In Honkai: Star Rail Gold and gears are one of the modes Virtual universe, added with the release of patch 1.6. Gold and Gears: Experiential Learning
As part of this task, you will need to complete a tutorial battle in a new mode. The main boss here will be the Mighty Primate, so be sure to take heroes with fire, ice or wind elements into your squad.
Overall, Gold and Gears has a lot in common with the familiar Invasion of the Swarm. After completing the tutorial, chat with Gerta again as part of a small task "Gold and Gears: Secrets of KMM I". This way you can continue exploring at different difficulty levels. Self-awareness
In “Gold and Gears” you will come across such an indicator as the Value of Consciousness. You can see its current value within each individual study above the measurement map. During exploration, the meaning of Self-Awareness changes in the following ways:

Try not to choose a boss in the second dimension that will allow your final enemy to use Abundance Resonance. With it, not only will they be able to constantly heal, prolonging the battle and exhausting allies, but it will also remove the debuffs you place on them.

The damage of this resonance to allies will increase in direct proportion to the damage they inflict on their enemies. Thus, towards the end of the battle there will be a particularly high probability of losing the entire squad and losing.
General Tips
Before starting the test, do not forget to choose the Path that best suits the characteristics of your squad. As part of Gold and Gears, you will also have access to Erudite buffs, which are aimed at enhancing superpowers and damage to many enemies.
Notice the weave of resonance. These challenges are different from those available in Invasion of the Swarm. In this case, you will be able to choose two Paths whose blessings you do not want to receive as part of the current study.
Also in “Gold and Gears” there is a neural network available, which is an analogue of the Skill Tree from the ordinary Virtual Universe. Remember that you can re-roll the die or use a cheat attempt to get the side that suits you. Also remember that all dice have their own passive effect. Fulfill the specified conditions to receive additional boosts corresponding to the chosen Path.
Keep an eye on the counter to the left of the map at all times. The number on it will decrease with each time you move around the map. When it reaches 0, you will enter a state of Planar Chaos. With each level, the power of opponents increases significantly, which can complicate the passage. This mode may only be useful to you if you decide to receive additional rewards from the “Challenge” section.
In the final dimension, you can encounter various automatons, Stingbug from Invasion of the Swarm or Beauty Knight Argenti as bosses. We told you how to deal with the latter in separate guide. All enemies will have an ice vulnerability in common, so try to select a squad in accordance with their characteristics.
Don't be discouraged if you fail to complete any challenge. With each new passage you will earn neuroimpulses to upgrade your neural network. You will also discover new secrets, along with which you will receive new sides for Your bones. In this way, you will become stronger and expeditions will become easier, and sooner or later you will successfully complete explorations on all difficulty levels.
Gold and Gears mode rewards
For completing all difficulty levels, you can earn 2 Fate Imprints, 2 Self-Modeling Resin, 4000 Star Jades, 4 Star Passes and other valuable items.
By managing to collect all the chapters in the specified mode, and completing the side quest “Gold and Gears: Finale,” you can unlock the Erudition path for the main worlds of the Virtual Universe.
