In Genshin Impact Neuvillette is 5 star character, which relates to the Hydro element and uses a catalyst in battle. In a squad, he is capable of playing the role of the main damage dealer in the hypercarry position. In this guide you will learn about his best builds, weapons and artifacts, as well as the most optimal teams for him.
Main features of Neuvillette
How to get Nevillet
In the first phase of update 4.1, this catalyst will appear in banner, which will increase the likelihood of it falling out. In the future, it will be possible to obtain this hero only with the help of Prayers. Unfortunately, HoYoverse has never held an event where the reward would be a 5-star fighter, so you definitely won’t be able to get Nevillet for free.
Nevillet Characteristics Progression
The table below shows how a character's base stats change as they level up.
Level | Base HP | Basic attack | Basic protection | Bonus to crit. damage | Crit chance hits | Crete. damage |

Advantages and disadvantages of Nevillet
Using his unique abilities, this character can inflict significant water damage to both single targets and large enemy groups. Its advantages also include:
- It has increased base HP, which simplifies its assembly, since the damage dealt depends mainly on this parameter.
- Capable of perfectly performing its function as a damage dealer even without opening Constellations; It is relatively easy to collect artifacts under it.
- His passive welcomes the use of characters of different elements in the team: Pyro, Cryo, Electro, Anemo, Geo and Dendro, since the reactions they create increase the damage from charged attacks, on which his gameplay is based. This makes it a little easier to assemble a pack for it.
- Does not require a healer on the team, since he can heal himself on his own.
- With elevation, his critical damage increases, which is extremely important for main damage dealers, so it simplifies the construction of his build - the main focus can be on increasing HP.
However, there were some downsides, namely:
- There are no Constellations that could radically affect Nevillet’s combat effectiveness (with the possible exception of C1), so the bonuses they provide do not cover the cost of opening them.
- He has a relatively low base attack, which makes him a little more difficult to use as a main damage dealer.
- If you don't have C1, you should definitely take a good shieldman or interrupt resistance buffer into your team, otherwise he will be constantly knocked down while performing charged attacks. The fact is that when using them, he becomes less mobile (he cannot use sprints and dashes).
- Although you can take characters of different elements into his team, they must meet one important condition - the ability to deal damage from the pocket, since Nevillet is a hypercarry, that is, he must be on the battlefield most of the time.
- F2P players may have problems selecting free catalysts, since only a few copies can fully unleash the potential of this hero.
Nevillet's abilities
When performing a normal attack "Like the surface of water" the character swings his cane, delivering waves of up to 3 hits in front of him. If attacked while falling, it accumulates water energy and lands on the ground, attacking all enemies in its path and then dealing elemental area damage.
By holding down the charged attack button, Nevillet will begin creating the Seal of Arbitration. In this mode, he begins to float half a meter above the ground, and he has the opportunity to collect Source Drops in a small radius, which speed up the activation of the seal and restore his health. If you stop loading before the arbitration is completed, the Achievement: Hero will immediately attack enemies in front of him with a stream of water, causing them Hydro damage in an area.
If the Seal of Arbitration is ready, the High Judge will perform the Weighted Judgment attack, where he will fire a continuous stream of water lasting 3 seconds at enemies ahead. If the hero's HP exceeds 50%, he will lose health when using this ability.
Explanation: You can ignore regular attacks, since you definitely won’t use them. Nevillet's main gameplay is based on the use of charged attacks, which for the first time in the game are scaled by HP, but only if you use Weighted Judgment, that is, you will have to charge the seal first, waiting about 4-5 seconds. But when using it, stamina is not consumed and there is no cooldown time, so you can use this attack almost endlessly.
You will only be interrupted to restore the hero's health, which is spent during an attack - to do this, you just need to collect Source Drops (created by E-shka and ult) when charging the seal. One drop will immediately restore 16% of your HP. Plus, three drops will be enough to instantly activate the Weighted Verdict. By the way, you can direct the Hydro beam not only to the right and left, but also up and down.
After using an elemental skill "Oh tears, I will repay" The Achievement: Hero deals Hydro damage to an area in front of him, the amount of which depends on his maximum health. Hitting nearby enemies creates 3 source drops. A Soul Breathing Needle also appears, dealing Pneuma damage.
Explanation: It deals relatively little damage, so its main purpose is to create drops (lay on the ground for 15 seconds) and charge an elemental explosion.
Elemental Burst "Oh waves, I have returned" makes it possible to release a powerful wave that deals Hydro damage in an area, the amount of which depends on the character’s HP. Then two showers appear, which also hit Hydro, but their radius of destruction is smaller. 6 drops of the source appear immediately nearby.
Explanation: Deals slightly more damage than E-shka, but still less than charged attacks. It is also necessary mainly for creating droplets that will allow you to restore 96% of Nevillet’s health at a time, giving him the opportunity to do without a healer in the team.
It is also impossible not to point out the extremely useful passive talents of the supreme judge:
- Gather Like Waves – Increases the underwater fast movement speed of all team members by 15%. Does not stack with other similar passives.
- Heir of the Ancient Sea - when using the reactions Steam, Charged, Elemental Reaction: Swirl, Elemental Reaction: Frozen, Budding, Elemental Reaction: Crystallize against an enemy, 1 stack of Dragons' Past Glory appears. There can be a maximum of 3 status levels, increasing the damage from a charged strike by 110%, 125% and 160% respectively. Each stack lasts half a minute.
- Discipline of the Supreme Arbiter - for every 1% of health over 30% of the maximum HP of the Hydro hero, damage increases by 0.6%. The maximum bonus can be 30%, which is given at 80% of Nevillet's health.
Nevilleta constellations
To open them, you need to accumulate the character’s Luck, which is issued when duplicates of the hero appear, which, of course, is random. Given the low chance of getting 5-star heroes, you will need to spend a lot of time and money to unlock all constellations. However, even without them, Nevillet can perfectly perform the function of the main damage dealer.
If you still decide to try your luck, then we recommend that you go for C1 and C2, which will increase resistance to interruption (you can no longer be knocked down) and increase the critical damage of Weighted Verdict (up to 42%). The rest of the constellations are also quite good, however, in our opinion, they are not worth the resources invested in them. Full list:
- Basis of Honor - immediately grants 1 level of Dragons' Past Glory and increases interruption resistance to 100% when using charged attacks.
- Command of the Law - Each stack of Dragons' Past Glory increases the critical damage dealt by Weighted Judgment by 14%. Maximum it can increase to 42%.
- Ancient fiction - the level of normal attacks increases by three. Maximum level: 15th. Increases the character's overall damage, but not as much as we would like.
- Crown of Compassion – When receiving healing from Nevillet, 1 drop of source appears. This effect can occur once every four seconds.
- The generally accepted verdict is that the level of the explosion of the elements increases by three. Maximum level: 15th.
- Wrathful Retribution - When using Weighted Verdict, the character continues to collect drops, and each of them increases the duration of the attack by 1 second. Plus, when hit, two more currents will appear every 2 seconds, causing Hydro damage in the total amount of 20% of the hero’s maximum health. Significantly increases Nevillet's damage, but the resources spent on opening it are not worth it.
How to play as Nevillet
Nevillet is a hypercarry that needs to be constantly on the battlefield to reach its full potential. In one person, he represents a whole mono Hydro squad, which is poorly suited for reactions, since his application is too frequent for closing Para and very rare for Budding with Nilou.
Why then keep three heroes of different elements on the team? This is all because of the “Heir of the Ancient Sea” passive, which gives a bonus to the damage of a charged attack. It should be noted that direct damage increases not by 110%, 125% and 160%, but by 10%, 25% and 60% depending on the level gained. At the same time, to gain 3 stacks, you need to cause 3 different elemental reactions with Hydro. Therefore, you can forget about resonances.
Reactions can be created both before and during Weighted Judgment, as the effect of each level of Dragon's Past Glory lasts half a minute, so you will have enough time to gain 3 stacks.
As for source drops, it is better to create them before using charged attacks, since they not only heal the hero, but also speed up the activation of the seal - three drops are enough to instantly apply Weighted Verdict. Thus, if you use E-Shka and Ultimate, causing 9 drops, you will be able to attack 3 times in a row with a continuous ring of water.
Given the above information, the rotation for Nevillet may look completely different and depend on the characters you have and the constellations you have unlocked. However, you can highlight one basic scenario, which you can then adapt to your packs. It is based on the fact that one stack of Dragons' Past Glory lasts for 30 seconds, and looks like this:
- Use the abilities of sub-dams and supports, acting from the pocket, to apply buffs to main-dealers, and different elemental statuses to enemies.
- Switch to Nevillet and activate his E-shka to get the first stack of passive and create three drops, which will allow you to immediately activate Weighted Judgment.
- When ready, use the High Judge's ultimate and perform two more long charged attacks.
- Use the skill and Weighted Judgment again, and then return to the first point.
At the same time, between attacks you can switch to other characters to trigger Hydro reactions and gain additional levels of passive talent to increase the damage from charged attacks. The drops will not allow you to die.
Best builds for Nevillet
Best weapon
When choosing a catalyst, priority should be given to those that increase health, critical damage and the chance of critical hits, as well as strengthen charged attacks, since you will mainly have to play from them. The table below presents the most interesting options.
Name and rarity | Characteristics (level 1-90) | Passive ability |
---|---|---|
Rite of Eternal Flow (5 stars) |
Base Attack: 44~542 Crete. damage: 19.2~88.2% |
Increases health by 16-32%. When the hero's current health increases or decreases, the damage from charged strikes increases by 14-30% for 4 seconds. The bonus can be stacked up to three times and appear no more than once every 0.3 seconds. In case of receiving 3 stacks or updating the duration of the 3rd stack, 8-12 units of energy are restored. The last effect can occur once every 12 seconds. A signature for Nevilleth that gives him everything he needs to significantly increase his overall damage, plus completely eliminates the need for the hero to increase Energy Recovery. If you have a choice between opening Constellations and knocking out weapons, then preference should be given to the second option. |
Sacrificial Jade (4 stars) |
Base Attack: 41~454 Crit chance hits: 8~36.8% |
Increases the hero's health by 32~64% and elemental mastery by 40~80 units if he is not on the battlefield for more than 5 seconds. After the character returns, the effect continues for 10 seconds and then disappears. It can be a good replacement for the signature, as it increases all the stats Nevillet needs. However, you will have to adjust the rotation to the passive timings. Plus, you can only get it from the Battle Pass. |
Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds (5 stars) |
Critical hit chance: 7.2%~33.1% Base Attack: 46~608 |
Increases the character's movement speed by 10% and increases his elemental damage by 8%~16% every four seconds. The effect can be stacked up to four times, but disappears if the hero leaves the battlefield. A less effective catalyst than the previous two, as it increases Nevillet's useless attack and does not increase his HP. However, it has a useful secondary characteristic and passive, so it can be given to the chief judge in the absence of alternatives. |
The Jadefall’s Splendor (5 stars) |
HP: 10.8~49.6% Base Attack: 46~608 |
When using an ult or applying a shield, the equipped Achievement: Hero receives the Willstone status for 3 seconds, during which 4.5 units of energy are restored every 2.5 seconds, and the damage bonus of the corresponding element increases by 0.3% for every thousand units of maximum health (maximum may increase by 12%). The effect occurs even if the character is in the pocket. In terms of overall damage, it is slightly inferior to the previous catalyst. Allows Nevillet to use his ultimate on cooldown, increases his health and increases elemental damage. |
Treasury Supervision (5 stars) |
Base Attack: 48~674 Crit chance hits: 4.8~22% |
Increases attack power by 16-32%. When the hero's current health increases or decreases, the damage from normal attacks increases by 16-32%, and from charged attacks - by 14-28%. The bonus can be stacked up to three times and appear no more than once every 0.3 seconds. In case of receiving 3 stacks, the attack speed increases by 8-16%. Increases the attack, which is useless for Nevillet, and increases the damage from ordinary attacks, which the Achievement: Hero will almost never use. But it increases the likelihood of crits and damage from charged attacks. Overall, it's an average catalyst for the Supreme Judge. |
Prototype Amber (4 stars) |
HP: 9~41.3% Base Attack: 42~510 |
After using the ultimate for 6 seconds, restores 4-6 units of energy every 2 seconds. Regenerates 4-6% health to all team members every 2 seconds. On the 5th awakening, it is quite good, as it significantly increases Nevillet’s health, and, consequently, its overall damage. Plus, it gives him enough energy and heals the entire team. In addition, it can be obtained through regular crafting. |
Song of Vast Azure (4 stars) |
Base Attack: 44~565 Obtaining Energy: 6.7~30.6% |
Increases damage from a normal strike by 8-16%, and a charged one by 6-12% for 6 seconds after hitting an enemy with a normal or charged attack. The bonus triggers once every 0.3 seconds and can be stacked up to three times. A free event catalyst that can rival the Amber Prototype at 5th Awakening. Thanks to the increase in VE, it will allow you to use your ultimate on CD. |
The Widsith (4 stars) |
Crete. damage: 12%~55.1% Base Attack: 42~510 |
After switching to the character, a random Barbara: Flow begins to play, which can increase attack power (by 60 percent), elemental damage (by 48 percent) or elemental mastery (by 240 points). The effect lasts 10 seconds and can appear once every half a minute. Of all the songs, only Aria will be useful to Nevillet (increases elemental damage), so the usefulness of the weapon largely depends on randomness. But it gives the critical damage the character needs. So if there are no alternatives, it can still be used. |
Best Artifacts
The best choice for Nevillet is a complete set "Hunter of the Twilight Court", 2 parts of which increase damage from normal and charged attacks by 15%, and 4 parts increase the chance of a critical hit by 12% for five seconds when the character’s current health increases or decreases. The bonus can be stacked up to three times. The set's passive will always trigger when charged attacks are actively used. You can get it in the dungeon "The Denouement of Sin".
If you have not yet managed to collect the entire set with the necessary stats, then try taking incomplete sets 2+2 for HP% or 2+2 for Hydro damage: Tenacity of the Millelith + Vourukasha’s Glow or Heart of Depth + The Nymph’s Dream.
You can also use complete sets of the following sets:
- Nymph’s Dream – 2 pieces: You will receive a 15% bonus to Hydro damage, 4 pieces: Successful hits on an enemy with a normal, charged or fall attack, as well as an elemental burst and an elemental skill will create 1 level of Nymph's Reflection, lasting 8 seconds. When 1, 2, 3 or more levels of Nymph's Reflection are in effect, the Hydro damage bonus increases by 4%, 9% and 15%, and the attack power increases by 7%, 16% and 25%, respectively. Obtained in the dungeon "The Molten Iron Fortress".
- Heart of Depth - 2 parts: you will receive a 15% bonus to Hydro damage, 4 parts: increases damage from normal and charged strikes by 30% for 15 seconds after using the E-shka. Found in the dungeon "Peak of Vindagnyr".
As for the choice of the main characteristics of artifacts, the hourglass should be taken for HP%, the cup (chalice) - for the Hydro Damage bonus (or HP%), and the crown (hat) - for critical damage / critical hit chance (2 to 1). Among additional parameters, priority should be given to energy recovery (bring it to at least 100%), crits, HP% and HP.
Best teams for Nevillet
In the absence of C1, the squad should take a good shield warrior or a character who can buff resistance to interruption. Otherwise, you will get knocked down quite often when using charged attacks.
To maximize Heir of the Ancient Sea stacks, the other three heroes must belong to different elements. It's best if they can deal constant damage from the pocket so as not to interfere with Nevillet being on the battlefield most of the time. The table below shows all the optimal commands with the Fontaine Supreme Judge, including the budget option.

Leveling up Nevillet
How to improve your skills
You have to search and collect many different materials, namely:
- Teachings, guidelines and philosophies about “Equanimity” - obtained on Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays in the dungeon "Pale Forgotten Glory".
- Transoceanic Pearl, Transoceanic Chunk , and Xenochromatic Crystal - drop from Fontmere aliens, bought with Starglitter , or created using Alchemy.
- Everamber - Dropped by weekly boss Guardian of Apep’s Oasis.
- Crown of Insight – can be obtained during events, as well as by upgrading the Sacred Sakura, the Permafrost Tree, the Tree of Dreams and the Lucin Fountain.
As for the priority of leveling up abilities, the first thing, of course, is to increase the hero’s normal attacks. Then pump up his Elemental Burst and only then take on increasing the elemental skill.
