In Hogwarts Legacy The centaur and the stone is side mission and part of the quest chain of Poppy Dobring, a possible companion of the hero from Hufflepuff. As part of it, you have to explore the burial ground, find a moonstone and solve several puzzles. If you're having trouble accepting and completing this mission, check out our guide.

Passage of the quest "Centaur and Stone"

    How to start a task

    • Recommended level: not lower than 29th.
    • Requirements: Complete the story quest "In the Shadow of the Mountain" and the secondary mission "An Unexpected Encounter".

After completing the above conditions, you should receive an owl with a letter from Poppy, who wants to meet you near the entrance to the cave, located near the village of Irondale (Feldcroft region).

So, move to the indicated point of the flying flame, and then move southwest to the quest marker. Of course, the fastest way to do this is with brooms. If you arrived here at night, then stand in a circle to wait for the arrival of a friend. Then talk to her. She will tell you about the search for the moonstone.

    Explore the Moonstone Garden

Before entering this burial ground, the entrance to which is located very close, we advise you to prepare well, as inside you will have to fight with various toperoy, which can cause considerable damage. Stock up on potions and prepare combat spells.

So, after going inside, go down the stairs and destroy the door on the left with bombards or Confringo, but don't go there just yet. Instead, turn right and use the Accio to reach a chest with a piece of equipment. You can jump over the stone block and go into the room on the right to get some coins and materials.

Now go into the opened passage on the left and continue down. In the new room, you will be attacked by Fluffy Toperoy. We advise you to use Crucio or Glacius against her for a stun, and Incendio or Confringo for damage.

How to get to the legendary chest

After dealing with the enemy, go to the right and destroy the cobblestone obstacle with the help of Depulso. Head into the new room and you'll find an insect-shaped mechanism designed to raise the platform. To make it work, you need a moth.

Go back to the round room where you fought the Toper. You will see vines blocking the passage - burn them with any fire spell. Behind the vines you will find a moth. Use Lumos to bring the insect to the device. Then use Depulso on it to raise the platform in the round room.

Climb onto this platform, and from it jump to the ledge on which you will find huge chest with legendary equipment.

How to open the gate (moths)

Now break the second door on the left side and go forward through the tunnel. You will find yourself in a spacious room with a chest and coins. Go to the next cave by jumping over the stone block. Going even lower, you will reach a new round room with niches - use the Accio to collect coins and other materials. Then go up the stairs on the left.

You will reach a large hall where you will need to open a lattice gate using two insect mechanisms. To do this, you will have to look for moths again, correctly pulling out the columns with the help of Accio.

Standing with your back to the exit from the room, turn the camera to the left and pull two blocks towards you in the order shown in the screenshot below. As a result, a niche will open in the far corner, where you will find first moth - bring it to the device with Lumos to activate.

Again, stand with your back to the exit from the hall and turn the camera to the right, and then pull the first block towards you (shown in the first screenshot below). Next, turn left and pull out the first block (demonstrated in the second screenshot below). As a result, a niche will open on the right with second moth - bring it to the second mechanism using Lumos.

Now start rotating the insect devices with Depulso, thus opening the grilles. However, do not rush to go forward, as you can get another chest in the hall. To do this, pull out the second block from the right side and the first block from the left. Thus, the stone slab will move off, and you can pick up the treasures.

    How to restore the bridge

Pass through the opened passage, and you will find a failure ahead. To overcome it, you need to create a bridge. There will also be two insect devices. Return to the previous room and with the help of Lumos bring the moths to the mechanisms, and then spin them using Depulso.

You will create a bridge, however the door ahead will still be closed. Before you start unlocking it, we advise you to carefully study the location. Jump into the water and dive into the whirlpool shown in the image below. You will enter a secret area. Walk forward and turn left at the fork to open a chest. Then enter the right passage.

When you find yourself at the second fork, go forward, destroying the Depulso barrier. Open the chest in the water cave, go back and now turn right. You will enter a spacious flooded area with toperoys. Deal with opponents and inspect the location in search of chests. Then go through the hole in the wall and go upstairs.

    How to open the door

Climbing up, you will see a large chest on the right, and a chain on the left, which you need to pull Accio towards you in order to open a passage leading to the beginning of the dungeon. Return to the bridge and start hitting Depulso on the distant mechanism to raise the pillar with the moth - grab it with Lumos and bring it to the door.

Now take the moths from the two devices on the sides and also lead them to the door in order to open it. Go to the new room and deal with two Crazy Toperok there.

    Where to find moonstone

Next, run to the water, swim to the chest, and then dive near the whirlpool. You will surface in another cave. Move to the shore, and then head to the tree on the hill. To do this, go to the right and destroy the Confringo ivy. Then climb onto the ledge and pick up the scientist's Moonstone in the hollow of the tree.

After that, you will need to talk to Poppy again. You can either stay to further explore the location, or leave here. In the second case, you will be immediately teleported to the standing stones. Approach them and insert the scientist's moonstone.

A new cut-scene will begin, in which you will see calves who will perform an unusual dance. Now you can pick up the moonstone and talk to your companion again. This task will come to an end. As a reward, you will receive 180 experience points.
