In Genshin Impact Fontaine, added in patch 4.0, can be accessed in a number of ways. Some of them are story related, while others allow you to get to the Hydro region much earlier. In this guide, we'll go over each method so you can choose the one that's best for you.
How to get to Fontaine
The first way: according to the plot
The simplest, but at the same time long method. To use it, you will need to complete the Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma and Sumeru quest chains by fulfilling the following conditions:
- Reach at least Adventure Rank 40. We have given some useful recommendations on how to increase it in separate material.
- Complete the Archons quest called "Caribert", which is the sixth chapter of the third Thoma.
After that, you should have access to the task "Prelude of white dews and black waves". At the very beginning, you will go to the Caravan Ribat, and from there you can go straight to the port of Romarin, located in Fontaine, where you will meet Lini. Next, get to the capital on the aquabus and simply activate the first teleporter that caught your eye or the statue of the seven archons, so that you can then move to a new area at any time.
The second way: swim to Fontaine on your own
But what about the beginners who have at their disposal characters that require Fontaine's local curiosities ? Fortunately, unlike Inazuma, you can get to this region almost at the very beginning of the game, and you don’t even have to travel huge distances for this.
First of all, you will need to complete the Archon quest called "Song of the Dragon and Freedom". After that, a teleport is automatically unlocked in the northeastern part of the kingdom of Farahkert, moving to which will take you to the border between Sumeru and Fontaine.
Next, go down to the shore and call on the Wavewalker, using the anchorage. Start sailing towards the Hydro region. However, you will surely notice that this kingdom is located on a high continental shelf, that is, to begin with, you will have to overcome a huge waterfall. Fortunately, this is not very difficult to do - move to the port of Romarin, enter the tower and take the elevator up.
Then summon the aquabus, get on it and get to Cours-de-Fontaine by a wide aqueduct. Activate the nearest teleporter or statue of the seven archons so that you can instantly move to the desired area in the future.
These are the two main ways in which you will be able to get into Fontaine in Genshin Impact without any problems. Perhaps in the future there will be new routes to this area, such as through Liyue.
