How the guarantor works in Genshin Impact: calculations for actual banners

In Genshin Impact the guarantor is a special system that allows you to get a 5-star rating with a 100% probability character or weapons through a certain number of Prayers. In this guide, we'll walk you through how this mechanism works, as well as list the banners that work.

In the section with banners, we will also indicate the number of spins and source stones required to obtain certain heroes and weapons. This will allow you to roughly calculate your costs.

How the guarantor system works

This is about the number of Prayers that you need to "say" during the gacha before you are guaranteed to drop a character or weapon with a rarity of 4 or 5 stars. However, there is always a chance of getting these things without reaching the corresponding number.

Number of Prayers for a guaranteed drop:

• 4-star weapon - 10 attempts
• 4-star character - 10 tries
• 5-star weapon - 80 attempts
• 5 star character - 90 tries

This means that if after the 9th prayer you still haven't received a 4-star gear or a hero, then on the 10th attempt you are guaranteed to get a drop with a rarity of 4 stars or higher.

This also applies to rarer items - if after the 89th prayer (79th for weapons) you still have not received a 5-star equipment or fighter, then your next attempt with a 100% chance will bring you a 5-star drop.

How to determine the number of attempts before the guarantor

You do not need to write down the information about all the characters and weapons you receive, as it can be viewed in the banner menu in the "History" section. This page shows all the dropped 4- and 5-star items, so you can easily calculate how many prayers you have left to complete the prayers to get the desired hero or equipment.

Note: Each banner has its own guarantor counter (read more about this below), so you can select the required prayer at the top of the screen.

Soft guarantor

While the base chance of getting a 5-star character is 0.6%, players have discovered a hidden guarantor system called soft guarantor that increases this chance after a certain number of tries. After the 75th spin in the event and standard banner, the 0.6% chance will gradually increase until it reaches 100% at the 90th draw, that is, starting from the 75th try, you will have an increased chance of getting a 5-star hero. The same applies to the "Incarnation of the Deity" banner, although the soft guarantee starts around the 65th spin in it.

The 50/50 Rule: Dropping Random Characters and Weapons

When you get a 4 and 5 star hero or weapon, there is a 50% chance that it will be a character or equipment that is not related to the banner you are praying for. This situation is called the 50/50 rule.

If you did not receive the items and fighters indicated in the banner, then they are guaranteed to drop out to you at the next guarantor. In this case, a new countdown will be carried out after the soft guarantor.

An illustrative example: if you started spinning the banner on Kazuha, but on the 40th try you suddenly get Diluca, then you will need to perform 90 spins again to have a 100% chance to get a samurai ronin or the target character of the next banner (if the banner with Kazuha ended) .

It is impossible to calculate the number of attempts before the soft guarantee drops, since the probability of getting a 4-star drop is only 5.1 percent, and a 5-star drop is 0.6 percent.

Banner counters and guarantor transfer

Each of the 3 banners (Character Event Mondstadt: Blessing, Weapon Event Mondstadt: Blessing, and Standard Mondstadt: Blessing) has its own guarantor counter. It resets when you receive a 4 or 5 star rarity drop.

Note: This rule does not apply to "Beginner's Prayer", which disappears from the banner list after the 20th attempt. But on its base is built reroll method, which allows you to get a 5-star hero at the very beginning of the game.

If a temporary banner on a hero or weapon expires, its counter is transferred to the next event banner. Let's say you spent 69 prayers to get Klee, but did not have time to get it, since the Mondstadt: Blessing for Kazuha began. In this case, you will not need to start all over again, that is, the samurai-ronin is guaranteed to drop already on the 21st attempt (unless a soft guarantee occurs).

Let's add that you don't have to spin one banner consecutively for the guarantor system to work, since attempts for each of them are counted separately. Getting a rare character or weapon in one of them resets the counter only in it, without affecting the others.

Guarantor in Prayer Character Events II

After the release of Update 2.3, the Character Event Mondstadt: Blessing II appeared in the game. We are talking about another temporary banner that exists simultaneously with the first. 5-star heroes are different in them, but 4-star ones are the same.

The features of these two banners include:

• They have a general statistics of completed prayers.
• The number of guaranteed attempts for them is calculated simultaneously, that is, if you made 40 spins in the 1st banner, then on the 50th spin of the 2nd banner you are guaranteed to get a 5-star hero (if you didn’t get it earlier).
• If the “soft guarantor” works on the 1st banner, it is transferred to the 2nd banner as well.

Thus, in order to calculate the time for obtaining a legendary hero, it is now necessary to add the prayers of both banners. The developers, by introducing the second Prayer, simply gave the players more choice so that they can decide for themselves which 5-star character is more interesting to them at a given time.

Guarantor for weapons in the banner "The Incarnation of the Divine"

With the release of Update 2.0, the weapon banner in the game has slightly changed, which received an expanded guarantor system. With it, players can now target one of the two legendary weapons featured in the Temporal Prayer.

For example, if you get another weapon while spinning, the game will give you 1 Fate point. The maximum you can get is 2 Fate points. If equipped, the next 5-star weapon will have a 100% chance to be targeted. Here are a few rules for how this mechanic works:

• The guarantor is reset when the target 5-star weapon drops.
• Fate Points are not issued if the required course has not been selected in the Path of Incarnation.
• The guarantor is reset if the selected weapon is changed or the course is completely canceled.
• Fate Points are reset to zero if the current period of the "Incarnation of the Deity" ends.

Let's explore how this mechanic works based on the course shown in the image above. If during the spin you do not get Skyward Pride, then you will be given 1 Fate point. If you get another 5-star weapon for the second time, you will already accumulate 2 Fate points. After that, your 3rd legendary weapon drop will be 100% Skyward Pride.

As part of it, the probability of falling Shogun Raiden Shogun, which belongs to the Electro element and uses pole weapons in battle, is increased. Thanks to her abilities, she can amplify the explosions of the elements of allies and restore their energy.

As part of it, the drop rate of Sangonomiya Kokomi is increased, which belongs to the Hydro element and uses a catalyst in battle. Thanks to her abilities, she can not only heal her allies, but also deal quite a lot of damage and permanently inflict Hydro status on enemies.
