Clockwork in Honkai Star Rail: where to find characters to change emotions

    dzmx_x

In Honkai: Star Rail Clockwork is a special game mechanic that operates on Penaconia and allows you to change the emotions of certain characters on their emote dial. By using it, you will be able to receive various rewards, including hour credits, Aiden tokens and stickers for Passes to the Dream World, and unlock secret achievements.

In some cases, you will be able to provide access to small adventure missions with additional reward. In this guide, we will tell you exactly how this system works and where to find characters whose emotions can be changed.

How the Clockwork works in Honkai: Star Rail

You will gain access to this mechanic as part of the Mastery mission called “A Night Called Tenderness.” From now on, you will be able to change the emotions of some of the inhabitants of Penaconia. However, we recommend taking on this task after completing the “Sound and Fury” storyline, so that all locations and quests are available to you.

Let us add that the characters who can be influenced by the Clockwork Mechanism should be formally divided into two types. The first group includes NPCs, interaction with which opens up access to side quests. They can be recognized by the icon with a wrench hanging above their head (see screenshot above). They are required to provide one of four gears to replenish their memories:

The second group consists of characters who do not give out any quests and do not require gears - you can immediately begin changing their emotions to receive certain rewards. A Clock icon hangs above their heads (see image below).

In both cases, you need to start a conversation with an NPC and, after a short dialogue, select the answer “Start the Clockwork Mechanism” or “Feel the power of the Clockwork Mechanism.” Sometimes you need to enter into dialogue with a person twice in order for the necessary response to appear. Then simply choose one of the four emotions and see where it leads.

Note: Characters from the first group, after completing their personal quests, will also be able to freely change emotions, which will allow you to receive additional rewards.

    Clockwork Quests

At this point in time on Penaconia, you can complete 14 secondary tasks related to the use of this mechanic. There is no need to look for them yourself, because you can turn to a psychodetective for help at any time. In Golden Moment, this role is played by Wolsey, who is located northwest of the Dream Hotel Entrance anchor.

On the Dream Frontier, Wolsey also does this job (it is unclear how he can be in two places at the same time). It can be found southwest of the Family Construction Bureau anchor. So, you need to talk to him and ask him what you should pay attention to in your dreams. Then choose which character you need - the psychodetective will point to the NPC who needs this or that gear.

If there are no such “non-writings”, then Wolsey will directly say so. Otherwise, he will ask you for 1 Aiden token for information. After this, an icon will appear on the map showing the location of the person who needs your help. If you don't want to spend tokens, then just read the information below, where we showed the location of all the people you need and provided links to completing their missions.
