Pity System in Honkai Star Rail: how to count soft guarantor and 50/50

Pity System in Honkai Star Rail: how to count soft guarantor and 50/50

    Zorthrus

In Honkai: Star Rail, the guarantor is a special system that allows you to get a 5-star character or a light cone with a 100% chance after a certain number of Jumps. In this guide, we will tell you how this mechanism works and how the soft guarantee and 50/50 are calculated.

In the final section, we use an example different banners indicate the number of twists and star jade needed to get certain heroes and weapons. This will allow you to roughly calculate your possible costs.

How the guarantor system works in Honkai: Star Rail

This refers to the number of Jumps you need to complete during the gacha before you are guaranteed to drop a 4 or 5 star rarity fighter or light cone. However, there is always a chance of getting these objects without reaching the appropriate number.

Number of Jumps for a guaranteed drop:

    • 4-Star Light Cone - 10 attempts
    • 4-star character - 10 attempts
    • 5-Star Light Cone - 80 attempts
    • 5 star character - 90 tries

This means that if after the 9th jump you still haven't received a 4-star weapon or hero, then on the 10th attempt you are guaranteed to get a drop with a rarity of 4 stars or higher.

This also applies to rarer items - if after the 89th twist (79th for weapons) you still have not received a 5-star equipment or a fighter, then your next attempt with a 100% chance will bring you a legendary drop.

Why you need to know the guarantor

By jumping in standard or event banners, you will, sooner or later, get a legendary light cone or a hero. However, knowing approximately how many attempts you have left before the drop, you will be able to spend the Star Jades and Passes you have more efficiently.

How to determine the number of twists to the guarantor

You do not need to write down information about all the characters and light cones you receive, as it can be viewed in the banner menu in the section "Story" . This page shows all the 4- and 5-star items that have dropped out, so you can easily calculate how many prayers you have left to complete the prayers to get the desired hero or weapon.

Note: Each banner has its own guarantor counter (read more about this below), so you can select the type of Jump you need at the top of the screen.

    Soft guarantor

While the base chance of getting a 5-star character is 0.6%, players have discovered a hidden guarantor system called soft pity that increases this chance after a certain number of tries. After the 75th spin in the event and standard banners, the probability of 0.6% will gradually increase to 20%, and then reach 100% on the 90th jump (hard guarantee or hard pity), that is, starting from the 75th attempt, you will have an increased chance of getting a 5-star hero.

The same goes for the weapon banner. "Sparkling Fixation", although it has a soft guarantee starting around spin 65, also increasing the base 0.8% to 20% on the final attempts, and then reaching a 100% chance on the 80th jump.

The 50/50 Rule: Dropping Random Characters and Weapons

When you get a 5-Star Hero in Event Jump: Character, there is a 50% chance that it will be a fighter that is not related to the banner you are jumping on. This situation is called the 50/50 rule.

If you have not received the hero indicated in the banner, then it is guaranteed to drop out to you at the next guarantor. In this case, a new countdown will be carried out after the soft guarantor.

An illustrative example: Let's say you started spinning the "Butterfly on the Edge" banner, but on your 50th try, you suddenly got a Cheetah. This situation is a 50/50 loss, so you will need to perform from 1 to 90 jumps again in order to now have a 100% chance of getting Zele.

If you are lucky and you win 50/50, then the guarantor for the drop of a specific hero in the event banner will still be 50%. This will continue until you draw a standard legendary character again.

    Banner counters and guarantor transfer

Each of the three banners (Event Jump: Character, Event Jump: Light Cone, and Star Jump) has its own guarantor counter. It resets when you receive a 5 star rarity drop.

Note: This rule does not apply to the "Starting Jump", which disappears from the banner list after the 50th attempt. But on its basis, the reroll method is built, which allows you to get the desired 5-star hero at the very beginning of the game.

If a temporary banner expires on a hero or light cone, its counter is transferred to the next event banner. Let's say you spent 68 jumps to drop Kafka, but did not have time to get it, as the prayer for the Silver Wolf began. In this case, you will not need to start all over again, that is, the “she-wolf” is guaranteed to fall out already on the 22nd spin (unless a soft guarantee occurs or you lose 50/50).

Let's add that you don't have to spin one banner consecutively for the guarantor system to work, since attempts for each of them are counted separately. Getting a rare character or weapon in one of them resets the counter only in it, without affecting the others.

Light Cone Guarantee in the Sparkling Fixation Banner

It works very differently from Genshin Impact's "Incarnation of the Divine" weapon banner, which requires 2 Fate points to be guaranteed to drop the event weapon. Everything is somewhat simpler here - the probability of a banner light cone falling out is 75%. If you get a different weapon, then in the next 80 jumps with a 100% chance you will receive an event cone.

Examples of calculating the guarantor for different banners

    Event Jump: Character

Let's take a banner as an example. "Butterfly on the Edge", which allows you to get characters such as Zele, Natasha, Hook and Pela with an increased probability. The table below shows how many twists and star jade you have to spend to guarantee the indicated heroes.

Character Number of attempts to guarantee star jade
    180 28,800
    Any 5-star character 90 14,400
    20 3,200
    Any 4-star character 10 1,600

    Sparkling fixation

As an example, let's take a banner that gives you a higher chance to receive light cones such as In the Night, Conversation after Surgery, Good Night and Peaceful Sleep, and Moles Greet You. The table below shows how many twists and star jade you will need to spend to guarantee the specified weapon.

Weapon Number of attempts to guarantee star jade
    160 25,600
    Any 5-star weapon 80 12,800
    20 3,200
    Any 4-star weapon 10 1,600

    Star jump

The table below shows how many Spins and Star Jade you will need to spend in order to be guaranteed characters or light cones from a standard banner.

Light cones and characters Number of attempts to guarantee star jade
    Any 5-star character or weapon 90 (80) 14,400 (12,800)
    Any 4-star character or weapon 10 1,600

We hope that information about the Warrantor in Honkai: Star Rail will help you better distribute jumps to get the desired characters and light cones.
