In Sons of the Forest scuba gear is an important tool that allows the protagonist to breathe underwater. It will come in handy for getting a shovel and exploring many locations. To get it, you will have to examine one very dangerous cave. In this guide, we will tell you exactly where the rebreather is and how to get it.

How to get into the cave with a rebreather
Fortunately, the cave you need is located near the place where you first appear after the start of the game, that is, on the northern coast of the sea. The screenshots below demonstrate the location you need. Turn west and move to the edge of the forest. At the foot of the rocky ledge you will see a small hole.
Step inside and take a few more steps forward. You will find the entrance to the cave, which is closed with wooden planks. By the way, such boards in the game are a kind of sign that there is a valuable item in the cave. So, break the boards and crawl through the gap.
Note: In theory, you can find scuba gear right at the very beginning of the game, using only one spear. However, we advise you to prepare a little for this outing, as strong mutants are waiting for you inside the cave. Take medicines, explosives, Molotov cocktails and an electric baton with you.
How to find an air tank
Once inside, you will almost immediately see a small camp ahead with laptops and crates. Be sure to take the air tank near the lantern. You will need it for the rebreather. Now move forward along the only path. Once in a spacious area with stalagmites, keep walking forward.
Soon you will see a small waterfall on your left. Carefully go down the right side. You will enter a half-flooded tunnel with a couple of corpses. Examine the bodies, but do not rush to go ahead, as there are three mutants waiting for you there.
How to defeat the mutants in the cave
These opponents are deaf and have rather poor vision, so with proper skill, you can easily bypass them in stealth mode. True, the third one can still hear you when you turn into the right turn. In this case, run forward without looking back, and soon they will fall behind you.
If you can't sneak past the enemies or run away, then start luring them to you one at a time, and then get up so that they get stuck in the stalagmites. After that, hit the mutants from a safe distance with a spear. Sooner or later, but you will destroy all the monsters.
How to find a rebreather
Now move forward to the lantern on the floor. Near it you will find a fork - turn left and enter a new tunnel (by the way, if you previously met only two enemies, then this is where the third mutant will be waiting for you).
Go forward along the narrow hole. When you're back in the spacious area, stay close to the right wall. After 15-20 seconds you will see a new passage ahead. Enter it and move further along the narrow tunnel. You will most likely have to bend over.
Soon you will find yourself in a new spacious cave with a pond. Carefully go down the ledges and go to the right side of the location. Move along the stone path, and soon you will see an aqualung with a flashlight on the rocky shore. Take it to add to your inventory.
How to get out of the cave
There are two ways to get out of here. If you do not want to jump into the water where the shark is waiting for you, then go back to the ledge from which you jumped earlier and climb up the stalagmites. Now just follow the same route you came here.
If you want to try scuba diving, then jump into the water from the ledge shown in the screenshot below and swim straight ahead. Soon you will find a gap through which you can get into a tunnel that will lead you out of the cave. Then you will only need to swim to the nearest shore.
As for the shark, you can try to kill it with a hatchet or simply swim away from it - it will not chase you for a long time.
