“Avenge the Circle of Glot” is a side quest from the first act of the game Baldur's Gate 3. Going down to Underdark, you will find yourself in a Colony of Myconids - intelligent Mushrooms that communicate using telepathy. One of them is a myconid named Glot will ask for your help to avenge his circle, overthrow Lord Spav and become the new ruler of the Colony. In this article you will learn which side to choose and what rewards will await you for each decision.

How to start the quest “Avenge the Circle of Glot”

    Talk to the Myconid Lord

After descending into the Underdark, in the north of the map you will find a location Grotto at Ebenozer. When you pass through the Timmask traps and the Mushroom Flame, myconids will block your path

The restless Myconid will telepathically connect you with his Master. In order for them to let you through, you can choose almost any answer option, except for the “attack” option. The Lord, having approved your answer, will be waiting for you to talk.

You can find Lord Spav not far from the rune circle “Underdark - myconid colony”, climbing up the mushrooms (X:80, Y:-102).

Spav will ask you for a favor - to exterminate the hostile Dvergars who have settled on the shore in dilapidated village.

The Lord will also promise to reward you generously. Telepathically, he will show you a cave where there are “riches of magic and intelligence”, which you can take after completing the task. After this the quest will begin "Defeat the Dvergar Invaders".

You can also enter the cave yourself before killing the Dvergars by cutting the vines blocking the entrance to the cave. None of the NPCs nearby will react to this in any way. She is located next to the merchant Derrit Bonecloak and is guarded by a rote (X:55, Y:-92).

In the cave you will find the corpse of a drow, in whose inventory you can find several interesting things: the book “Flumph Mating Games”, ice metal, some gold, three types of poison, a gem and several alchemical ingredients.

To read a book, you must select[Расследование] Carefully examine the book . After passing the test (15), it turns out that the book is enchanted and actually tells about Adamantine Forge.

Also in the cave are various scrolls and a rare helmet Shadows of Menzoberranzan. It grants the wearer the Enveloping Shadows effect: Turn invisible. The effect ends when you attack, perform an action, or take damage.

    Talk to Glot

On the way to the Dilapidated Village, passing by the merchant Derrit Bonecloak, the myconid Glot will start a conversation with you (X:58, Y:-108).

Glot will start asking your character about his house. In response, he will telepathically show you his home: a damp cave full of killed myconids. Glot will tell you that his circle was attacked by the Dvergars, and he wants to take revenge on them.

Having heard that you are heading to destroy the Dvergar at the request of Spav, Glot will ask to go with you.

    Defeat the Dvergar

If you take Glot with you, the Dvergar will attack immediately, without prior conversation.

Glot has several special actions in battle:

    • Multiattack - attack a prone target multiple times.
    • Animating Spores - Infuse a corpse with spores, turning it into a spore servant.
    • Fist - attack the enemy with a protrusion.

Also, do not forget to treat Glot in time. With his death, the quest “Avenge the Circle of Glot” will end.

If you decide to leave Glot in place and destroy the Dvergar without him, you will still have to take Glot to the battlefield so that he can verify your words.

On the shore there will be a group of Dvergars, led by Gekh Ugolek. The peculiarities of the battle with them are that Gekh himself can revive up to four dead people. He and the rest of his group can also inflict blindness and become invisible.

The quest “Save the Dwarves in Grimforge” is closely related to these Dvergars, the passage of which is described in detail in this article.

After defeating the Dvergar, Glot will invite you to talk. He will tell us that he plans to overthrow Lord Spav, but only with our help. In response to the question “Are you rebelling against Spav, who gave you refuge?” , Glot will tell you how he called for help when the Dvergar were destroying his circle, but he did not help him. In turn, Glot will offer us to help kill Spav for a reward.

    Which side to take?

    Help Glot kill Spav

If you agree to help Glot, go to Lord Spav and report to him about the dead Dvergar.

Spav will reward you with the title Peacemaker. We start the conversation again and choose “You picked a bad name for me, Spav. Now the ruler is Glot, and I bring death to you.” .

A battle will begin, where the entire myconid colony will join. However, after you kill Spav, the myconids will no longer be hostile and will immediately accept the new overlord.

The charlatan will receive inspiration "Warmonger: Induce Glot to rebel - and then join one of the sides."

Glot will reward you with the title Confidant of the Overlord and the “Winter’s Grip” gloves (When the owner deals cold damage, the “Crust of Ice” effect is applied to the target for two turns).

Glot will also agree with Spav's opinion that it is necessary to finish off Faithful Nere and will order you to bring his head as a coronation gift.

How to find and defeat Loyal Nere is described in detail in this article.

As a reward for the head of Loyal Nere, you will receive from Glot the rare amulet “Chain of the Champion” - giving +2 in intimidation checks.

If you want to examine the inventory of the dead Spav, then Glot will not allow you to do this. However, you can examine the body in stealth mode, simultaneously distracting the myconids with a bard's song or the "Minor Illusion" spell. You'll find several alchemical ingredients, scrolls (Vague and Humanoid Paralysis), and a Master's Key.

Lord's Key Gives the entire team the Overlord's Defense condition, which helps avoid the effects of Myconid traps. For example, Flame Mushrooms and Bibberbangs. However, mushroom traps outside Ebenozer's Grotto are not affected by this condition.

    Choose Spav's side

If you want to help Spav, there are several options.

The simplest option is refuse Glot's help in killing the Dvergars and don’t talk to him anymore.

If you decide to take Glot with you after you've dealt with the Dvergar, simply refuse to help him overthrow Spav. The battle will start automatically.

You can take scrolls (“Vague” and “Humanoid Paralysis”) and alchemical ingredients from Glot’s body.

Next, you need to tell Spav that the Dvergar are dead. He will reward you with a title Peacemaker. We also inform Spav that you killed the traitor Glot, who wanted to overthrow him, and the ruler will reward you with a new title - Lonely winner.

Each time an overlord bestows a title on you, a temporary condition appears "Disputes of Bliss", which adds a +1d6 bonus to all checks and attacks.

Spav will also ask you to bring the head of the Faithful to Nera and after you complete the task, he will reward you with the title Lifesinger and the Messenger's Amulet, which grants +2 to Persuasion checks.
