    In Baldur's Gate 3 The High Harper is Jaheira's personal quest, in which you can find and rescue Minsk, and then invite him to your party. In this guide, you'll learn how to start this quest, find the Cult Ranger, discover the code to the vault, and solve several puzzles with plates and valves.

    How to start a task

    First of all, of course, you will need to attach to yourself Jaheira, since without it you won’t be able to take the desired quest and communicate normally with Minsk. You can find the druid in the second act in the Last Light tavern. Help her fight off the attack of Marcus and the winged horrors, preventing Isobel's death, and then stop Shadowheart from being killed Song of the Night and successfully storm the Moon Tower.

    In the third chapter, go to Dantelon's Dancing Axe, located in the southern part of Dragon Crossing, and chat with its owner (X: -10, Y: 141). Naturally, Jaichera must be present in your squad - only in this case will you receive a rusty key to the basement from the store owner, which will lead to the start of the corresponding mission.

    Note: Without knowing about the existence of this quest, you may well have already explored Baldur's Gate and triggered some cutscenes of the mission without its presence in the quest diary. In this case, a bug will occur in which marks of the desired targets will no longer appear on the map. In this case, you will need to sequentially visit all the locations that we have indicated below until the quest takes its course again.

    Find Minsk

    After receiving the key, go to the double door opposite the merchant's counter. If Dantelon suddenly starts shouting about private property, preventing you from opening the door, then leave the store and go into the desired room on the other side. The screenshot below shows both inputs. Then go down the stairs.

    Once you're at the bottom, you'll be ambushed by cultists. During the conversation, you can figure out their plan and attack first. There will be several enemies, but they are not very strong, so you will have to deal with them without any problems. Then chat with the harper Heraldus.

    Explore the Guild Tavern

    Now you will need to head to the Lower City. From the Heap Coast portal, go a little northeast and talk to Tasgront (X: 54, Y: -101) standing in the alley. Convince him to let you into the guild tavern by passing several checks. After this, the guard will open a hidden door in the wall for you.

    Note: If you were unable to convince the guard in any way, but at the same time you have well-developed Sleight of Hand, then you can try to decorate him with a Guild Ring, which then needs to be inserted into the groove in the wall where the entrance opens.

    Once inside, move north to Nine-Fingered's office (X: -39, Y: 776) - you can safely walk past the guards, as no one will stop you. Watch a short cutscene and then chat with the girl. You will find out that an ambush is being prepared for Minsk, but you will not be able to get any more information.

    You will need to ask other inhabitants of the tavern. Leave the room and go down the stairs. On the right you can find the treasurer Uktar. If you pass the Persuasion check (18), you can learn that Minsk should be looked for in the Accounting Chamber.

    If you were unable to persuade the treasurer, then turn left from him, go up the stairs and talk to the drunken gnomes on the right. Then select the very first dialogue option, and they themselves will reveal all the necessary information to you, even without skill checks.

    How to solve the slab puzzle and get into the secure vault

    You can find the Accounts Chamber in the south of the Lower City. Enter it and chat with Mead (X: -103, Y: -176), who is standing behind the counter. He will tell you about the robbery taking place right now in the vault. Use Deception, Intimidation or Persuasion to get a financial institution employee to give you a temporary downstairs pass.

    Talk to the guards near the huge doors and give them the pass. Go through the doors and start going downstairs, showing documents if necessary. Then interact with the round iron door to enter the vault.

    Once you find yourself in a new location, run forward without turning anywhere. To get into the Specially Protected Vault, you will need to solve a small puzzle with slabs. There are two ways to solve this: enter the correct code by standing on the numbers with the plates in a certain sequence (shown below) or pour water on the floor and then use lightning.

    Note: If you want to find out the combination yourself, then go back upstairs and get to the 2nd level of the Accounting Chamber. Get into the Chief Banker's Office using invisibility or stealth. Pass the Sleight of Hand check (20) and study the book, where the combination is indicated - 1356.

    Where to find Minsk in the Accounts Chamber

    After you open the door, go to a new area. A new video will begin in which you will see Minsk for the first time, but he will almost immediately run away from you. You will have to deal with a group of opponents.

    Having dealt with the enemies, enter the vault at number 9 and with a high enough Attention you will realize that the tracks lead to the sewer. You can also simply examine the bodies of enemies and find a note with the necessary information.

    We strongly advise you not to leave the Accounting Chamber immediately - before doing so, you should unlock all other vaults by passing a Sleight of Hand check (30). The fact is that inside you will find a huge amount of gold coins, blackmail items, valuable equipment and a sample of the illithid parasite.

    How to solve the valve puzzle in the Abandoned Tank

    You will need to get into the Sewers. This can be done using any descent into it. The screenshots below show the location of one of these hatches (X: -160, Y: -62) in the Lower City.

    Once down, start moving west to reach the Abandoned Cistern. The pictures below show the entire route. After entering a room with a giant pipe, jump onto it, and then run forward along it and deal with a group of guards.

    Cross over to the wooden platform, where you will encounter a valve puzzle, solving which will allow you to open the sluice gate. The easiest way to do this is to interact with the leftmost valve (sluice valve) and pass an Athletics check.

    If you don’t succeed with Athletics, you will have to achieve ideal water levels and temperatures in the boilers. To do this, first turn the water valve. Then look at the inscription at the top of the screen, which shows the water level. When you see the word “Perfect” there, turn the valve again to secure the result.

    Next, interact with the temperature valve and again monitor the level at the top of the screen. Once you see that the water is perfectly heated, the hatch below will open and you can go through the opened passage.

    How to find and save Minsk in the sewer

    Run forward along the pipe, and you will find yourself in a new room with Minsk and his “friends”. A cutscene will begin in which you will not be able to convince the big guy, so you will have to fight him. First, deal with the remaining enemies, and only then take on the main target.

    Beat Minsk until his health bar drops to the point where he is 1-2 hits away from death. At this moment, open the “Passives” window by clicking on the corresponding button at the bottom of the screen, and then select the “Switch to non-lethal attacks” function. Next, use your bare hands or a melee weapon to simply knock out Minsk without killing him.

    Note: If Minsk dies, Jaheira will not forgive you and will leave the squad. Thus, you will lose two companions at once.

    Next, you will have to persuade the Emperor to protect the mind of Minsk from the influence of the Absolute. You can do this by selecting the following answers:

    1. Give him your protection.
    2. “He is Jaheira's friend. Do it” or “His unpredictability has already saved the city once. We need him"
    3. "Doesn't matter. I’ll help him” or “I doubt you want to check this.”

    Having freed Minsk's mind, you need to help him find the hamster Boo. To do this, run after the big guy, who will break through the walls, opening new passages for you. Then watch a funny cutscene of the two friends reuniting.

    Note: We advise you to immediately heal Minsk after the battle and conversation, otherwise he may accidentally die with only 1 HP.

    Treat Boo with respect, and then invite both of them into your squad. This will be the end of Jaheira's quest.
