    All endings of Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom liberty: how to open and choose the best ending

    Fenthick

    The long-awaited role-playing shooter from a renowned developer in 2020 had great hopes from the gaming community. Cyberpunk 2077 came out a little damp, not without flaws, but a full-fledged AAA project. Three years later, an addition was released - with new story content, the results of which will be discussed in our article. In this guide we will look at all possible endings Phantom liberty and also a new, alternative ending for the original game.

    What do the endings in Cyberpunk 2077 depend on?

    In order to consistently see all possible endings, loading from key checkpoints, the player needs to understand the location of the points of no return on each of the possible lines.

    Important: The following material contains many plot spoilers and examines the endings according to their understanding by the author. If you want to initially form your own opinion about the plot of the add-on, you can limit yourself to the basic information that the first fork occurs in the “Judgment Day” task, the second - in “The Fading Star” or “Gaze into the Abyss” (depending on the choice of the first path).

    The first opportunity to significantly influence the plot of the addon will be in the mission "Judgment Day", when after talking with Hansen at the stadium you go down with Jay to the laboratory to start hacking. The quest objective will change to "Connect to main server" and in the next dialogue you will have to make a choice that will direct further events according to one of two scenarios where V will take someone’s side: Jay or Reed. Further events will follow completely different tasks, splitting into two separate branches:

    Help Jay escape

    Selecting "Help Jay escape", you will take Somi's support line, which will lead to the next fork in the mission "Fading Star". In this case, Alex will kill Colonel Hansen and remain alive.

    Next, when you infiltrate the maglev station and decide "Get to the control tower with Jay" in the task "Fading Star" We also recommend making an additional save. After defense at the checkpoint and subsequent trip to the spaceport, you will be able to obtain the following results:

    • "King of Wands" – Kill Reed and send Jay to the Moon;
    • "King of Swords" – Transfer Jay to the US in exchange for medicine;
      • Refuse medication (secret ending);
      • Opens the "Tower" - An alternate ending to the original game, where V gets healed.

    The names of the finals are the same as the achievements that each of them unlocks.

    Help Reed capture Jay

    Deciding to "Help Reed capture Jay" V and Reed will pursue the girl to the next point of no return in the mission. "Gaze into the Abyss" at the stage "Return to Core Control Center". This choice also leads to Alex's death at the hands of Hansen and subsequent fight with the latter. Endings will become available here:

    • "King of Cups" – Kill Jay
    • "King of Pentacles" – Leave Somi alive and hand over to the US.
      • "Tower" – the same ending for Cyberpunk 2077 that opens in “King of Swords”.

    Phantom liberty main endings

    King of Wands

    • For getting:
      • On Judgment Day, escape from the stadium with Jay;
      • In Fading Star, kill Reed.

    This ending becomes available when you, against all odds, consistently side with Jay in each of the two possible forks. In this case, when confronting Reed in the finale, you must shoot him when the dialogue ends and he takes out a weapon, or do it immediately, without waiting for the end of the conversation.

    The only alternative is the transfer of Somi. Reed is too principled and will not back down, so refusing or insulting him will result in him trying to shoot you. You can only manage to do it faster than him. Or give Jay.

    After this, V will put the girl on a shuttle, which will take her to a clinic on the Moon. There is someone waiting for her who can carry out the necessary manipulations for healing.

    And although after some time you will receive an ambiguous hint that Jay is alive (in the mission "Signal from Space" ), there are still reasons to consider this ending uncertain. The girl’s condition casts doubt on her ability to survive the flight, which Reed also mentions. In contrast, FRU neurosurgeons are ready to fight for her life “here and now.” The motives and competencies of the lunar clinic are absolutely unknown to us; in this part we rely only on the illusory hope of Jay, and she seems ready to run away from the “guys in jackets” even to hell.

    However, other endings also have a high degree of uncertainty. The writers hint that even in the game we can only choose decisions, but not their consequences.

    King of Swords

    • For getting:
      • On Judgment Day, escape from the stadium with Jay
      • In "Fading Star" Give Jay to the US in exchange for healing, or refuse the medicine

    Similar to the previous option, this scenario is available when escaping from the stadium with Somi. At the next fork in Fading Star, you must either call Reed from the train after the girl admits to deception, or give him the netrunner during the final confrontation. Both of these options affect only the dialogues; the subsequent plot is the same.

    But you can transfer the girl to the agency with different results for V, which depends on the chosen line in the dialogue with Reed, after you make a decision “Put the weapon away. | Take her".

    "Help me save my life"

    Having exchanged the girl’s freedom for a chance to be healed, you will hear the spy’s assurances that you will still get the treasured medicine, and that other methods of healing will be found for Jay. Subsequently, you will actually get what was promised in the “Tower” scenario, which is an alternative to the endings of the original Cyberpunk 2077 and is framed as separate tasks. It is discussed below in the corresponding section.

    We will not be told any details about Somi’s future in The King of Swords; we will only receive a couple of evasive phrases from Reed that his former ward is gradually getting better and, as punishment, she will soon return to service. I wonder, as who? A controlled window into the “black barrier”?

    “Just take her. I need nothing."

    After choosing this option, V decides to leave Jay along with the medicine in the hands of FRU. As in the previous case, nominally Alex, Reed and Jay remain alive (the latter, perhaps, with the maximum chance of healing), and V continues to search for a cure, heading towards the standard endings of the game.

    King of Cups

    • For getting:
      • On Judgment Day, try to capture Jay by choosing Reed's side.
      • In the mission "Gaze into the Abyss" fulfill the girl's last request and help her die

    The first fork in Judgment Day, where you choose Reed's side, leads to Alex's death at the hands of the Colonel. And you will also have to fight him yourself when evacuating from the stadium. Having reached the core in the Militech laboratory, you will find an escaped and already completely exhausted Jay. Driven into a corner, she asks V to help her commit suicide, and in fact, kill her - so great is her desire to break free from the control of the secret service.

    Fulfilling her request will result in V's subsequent dismissal from FRU service with a severance pay of 5,000 Eurodollars and a "medal of honor", but will also leave him without a cure. As a result of this finale, the deaths of Alex and Somi are on V and Reed’s conscience, and the chance for healing with the help of the neuromatrix is also lost.

    King of Pentacles

    • For getting:
      • On Judgment Day, try to capture Jay by choosing Reed's side.
      • In the mission "Gaze into the Abyss" do not help Somi die, instead hand her over to the agency

    After Alex’s death at the stadium, having reached the next fork in the final dialogue in the Militech core, you need to refuse to end Jay’s life several times, after which Reed will come to you and together you will deliver the living girl to the president’s helicopter. As a result, V gets access to an alternate ending to the original game, in which he will be healed - just like in The King of Swords. But only the latter allows you to leave Alex alive too, which makes it a more “profitable” ending from a utilitarian point of view, if you still want to transfer Jay to the agency.

    Other endings of Phantom liberty

    The simplest ending

    The easiest way to finish Phantom Liberty is to literally not start the walkthrough. It looks like a joke, but the corresponding scenario is actually provided by the authors. If you receive a task to save the president in "Unknown Land" and then take your time to start doing the following - "Last Flight", after some time the hero will receive a scolding from his partner, and the continuation of the events of the add-on will become impossible, it will simply end as soon as it has begun.

    Voluntary withdrawal from the game

    At the very end of the mission "Sleeper Agent", in which V will contact Solomon Reed, realizing that all serious work and the risks associated with it will fall on the shoulders of the mercenary, you can refuse further participation in the operation by choosing "You are right. I am leaving the game".

    New "Tower" ending for Cyberpunk 2077

    As we detailed above, the new ending for the original game becomes available only when V returns Jay to the caring hands of the government ( "King of Pentacles" And "King of Swords" ). This ending directly continues the events of the expansion and is impossible without it, but since it is a replacement for the rest of the game's endings, it should be taken as a direct alternative. Let's look at the events of this outcome.

    Quiet life

    You will be taken to this quest after one of two possible missions:

    Soon after parting, Reed will get in touch and report that the operation has been prepared and all you have to do is arrive at the right place and contact certain people. You can choose to follow this path or stop and refuse medical intervention - this will please Johnny, because he will stay with you and hope for another possible way to separate your personalities in the future.

    No one is waiting for a mercenary

    Having agreed to the operation in the previous quest, you will wake up in your room after two long years. Reed is sitting by the bed - he was the first to arrive when you woke up. All this long time, doctors tried to achieve results by rebuilding the mercenary’s nervous system, which ultimately led to long-awaited success, but with some peculiarities. Now V cannot use implants, which automatically puts an end to his entire previous “career.” In the hope of changing something, you will go through old contacts, but even Victor (the ripper, not without whose help V’s adventures began) will confirm that now you can only come to terms with your new condition and begin an ordinary life. A simple quiet life as an alternative to gradually dying out in the glow of the flame.
