In Wuthering Waves Echoes are special summonable entities that can be equipped to heroes, increasing their characteristics and giving them new abilities. They differ in rarity, parameters, bonuses and appearance. In this guide, we will tell you how you can get and upgrade Echoes, as well as what attributes and skills they can have.
Let's add that we will indicate all the types of Echoes presented in the game, tell you about their combination with each other, and tell you how best to combine these creatures with each other to obtain maximum benefit for the hero.
Important: If you already know the basic information on Echoes, and you just want to find out what “artifacts” are best to equip a particular character, then you can immediately go to the section with a list of all types of Echoes in the game.
What is Echo in Wuthering Waves
In short, Echo is an additional equipment for heroes, similar in principle to artifacts from Genshin Impact. The only difference is that you can summon the creature you are using, if it is first on the list, to use its combat skill. Depending on your Cost Limit, you can equip a character with up to 5 different Echoes at the same time.
Note that in terms of cost, Echo can be divided into 3 types: 4-Cost, 3-Cost and 1-Cost. As a rule, the higher the “price” of a creature, the more powerful it will be.
Primary and Minor Echoes
In the “Echoes” section, your Resonator (character) has 5 slots that can be filled with absorbed monsters. The first and largest cell is intended for the main Echo. It will not only provide you with characteristics, but will also help you in battle thanks to its unique skills that you can use. These range from summoning a monster onto the battlefield, to transforming into another creature to deal extra damage.
The remaining four slots are intended for a secondary Echo, which will be needed to increase some parameters and unlock the Sonata Effect necessary for the hero. Although they are not directly involved in the battle itself, they are extremely necessary for constructing character builds.
Echoes are linked to the Data Bank
When interacting with Echos, you should remember the Data Bank. Leveling it up will not only increase your chances of getting an Echo, but it will also increase your Cost Limit, which determines what types of creatures you can use.
To increase the level of the Data Bank, you will have to absorb different types of Echoes. We advise you to raise its level as quickly as possible, at least until the 15th. The fact is that after this you will have the opportunity to absorb rank 5 monsters, which, when promoted, can have 5 secondary characteristics.
Echo cost
The chance of dropping Echoes of different “prices” depends on what enemies you are fighting:
- 1-Cost – can be obtained from normal enemies.
- 3-Cost – can be obtained from elite enemies.
- 4-Cost – can be obtained from bosses.
The cost of a creature is shown under its name. In the character's menu you can see the price limit for the “artifacts” that he can use at a given time. For example, in our case we are talking about the number “8”. Thus, the heroine is currently able to carry no more than two Echoes costing 4 units.
Best Echo combinations by cost
The maximum cost limit at the moment is 12 units, so even if you want, you will not be able to equip your hero with 5 bosses. You will have to calculate the optimal strategy. Fortunately, players have already been able to identify it as part of beta testing, and it looks like this:
- Early Game: 4, 1, 1, 1, 1 or (Boss/Normal/Normal/Normal/Normal).
- Mid-game: 4, 3, 1, 1, 1 or (boss/elite/regular/regular, normal).
- Late game: 4, 3, 3, 1, 1 or (boss/elite/elite/regular/regular).
By following these instructions, you can optimize your character to get maximum bonuses from the mined creatures, and almost all the monsters you absorb can benefit.
Echo Characteristics in Wuthering Waves
Echo's parameters are divided into two groups: primary (2 pieces) and secondary (up to 5 pieces). The former are inherent in any absorbed Echo, and the latter are revealed only by creatures of a certain rarity.
Main characteristics
The second line in the main characteristics will always be fixed depending on the “price” of the creature. It looks like this:
- 1-Cost: Health (HP)
- 3-Cost: Strength (ATK)
- 4-Cost: Strength (ATK)
As for the first line in the main attributes, it is selected randomly and also depends on the cost of the “artifact”:
- 1-Cost: Attack Power%, Defense% and Health%
- 3-Cost: Attack Power%, Defense%, Health%, Energy Recovery% and Elemental Damage%
- 4-Cost: Attack Power%, Defense%, Health%, Critical Damage%, Critical Hit Chance% and Healing Bonus%
In this case, the value of the parameter depends on the rarity and level of creation: the rarer and more pumped up the Echo is, the higher this characteristic will be.
Minor Characteristics
Additional characteristics are unlocked only by tuning the Echo after increasing its level using the so-called Tuners. Echoes can have a maximum of 5 attributes, which will further increase their effectiveness. They also drop out randomly and can give the following bonuses:
- Attack (ATK)
- Health (HP)
- Defense (DEF)
- Attack% (ATK%)
- Health% (HP%)
- Defense% (DEF%)
- Energy Regen%
- Critical Hit Chance% (Crit Rate%)
- Critical Damage (Crit DMG%)
- Bonus to damage of basic attacks% (Basic Attack DMG Bonus%)
- Heavy Attack Damage Bonus% (Heavy Attack DMG Bonus%)
- Bonus to Resonance Skill Damage (Resonance Skill DMG Bonus%)
- Resonance Liberation DMG Bonus%
Depending on its rarity, an Echo can gain a certain number of secondary stats and be upgraded to a specific level. Keep this in mind before spending resources on less rare "artifacts".
Rarity | Number of sub-stats | Maximum level |
---|---|---|
Green (2 stars) | 0 | 10 |
Blue (3 stars) | 3 | 15 |
Purple (4 stars) | 4 | 20 |
Gold (5 stars) | 5 | 25 |
How to upgrade Echo
Level up
To do this, you can use special materials - Sealed Tubes. Increasing the level will allow you to increase the characteristics of the creature transmitted to the player. You will also have access to its configuration, that is, you will be able to get sub-stats.
If you wish, you can use already improved echoes to level up other creatures if you no longer need the first ones. However, you will only get 75% of the invested experience points from them, so think twice before spending them on upgrading other “artifacts”.
Unlocking advanced options
By Tuning Echoes, you can unlock random secondary attributes from them, which will increase their effectiveness. This process has two features:
- You can only customize creatures of the second rarity (blue) and higher.
- Once configured, you will not be able to reset received sub-stats.
You can tune Echoes using tuners that can be found while exploring the world or received as a reward for completing the Tacet Field challenges.
Sonata effects in Wuthering Waves
Sonata effects refer to set bonuses that can be obtained when equipping a hero with Echoes of the same element. At the same time, the creatures themselves must be different, that is, you will not receive a bonus from the set if you use, for example, two Stonewall Bracers.
Buffs are issued for sets of 2 and 5 “artifacts” of the same element. In the first case, as a rule, one of the hero’s characteristics is simply increased, and in the second, he is endowed with a unique effect that can be useful in a given situation. As for the Phantom Echo, we are simply talking about additional skins for creatures that do not affect their parameters.

How to get Echoes in Wuthering Waves
Absorb Echoes after defeating enemies
To obtain “artifacts” you will need to fight various monsters and then absorb the shining silhouettes that they can leave behind. You will hear a characteristic sound if an Echo drops from an enemy. After that, you just need to go to the echo and click on the button that appears on the screen to get a new creature into your piggy bank.
However, opponents will not always leave behind echoes. The probability of them appearing depends on the level of the Data Bank, so do not forget to increase it. Also build effective routes for farming monsters - for this you can use the interactive world map, which shows the location of all Echoes.
Note that to obtain the most powerful types of Echoes from the Overlord and Calamity categories, you will need to fight bosses that spawn in the open world and special dungeons. Their spawn points are fixed, and they are reborn approximately 5-6 minutes after death.
Complete the Taset Fields
Tacet Fields are special areas where you must fight Tacet Discords for various rewards, including new Echoes. Moreover, most of the “artifacts” obtained in these zones are considered one of the most powerful.
Create new Echoes
You can use the Data Merge function to create new types of Echoes from creatures you already have. Most likely, over time, you will accumulate a lot of unnecessary “artifacts” that you can put under the knife to obtain more useful equipment.
Note that you can unlock this option after completing the SOL3 Phase Rank 3 Ascension quest. However, we recommend using it only after receiving the 15th level of the Data Bank, so that you can knock out 5-star monsters.
All Echoes in Wuthering Waves
As is the case with artifacts in Genshin Impact, in Wuthering Waves it is impossible to single out one or even several universal and most powerful types of Echoes, since different sets of equipment are required for different characters. Therefore, we will present a list with all the varieties of Echoes present in the game and indicate which characters they are best suited for.
Note: So far there is no information on suitable heroes, since the game has only recently been released and more time is needed to test all the combinations from Echo and characters.
