World level in Genshin Impact: how to level up and down

In Genshin Impact the level of the world is an important parameter, which often determines the power of monsters and the value of the rewards given out. It can be raised or lowered. This guide will show you how. We will also tell you what exactly this indicator affects, and to what value it should be increased.

What is the world level for?

This parameter, With You with the adventure rank, shows the progress of the player. These values are closely interconnected with each other, since the first increases only with the growth of the second, and vice versa. In this case, many elements of the game depend on the level of the world, namely:

• The strength of ordinary and elite enemies, as well as bosses.
• Rewards for destruction bosses, performing daily errands, cleansing the arteries of the earth, and so on.
• Opening new tasks for the Archons, legends and the world, and meetings.
• Talent, Weapon, and Hero Ascension Limits are changing.

In short, the higher your world level, the stronger the monsters will become and the more valuable the rewards will become. Thus, the developers do not allow players to relax and encourage them to further upgrade their characters.

World Level Up Benefits

The table below shows all eight levels of the Genshin Impact world, the adventure ranks at which they become available, the restrictions on leveling characters and weapons, as well as the main bonuses from increasing this parameter.

After reaching a certain adventure rank, it will stop growing until you level up the world. At the same time, access to various content depends on this indicator:

Note: If you choose not to level up the world, the experience will continue to accumulate, but the Adventure Rank will not increase. When you decide to finally increase the corresponding parameter, the accumulated adventure points will immediately increase your rank.

Note that from adventure rank not only access to different types of dungeons depends, but also the opening of their different stages of difficulty, in which more valuable rewards drop out. In addition, the level of the world is important for co-op. The fact is that you can only join those players who have this parameter either equal to or lower than your value.

How to level up the world

We have already noted above that this indicator directly depends on the rank of adventures, that is, after pumping the latter to a certain value, you will be able to increase the level of the world. This is done either through a normal conversation with Katerina (you need to approach her and pick up the reward), or by clearing the dungeon.

In the very first table at the top of the article, we have already indicated the levels of the world and the ranks of adventures on which they open, as well as ways to increase. Let's take a closer look at the method associated with the passage of the dungeon. So, having received the required rank, head to the guild and enter into a dialogue with Katerina. Then select the option "Adventure Rank Rewards" .

You will see a padlock icon between two rank numbers. Click on it to learn more about leveling up the world. Click on the caption "Assignment help" to start the Adventure Rank Up quest. Select it in the quest log to track.

In these tasks you will need to go to Dungeon "Midsummer Courtyard " located in Stargazer's Rock and complete the Ascend: Clear the Ruins Achievement: Challenger. The battles here are not very difficult, as the opponents always correspond to the level of your squad.

The picture below shows how much experience you will need to earn to advance to the next Adventure Rank. This information allows you to roughly calculate the amount of "exp" needed to move to a higher level of the world.

Do I need to level up the world

Above, we examined in detail the benefits of increasing this parameter, but there are certain nuances. The fact is that almost all the story and secondary tasks in the game, as well as most of its mechanics, open up to the 35th adventure rank.

Thus, if you just want to enjoy exploring Teyvat, complete missions and participate in various events, then for now it will be enough for you to open 4th level of the world.

If you want to max out your characters and weapons by clearing dungeons on the highest difficulty and fighting high-level bosses, then you will have to open, at a minimum, 7th level of the world.

How to lower the level of the world

If the bosses have become too strong or you cannot complete any task, then it makes sense to reduce the level of the world. This feature appeared in the game after the release of update 1.4. It has a number of features:

• Access to this option will appear only after reaching the 5th level of the world. Up to this point, you will have to deal with enemies the old fashioned way.
• You can only go down one level, that is, if you had the 7th, then you will return to the 6th.
• You can lower the level of the world any number of times and stay on it for as long as you like. However, it is allowed to change this indicator only once a day, so it will be possible to restore it only after 24 hours.

Downgrading the world is pretty easy. You just need to open the Paimon menu and click on the icon to the right of the "World Level" inscription. A new window will immediately open with the option to "Lower world level". Just click on it and the parameter will immediately decrease. There will also be a function to restore this indicator.

Consequences of lowering the World Level

Enemies and bosses will become weaker, but your characters will not be weakened, and the Adventure Rank will remain the same. In addition, all open dungeons will remain available for clearing. Plus, you can still level up your characters. However, it will not do without negative aspects - they are all associated with the awards given out (there will be less of them). Thus, you will need to make a decision about downgrading the world based on current goals and objectives. We advise you to reduce it when you can't complete some difficult world task, for example, "The Chi of Yore" or kill elite bosses.
