Killing Moon in Cyberpunk 2077: Give Jay Reed or kill him

    Fenthick

Killing Moon in Cyberpunk 2077 is the thirteenth story mission of the Phantom Liberty expansion, continuing the events along the Jay line, if you decide to trust the girl. In this guide, we will look at completing the quest: infiltrating the spaceport, fighting with the special forces who arrived in time, and then choosing from two possible scenarios for continuing this story.

Walkthrough of the mission "Killing Moon" in Cyberpunk 2077

    How to start a task

The name of the quest in English is the name of the song of the same name “The Killing Moon” by the British rock band “Echo & the Bunnymen”.

The mission is a continuation of the quest "Judgment Day", but it will not start immediately after its completion, but after some time. Or rather, its first stage will begin immediately, but you will have to be patient. Jay needs several days to recover, so you can be distracted by completing a side quest for this line - "Interregnum". Or you can scroll through 3-5 days of game time using the "Wait" option in the character menu.

Wait for news from Jay and arrive at the meeting place

You can do side errands or just get a good night's sleep at home - sooner or later, first Reed will contact you, and then Somi. The girl clearly had a hard time, her exhausted voice speaks of this.

At the designated location around the corner you will find a van, climb back and talk to Jay. It turns out that there is a certain clinic on the Moon that can help her and V heal - in the future.

To make a prototype of the medicine, Somi must go there alone, which will require your help and support. Next stop is the spaceport. Take the driver's seat and get there.

    Go through security checkpoint

Enter the spaceport through the central doors and head to the security checkpoint. The guard will warn you that the combat implants have been turned off, and then ask you to look into the camera to verify your identity. Jay will falsify the documents, but we need to bide his time. With 13 points of Cold Blood, the best line would be "In which?" .

When the progress indicator is filled to the end, your partner will finish her machinations and you can finally figure out which camera you need to look into - it is behind the guard on the left.

    Get to the Tycho terminal

Inside the boarding area you need to pick up a package from a “friend”, it is located in the baggage terminal right next to the stairs. To receive, you need to enter the code from the message that Somi will send - 930604. A yellow suitcase will appear on the tape on the left, in it you will find disguise items in the form of a uniform and a service flashlight. They can be easily equipped in any secluded corner of the room.

Next you can get into the technical shaft, it is hidden behind the bushes on the first tier of the waiting room. You need to follow it to a dead end, then climb to the upper branch on the left. There will be a hatch leading to the desired room.

Somi will get in touch, who, alas, had to drive away from the back door, so the plan changes on the fly - now you need to climb onto the roof. Follow the quest marker and safely pass by the workers if you are wearing a uniform. It will stop working a little later, when there is a meeting with drones and cameras.

Get into the terminal without technical skills

A slightly longer option, but not requiring upgrading the corresponding parameter. You can look into the toilets on the lower tier of the hall and climb into the ventilation shaft in the corner. It will immediately lead to a tunnel through which trains move at a very high frequency.

Start running immediately after the train passes by and take advantage of the breaks in each of the niches along the way. At the end of the tunnel you will turn right and go into the same room as in the previous infiltration option.

Take the elevator to the roof

    Вход со стороны "метро"
    Entrance from the metro side
    Вход из технической шахты
    Entrance from the technical shaft

As soon as you enter the construction site, you can immediately head to the elevator, the passage to it is on the second tier. There are robotic guards here that can detect you, so it's better to sneak through. Although it is not forbidden to simply run to the elevator, the security on the roof will not be alerted.

Once at the top, go down the stairs to the open part of the roof. Johnny will be standing at the right place, and then he will move below, to the fire hose, which you need to use.

V will pull Jay upstairs along with the equipment you gave her for safekeeping. Take the weapon and follow the girl. Soon the roof will become unsafe and you will have to turn into the service premises. While Myers and Reed are discussing the situation nearby, sneak through the ventilation past them.

When you reach the elevator and take it down to the main hall, the battle will begin, and the rest of the way will have to be made through enemies attacking from all sides.

    Return to the Tycho terminal

You need to make your way to the opposite corner of the hall below and continue moving along the corridors. There are also a lot of special forces here who will have to be dealt with.

In the next room there is a battle between agents and airport security. Before you are discovered, you can take out most of the soldiers from long range. Then simply avoid obstacles and move towards the exit, shooting enemies.

Use the next elevator and go up to the departure hall.

    Departure hall

Follow Somi and get to the shop where the girl sits down to rest. The conversation will reveal the considerable adventurism of the whole plan, but you have already passed the point of no return and all that remains is to move on.

After the conversation, access to the next room will open, where you will be met by an enemy helicopter and operatives. Eliminate the agents and make your way to the second floor in between air gunfire.

When the fire on you resumes, you can wait again behind cover. At the end of the hall there will be an exit to the tunnels, which will lead you to the next large hall. Here you will also encounter many strong opponents, as in the entire mission.

Control tower: survive until the train arrives

The current mission, consisting of shootouts from start to finish, is the exact opposite of the alternative task (if you side with Reed and try to capture Jay) - "Gaze into the Abyss". The key assignment of the other branch of events, on the contrary, is an experience of intense stealth-suspense.

Having reached the control room with Jay, wait while she hacks the terminal. All this time you need to fight off approaching enemies and wait for the netrunner to bring the train here.

    Drive

When the train arrives, a helicopter will also visit you. Go to Jay and talk. You use the capabilities of the “black screen” against the infantrymen storming the premises, which will allow you to quickly deal with an almost hopeless situation. Then help Jay get up and guide her towards the train, while using her newly acquired strength by left-clicking as enemies approach.

Put the girl on the train and go. Along the way, you will discuss remaining questions, many of which will have disappointing answers. For example, Soyka told you the fact about the finiteness of the applications of the neuromatrix just now - but what could she do?

The dialogue opens up the opportunity to dial Rida and agree on the transfer of Jay. This choice is no different from a similar one made a little later, except that a couple of replicas change.

    Bring Jay to the shuttle

When starting this part of the task, it is better to make an additional save. Next, a plot fork awaits you.

When you arrive, carry Somi in your arms, following the quest marker. When you approach the shuttle, Reed will block your path. There is no point in ignoring the warnings, in which case he will simply shoot you. The same thing will happen if you refuse to put the girl on the ground and be insolent.

Give Jay Reed or kill him

Give Jay to the US in exchange for medicine (King of Swords ending)

Handing the girl over to the Secret Service will lead to the achievement "King of Swords" and subsequently unlock the "Tower" ending for the original game - in which V receives healing.

Solomon convinces you that the neural matrix will not be needed to treat Jay, so by giving the girl, your protagonist can be cured instead. Looking ahead, it will be so. In this case, the spy will take Somi, the mission will end, and you will immediately move on to the next quest - “Closing the Circle”.

Hand over Jay to the US, refusing treatment (King of Swords ending)

This decision will also subsequently give you the “King of Swords” achievement, since the ending is a subtype of the previous one.

In the dialogue with Reed, select “Just take her. I do not need anything". You can prefer such an ending based on any of your own considerations: distrust of the agency, which may in any case not keep its promises; fear for the life of Jay, who also needs treatment (suddenly there is really only one “dose”); the desire to leave the game in which each side used you for their own purposes. In this case, Johnny will respectfully approve of your action, and Reed will be surprised. Unlike the previous ending, the story will not continue with an expansion of the original game's plot.

Kill Reed and send Jay to the Moon (King of Wands ending)

Like the previous option, obtaining the “King of Wands” achievement also does not imply subsequent treatment for V. It is only possible in two branches, when you transfer Jay to the US in exchange for help with your problem.

If you choose any of the aggressive dialogue paths or simply refuse to hand over Jay, Reed will eventually pull out his weapon and shoot - There's no way to convince him to back down. You will have a couple of seconds to get ahead of him and shoot the spy.

Take the girl to the landing spot and return to the observation deck to watch the takeoff. After talking with Johnny, the quest will end, and a little later you will receive the next, last one in this branch - “Signal from Space”.
