freedom Blues/Hormon Punk/Swing Jazz (2 parts) |
2 parts: Increases knowledge of anomalies by 30 units. 4 pieces: Increases Fire and Shock damage by 15%. Increases damage from Empowered Special Attack and Off-Battle Assist by 20%. When the character enters combat, this bonus lasts for an additional 5 seconds. It can only occur once every 7.5 seconds. 2 parts: Increases knowledge of anomaly by 30 units/Increases attack power by 10%/Increases energy recovery by 20%. |
Chaos Jazz can be considered a signature set for Bernice, increasing all the stats she needs. It is perfect for sub-DD. Freedom Blues/Hormon Punk will help you increase Char damage even more. If you are lacking energy, then take Swing Jazz instead of the previous sets. |
Freedom Blues (4 parts) Chaos-jazz/Inferno-metal (2 parts) |
2 parts: Increases knowledge of anomalies by 30 units. 4 parts: When hitting an enemy with a strengthened special attack, the enemy's resistance to the wearer's attribute anomaly is reduced by 20% for 8 seconds. Effects for one attribute do not stack. 2 parts: Increases knowledge of anomaly by 30 units/Increases fire damage by 10%. |
This option is more suitable for those who decide to use Bernice as a main DD, as it will increase her personal damage. |
As for main characteristics of drives , then your selection should look like this:
- IV-sector: knowledge of anomaly (priority) or attack power%.
- V-sector: Fire damage bonus (priority) or penetration chance%.
- VI-sector: anomaly control (priority) or attack power%.
- Substats: Anomaly Knowledge > Attack Power% > Penetration Chance
If we talk about recommended parameter values Bernice, they should look something like this:
- Attack: 2400+ units
- Health: 9000+
- Defense: 800+
- Anomaly Knowledge: 300+ units (to get the maximum bonus to Charring damage)
- Anomaly Control: 150-195 units
Best Teams for Bernice
F2P team
Maine-DD | Sub-DD | Support | Banbu |
---|---|---|---|
Piper |
Bernice |
Lucy |
Red Mockus (Rocketaboo, Plaxaboo) |
A good free squad that can show itself well even in the late stages of the game. Thanks to Bernice and Piper, you can easily call Chaos on enemies, imposing both fire and physical anomalies on them at the same time. At the same time, Piper will be on the field most of the time, waving her huge hammer. Lucy will buff both heroines.

Red Mokkus (Revolverbu) |
Bernice pairs well with Jane (Piper), helping her to easily summon Chaos by accumulating Fire Anomaly from her pocket, while Lucy will give a nice buff to the rat, allowing her to deal even more damage.
If Lucy is absent, you can use Caesar or Seth, but we should note right away that both characters are aimed specifically at strengthening Jane, that is, they will give Bernice practically nothing. Unless the cat-boy can increase her knowledge of the anomaly.
Electric Fire Team
Maine-DD | Sub-DD | Support | Banbu |
---|---|---|---|
Bernice |
Grace |
Rina |
Plug (Electric plug) |
This is also a command for Chaos, however, it is somewhat different from the previous option, since Bernice will have to be on the field more often, sharing the role of damage dealer with Grace. Rina increases the chance of penetration, which is useful for Anomaly heroes, but you may have some problems with rotation without Bernice's M1, as her buffs are short-lived.
Fire Team
Maine-DD | Sub-DD | Support | Banbu |
---|---|---|---|
Soldier 11 |
Bernice |
Lucy (Kolyada) |
Rocketaboo (Plaxaboo, Red Mockus) |
Unfortunately, at the time of patch 1.2, there is only one main DD of the fire attribute in the game, and you can’t call it strong. For this reason, this squad is still inferior in strength to the Chaos teams. But Bernice will be able to significantly simplify the activation of Inferno Metal for Soldier 11, since she will constantly impose Burn on enemies.
