Quests in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree: how to start and find NPCs

In the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion for Elden Ring are also present character side quests, the completion of which is optional, but allows you to get unique equipment or items. However, they are not marked in any way on the map, and the game does not have the usual mission log, which significantly complicates their start and completion.

In this guide, we will indicate the location of all NPCs with which personal missions are associated. Plus, we will provide links to detailed walkthroughs of their personal assignments. Note that the storylines of some characters are closely intertwined with each other. Plus, they might have a slight impact on the main DLC line. We also advise you to keep before your eyes interactive map of the Shadowfell.

Quest Rogovesta

Where to find Rogovest

Rogovest is located next to the save point "The Cross of Three Roads". If you talk to him, he will talk about the sad fate of his people, and also that Michella the Magnanimous promised to help take revenge on those who were involved in this.

Talk to Rogovest again and he will give you a Map with a Cross and encourage you to follow Mikella. A detailed walkthrough of this task can be found in separate guide.

Quest of the Old Woman-horn

Where to find the Old Woman Hornwest

You can find her in Belurat, behind a locked door in the storeroom, where she spends all her days praying to the Sacred Lions, hoping to finally take revenge on her offender.

You can get to Belurat from the travel point "The Cross at the Main Gate". Just go straight up the stairs to the northwest until you reach the room with the scorpions, follow the stairs up and take the exit. At the end, on the left near the large doors you will see the first blessing of this location "Belurat, settlement near the tower".

From there, turn right to the southeast and you will come out into a small square with a fountain. Here, take the next lane, go to the end, and soon you will see a door arch on the left. Enter the room and go upstairs until you reach the closest point to the Horned Old Woman - "Small private altar".

From this point, exit the room and turn left, where there will be two shadows. Walk forward along the bridge until you see a locked door.

To find the key to it, from the same grace follow straight to the northwest exit. Climb up the stairs and, before reaching the cliff, turn right. Follow the shadow-infested alley to the top of a small waterfall.

Turn right and enter the room. Go up the stairs and on the corpse at the exit you can pick up storage room key, in which the Old Woman-horned woman is located.

Return to the locked door, open it and you will see an Old Woman on the right. At the first conversation, she will mistake your character for a minion of Mesmer the Impaler, shower him with curses and refuses to talk. A detailed walkthrough of her assignment can be read in separate guide.

Quest Thiolier

Where to find Thiolier

To start Thiolier's quest, you need to find him at Grace "Cross by the road with columns". You can find this point by moving from the “Cross of Three Roads” travel point to the northwest across the bridge over the Ellak River until you reach the “Front of the Castle” teleport.

From there, move first southeast until you reach a fork, take the left path and go forward until you see the grace of the “Cross by the Columned Road” and Thiolier sitting in the distance.

Talk to him. He will tell you that he deals with poisons, and then there will be an opportunity to trade with him. A detailed walkthrough of his assignment can be read in separate guide.

Saint Trina's Quest

Where to find Holy Trina

Saint Trina is in a hidden location Purple Garden, which is located on the south coast. How to find a coastal map if you have not yet opened it is described in detail in this article. Reach the point of grace "Cote d'Azur" and head south, passing the Death Dragon. When you reach the cliff, turn right and follow the path with glow worms until you see a giant. Walk forward, keeping to the right, until you notice a huge rift.

Go down the rocks deep into the rift, reaching a point "Fault". Go forward into the cave, exit into a huge dungeon and find a new save point "Crack in the stone sarcophagus".

Continue southeast until you reach a rock that should collapse under your feet.

Moving northeast you will find the next point "Cross in the Rift". Continue further from this teleport point, going down. Head northeast, being careful of the stone birds and worms. Stay north until you reach the next save point "Halt in the Rift".

Having touched grace, move on, the road will be linear, and you are unlikely to get lost. On the way, the enemy Bastard Warrior will be waiting for you, after defeating whom you will receive a new prayer "Multi-layered rings of light", causing continuous damage to enemies.

Going east you will see another point "Depth of the Rift", around which animals will sleep. Go up the huge stairs and you will soon reach a spirit and a statue of a huge horned head. Don't be afraid and jump down from it.

This will take you to the Violet Garden. You need to fight the next boss - A rotting knight. There will be a sign nearby to summon Thiolier to help you in battle, but only if you talked to him before you went looking for Saint Trina.

After destroying the knight, a teleport will open "Purple Garden". Go further into the small cave and you will see Saint Trina. If you don't find Thiolier there, while away your time at the grace and return back. Thiolier will lie not far from her, deep in sleep. Igon's Quest

Where to find Egon

Dragon Knight named Egon, can be found next to grace "Stop by the road with columns", which can be reached from the point "Front of the Castle", if you follow the southeast of the location.

If you look towards the west from the point of grace “Halt near the road with columns”, you will see Egon lying on the ground and screaming in pain.

To start his quest, you just need to talk to him. After this, his location will be marked with a marker on your map. A detailed walkthrough of his assignment can be read in separate guide.

Quest of the Priestess of the Dragon Sacrament

Where to find the Priestess of the Dragon Sacrament

From Igon, continue southwest along the road with the dragon statues until you see a sign "Ancient Dragon Man Begins Invasion". Fight him and follow further south, straight along the road, at the end turning left you will see a cave and a new travel point "Dragon Pit".

Move down the cave until you reach a cliff and a message "Be brave, don't be afraid" . Jump down into the huge pit and enter the fog where you will fight a boss "Ancient Dragon Man", which will be many times more difficult than the previous one.

After the battle is over, you will receive an item "Dragon Hunter's Great Katana", who has a special skill for destroying huge dragons. After the battle is over, exit through the double doors and you'll see another Grace Point ahead "Last stop in the dragon pit".

Follow forward east and go down to a small lake with a dragon. You can leave it for later or skip it altogether. Go south across the lake with the dragon and follow the only road that will lead straight to Throne of the Dragon Communion with the point of grace of the same name.

Moore's Quest

Where to find Moore

For the first time you can meet this merchant near the place of grace "The Cross at the Main Gate", located near the passage to Belurat, a settlement near the tower. You can go here almost at the very beginning of the expansion after entering the Plain of Tombstones. The merchant will be sitting next to the boxes. Freya's Quest

Where to find Freya

Once you reach the new region, find a piece of the map of the Plain of Tombstones and head to the place of grace “Cross of Three Roads”. Here you will find Freya, a woman in golden armor. Ansbach's Quest

Where to find Ansbach

You can find him in the same place as Freya. If Ansbach is not there, then go to the "Cross at the Main Gate". As with Freya, you need to talk to him several times to exhaust all of his dialogue. Leda's Quest

Where to find Leda

Once in Shadow Altus, continue north until you reach the Cross by the Road bliss. Near him you will find Leda - talk to her several times until she runs out of all dialogue. A detailed walkthrough of her assignment can be read in separate guide.

Quilaine's Quest

Where to find Quiline

You can first encounter the Fire Knight in Belurath, a tower settlement located in the northwestern part of the Tombstone Plain. Get to a place of grace "Small private altar" and exit through the passage in the northwest, and then go up the steps to reach the ruins.

Next, turn right and start moving northeast until you go down the stairs and find yourself in a small area with a gnarled tree growing in the center. As soon as you approach him, Quiline will immediately invade your world and a battle with him will begin. This enemy is quite good at wielding a heavy piercing sword with fire damage, so be careful.

Ymir's Quest

Where to find Ymir

You can find it in the Manus Metir Cathedral, located near the village of Bonni. Once inside, go to the throne on which Count Ymir will sit. Chat with him and he will give you your first assignment. A detailed walkthrough of his assignment can be read in separate guide.

Yolana's Quest

Where to find Yolana

You can find the Night Swordswoman in the same location as Ymir, that is, in the Manus Metir Cathedral. She will appear here after the first conversation with the Count. She will stand near the column, leaning against it. A detailed walkthrough of her assignment can be read in separate guide.

Dane Dryleaf's quest

Where to find Dane Dryleaf

The first meeting with Dane will take place near the Murtagh Ruins save point. When interacting with him, he will remain silent. In order to move the storyline with Dane off the ground, you need to move to the “Cross by the Road” teleport. Nearby you will find a note from a monk and a “May the best man win” gesture.
