    Vivarium in Hogwarts Legacy - a room in the help-room, which serves as a nursery with magical creatures. This is the name of a special place at universities and laboratories where the study or breeding of animals takes place. In the game, you can arrange such a location to your liking, place the captured animals there, take care of them, get valuable ingredients for improvements, and also earn solid money for selling their offspring. Our guide will tell you about all these possibilities, as well as how to catch all the critters in the game.

    How to open and expand the vivarium

    Areas for placing stalls and other livestock buildings will appear in your secret hideout after completing the story mission "Elf, grab-bag, loom". It masters the spell of capturing creatures in a magic bag, which will allow in the future to arrange a small personal zoo within the walls of the castle. A little earlier than this point, along the main quest chain, you will also learn how to care for magical animals and open the secret room itself.

    Biomes: how to discover new landscapes and increase the number of creatures in the vivarium

    As soon as you open a vivarium, you probably want to know how to increase the number of creatures living in it. In total, it is permissible to keep up to 48 animals in different rooms, 12 for each of the four biomes:

    • Forest - a standard biome, opens with a vivarium;
    • Beach - added during the story mission "The fate of the house elf";
    • Swamp - unlocked by breeding thestrals in the quest "Offspring of death itself" ;
    • Meadow/Mountains - become available after completing the quest "Rising Phoenix".

    Also, for some wards, a certain habitat is required, which differs in each of the environments presented above.

    How to house critters in a vivarium and care for them

    The animals you have caught are displayed in the corresponding section of the inventory. Open it while in the vivarium, and you can release the animal to freedom.

    Magical creatures need care - if you approach and interact with any of them, you will see the needs, which, as a rule, consist in feeding and combing the animal. With proper care, a contented beast will occasionally reward its owner with a reagent unique to each of them.

    How to set up a vivarium

    Although the buildings available for construction in the vivarium are not limited to livestock buildings, now we will focus on them. For the comfort of the inhabitants of your personal mini-zoo, you can build three types of buildings.

    Creature feeder

    Here, animals grazing in the open spaces of the vivarium will be able to eat on their own, without waiting for your visit. Significantly simplifies the routine of caring for animals.

    Toys for animals

    Let you have fun with your smaller friends. Different types of animals prefer different toys - their type can be changed when interacting with the box.

    Paddock

    Needed for breeding creatures. This process is discussed in detail in the already mentioned task "Offspring of death itself". It is necessary to place the female and male inside, and when interacting with the book at the entrance to the stall, select "reproduction". There are four paddocks in one location.

    How to breed critters

    We have already talked about the mechanism of obtaining offspring using a paddock, but there are several key points that are worth mentioning separately:

    • The total limit of corrals for all biomes is 16 pieces. Accordingly, you can receive the same number of animals as offspring once every half an hour;
    • In one area of the vivarium there can be creatures of 4 different types, up to 12 creatures in total. That is, 8 is 4 pairs of females and males, and 4 more slots must be left for offspring. Thus, if we talk about optimization, you need to place a strictly paired number of animals of different sexes;
    • By selling offspring obtained in this way, you can receive approximately 2000 gold coins every half hour. You can do this in the Beak and Tuft shop in the northern part of Hogsmeade.

    All animals (creatures) in Hogwarts Legacy

    Achievement "Such is the nature of all creatures"

    The specified trophy is given to the player after breeding all available types of non-aggressive magical animals. Below we will go through the full list of 13 such creatures.

    A little tip for catching creatures: when you see the necessary animal, use spells from afar "Levioso", and when you get closer, cast the Glacius spell. And now, when the creature is immobilized, you can safely use the "Grip-bag" and drag the future pet into the bag.

    Note: some of these creatures are found with an asterisk next to the name. In fact, this is just a mark of their rarity: such animals are harder to catch and they are not so common.

    Note: In parentheses, we will indicate the original English name of each creature. You can type it into the search bar at interactive map and see all existing habitats of this species.
